  • The purpose of this paper is to introduce a new subclass of strongly meromorphic close-to-convex functions by subordinating to generalized Janowski function. We investigate several properties for this class such as coefficient estimates, inclusion relationship, distortion property, argument property and radius of meromorphic convexity. Various earlier known results follow as particular cases.

  • This study was carried out to produce the maltooligosaccharides directly from the culture medium containing high concentration of soluble starch as carbohydrate source by Bacillus cereus IAM 1072. Optimum conditions for the production of maltopentaose and maltooligosaccharides were predicted as 10.62 and 10.92 in C/N ration, 115.74 and 116.51 rpm in agitation speed, 30.19 and 30.9$0^{\circ}C$, respectively. And at these conditions, products of maltopentaose and maltooligosaccharides were 23.23 and 50.33g/L, respectively. From the results of continuous culture for maltopentaose, the productivity increased up to 6.9 times, showing 6.6g/L/hr compared with 0.96g/L/hr batch culture. Maltopentaose showed lower sweetness at 3% concentration representing 1/5 of that sugar. Also, swelling power of maltooligosaccharides was reached to the same point with sugar after fermentation.

  • Let ${\eta}(\tau)=q^{1/24}\prod_{n=1}^{\infty}(1-q^n)$, where $q=e^{2{\pi}i{\tau}}$ and ${\tau}{\in}\mathbb{C}$. Then the transformation $$g(\tau)={\rho}\frac{\{\eta(\frac{\tau+1}{2})\eta(\frac{\tau+2}{2})\}^{16}}{\eta(\tau)^{24}}({\bar{{\rho}}{\eta}}(\frac{\tau+1}{2})^8+{\eta}(\frac{\tau+2}{2})^8)^2$$ is holomorphic for Im ${\tau}$ > 0, and has the property $$g(\tau+1)=g(\tau),\;g(-\frac{1}{\tau})={\tau}^{12}g(\tau)$$. • For physical and hand property evaluation of fabrics, the knitted fabrics from 11 types of machines knitting fancy yarns, boucle (M1), knot (M2), snarl (M3), and slub (M4), tamtam (M5), tubular (M6), fur 1 (M7), bead (M8), fur 2 (M9), fur 3 (M10), and ladder (M11) yarns, were prepared with 7-10 G plain stitch. Washing test and pilling test had also been carried out. For hand properties by objective sensibility evaluation, 17 items of sir mechanical properties using KES-FB (Kawabata Evaluation System) had been measured. Then hand values of knitted fabrics were calculated with a calculation formula, namely KN-402-KT. Finally the total hand values were obtained through KN-301-WINTER. As a result of physical properties and objective evaluation for machines knitting fancy fabrics, most of them shrank in the direction of wale and course after the washing test, in which their shrinkage rate had a maximum of 3.5%. Therefore, the washing test indicated that the shrinkage ratio of knitted fabrics had a minor change. The results of the pilling test are mostly 4-5th grade, and all of the machines knitting fancy fabrics showed good results in the pilling resistance. In hand properties and objective sensibility evaluation, twisted fancy yarns, such as boucle (M1), knot (M2), snarl (M3), and slub (M4), were superior to bonding rigidity (B) and shear rigidity (G). The surface property between course and wale differs in all samples and course direction is tougher than wale direction. FUKURAMI (fullness and softness) of all samples have high values, besides NUMERI (smoothness) of tamtam (M5) and boucle (M1), which were rather good. Most samples except fur 1 (M7) had low KOSHI (stiffness) value. The total hand value (THV) of twisted yarns was low. This study proves that manufacturers, who plan knitting yarn products and knit fashion, can apply these data to develop machines knitting yarns and knits that fit the consumers' demands.

  • In this paper, a novel quantization method for wideband signal codec with 7 kHz bandwidth is proposed. In the transform-based wideband signal codecs, the signal is transformed to frequency domain and the spectral coefficients in each frequency band are quantized based on human perceptual model, followed by Huffman coding. However, the property of each band varies with frequency, and the codec has poor performance when all bands are quantized with the same method. Therefore, a selective quantization method is proposed, which analyzes the band property and selects the quantization domain between frequency domain and time domain based on the quantization efficiency. It is confirmed that the proposed method has better performance than the quantizer of G722.1 codec.

  • A sequence $\{f_i\}^{\infty}_{i=1}$ in a Hilbert space H is said to be exponentially localized with respect to a Riesz basis $\{g_i\}^{\infty}_{i=1}$ for H if there exist positive constants r < 1 and C such that for all i, $j{\in}N$, ${\mid}{\mid}{\leq}Cr^{{\mid}i-j{\mid}}$ and ${\mid}{\mid}{\leq}Cr^{{\mid}i-j{\mid}}$ where $\{{\tilde{g}}_i\}^{\infty}_{i=1}$ is the dual basis of $\{g_i\}^{\infty}_{i=1}$. It can be shown that such sequence is always a Bessel sequence. We present an additional condition which guarantees that $\{f_i\}^{\infty}_{i=1}$ is a frame for H.

  • In this paper, we study Noetherian Boolean rings. We show that if R is a Noetherian Boolean ring, then R is finite and $R{\simeq}(\mathbb{Z}_2)^n$ for some integer $n{\geq}1$. If R is a Noetherian ring, then R/J is a Noetherian Boolean ring, where J is the intersection of all ideals I of R with |R/I| = 2. Thus R/J is finite, and hence the set of ideals I of R with |R/I| = 2 is finite. We also give a short proof of Hayes's result : For every polynomial $f(x){\in}\mathbb{Z}[x]$ of degree $n{\geq}1$, there are irreducible polynomials $g(x)$ and $h(x)$, each of degree $n$, such that $g(x)+h(x)=f(x)$.

  • This study was conducted in order to predict the chemical and physical properties by climatic factors during the growing season of burley tobacco as soon as possible. The data of six chemical and five physical properties were collected from "Analysis of chemical and physical properties on farm leaf tobacco" conducted at KT&G Central Research Institute from 1987 to 2006. Data of climatic factors from April to July in 6 districts were collected from Korea Meteorological Adminstration. Except for total nitrogen, total nitrogen/nicotine and yellowness(b), all probabilities of linear regression equations between the climatic factors(X) and the average contents of twelve grades(whole plant) for chemical and physical properties(Y) were significant($P{\leq}0.05$). The predicable probabilities within ${\pm}20%$ range of difference were 100% in ether extract content, 95% in nicotine content, and 90% in filling value. These results suggest that the regression equations may be useful to predict the average content of twelve grades for four chemical and four physical properties by climatic factors during the growing season of burley tobacco at the beginning of August.

  • In this paper, we study surfaces in $\mathb{E}^3$ whose Gauss map G satisfies the equation ${\Box}G=f(G+C)$ for a smooth function $f$ and a constant vector C, where ${\Box}$ stands for the Cheng-Yau operator. We focus on surfaces with constant Gaussian curvature, constant mean curvature and constant principal curvature with such a property. We obtain some classification and characterization theorems for these kinds of surfaces. Finally, we give a characterization of surfaces whose Gauss map G satisfies the equation ${\Box}G={\lambda}(G+C)$ for a constant ${\lambda}$ and a constant vector C.
