  • We introduce the concepts of strongly $s{\gamma}$-closed graph, $s{\gamma}$-compactness and $s{\gamma}-T_2$ space and study the relationships between such concepts and weakly $s{\gamma}$-continuous functions.

  • The purpose of this study is to perform radiation monitoring by acquiring gamma images and real-time optical images for 99mTc vial source using charge couple device (CCD) cameras equipped with the proposed compact gamma camera. The compact gamma camera measures 86×65×78.5 mm3 and weighs 934 g. It is equipped with a metal 3D printed diverging collimator manufactured in a 45 field of view (FOV) to detect the location of the source. The circuit's system uses system-on-chip (SoC) and field-programmable-gate-array (FPGA) to establish a good connection between hardware and software. In detection modules, the photodetector (multi-pixel photon counters) is tiled at 8×8 to expand the activation area and improve sensitivity. The gadolinium aluminium gallium garnet (GAGG) measuring 0.5×0.5×3.5 mm3 was arranged in 38×38 arrays. Intrinsic and extrinsic performance tests such as energy spectrum, uniformity, and system sensitivity for other radioisotopes, and sensitivity evaluation at edges within FOV were conducted. The compact gamma camera can be mounted on unmanned equipment such as drones and robots that require miniaturization and light weight, so a wide range of applications in various fields are possible.

  • Gabai's sutured manifold theory has produced many remarkable results in knot theory. Let M be the compact oriented 3-manifold and (M, ${\gamma}$) be sutured manifold. The aim of this note is to show that there exist a sutured manifold decomposition and a surface of M which defines a sutured manifold decomposition.

  • We consider a class of discrete parameter processes on a locally compact Polish space $S$ arising from successive compositions of strictly stationary Markov random maps on $S$ into itself. Sufficient conditions for the existence of the stationary solution and the weak convergence of the distributions of $\{\Gamma_n \Gamma_{n-1} \cdots \Gamma_0x \}$ are given.

  • Let A be a $C^*$-algebra and $K_{A}$ its Pedersen's ideal. A is called a PCS-algebra if the multiplier $\Gamma(K_{A})\;of\;K_{A}$ is the multiplier M(A) of A. J. Mack [5]characterized PCS-algebras by weak compactness on the spectrum of A. We give a new simple proof of this Mack's result using the concept of semicontinuity and N. C. Phillips' description of $\Gamma(K_{A})$.

  • Assume that X is locally compact and Hausdorff. Then, we show that $\alpha X = sup {X \cup_f S(f)$\mid$f \in S^{\alpha}}$ for any compactification $\alpha X$ of X if and only if for any 2-point compatification $\gamma X$ of X with $\gamma X - X = {-\infty, +\infty}$, there exists a clopen subset A of \gamma X$ such that $-\infty \in A$ and $+\infty \notin A$. As a corollary, we obtain that if X is connected and locally connected, then $\alpha X = sup {X \cup_f S(f)$\mid$f \in S^{\alpha}}$ for any compactification $\alpha X$ of X if and only if X is 1-complemented.

  • The P/M processing of titanium aluminide using amorphous TiAl is developed by which it is possible to overcome inherent fabricability problems and to obtain a fine microstructure. A high quality amorphous TiAl powder produced by reaction ball milling shows clear glass transition far below a temperature at the onset of crystallization in differential scanning calorimetry above a heating rate of 0.05 K/s. We obtained a fully dense compact of amorphous TiAl powders, encapsulated in a vacuumed can, via viscous flow by hot isostatic pressing (HIP). Isothermally annealing of HIP'ed amorphous compact under a pressure of 196 MPa shows a progressive growth of ${\gamma}-TiAl$ phase with ${\alpha}2$ ($Ti_3Al$), which is characterized by increasing sharpness of X-ray peaks with temperature. Fully dense HIP'ed compact of titanium aluminide TiAl shows a high hardness of 505 Hv, suggesting strengthening mechanisms by sub-micron sized grain of ${\gamma}-TiAl$ and particle-dispersion by second phase constituent, ${\alpha}2$.

  • Over the last few years, the data obtained using the Large Area Telescope (LAT) aboard the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope has provided new insights on high-energy processes in globular clusters, particularly those involving compact objects such as MilliSecond Pulsars (MSPs). Gamma-ray emission in the 100 MeV to 10 GeV range has been detected from more than a dozen globular clusters in our galaxy, including 47 Tucanae and Terzan 5. Based on a sample of known gammaray globular clusters, the empirical relations between gamma-ray luminosity and properties of globular clusters such as their stellar encounter rate, metallicity, and possible optical and infrared photon energy densities, have been derived. The measured gamma-ray spectra are generally described by a power law with a cut-off at a few gigaelectronvolts. Together with the detection of pulsed γ-rays from two MSPs in two different globular clusters, such spectral signature lends support to the hypothesis that γ-rays from globular clusters represent collective curvature emission from magnetospheres of MSPs in the clusters. Alternative models, involving Inverse-Compton (IC) emission of relativistic electrons that are accelerated close to MSPs or pulsar wind nebula shocks, have also been suggested. Observations at >100 GeV by using Fermi/LAT and atmospheric Cherenkov telescopes such as H.E.S.S.-II, MAGIC-II, VERITAS, and CTA will help to settle some questions unanswered by current data.

  • We present the results of very long baseline interferometry (VLBI) observations of gamma-ray bright blazar S5 0716+714 using the Korean VLBI Network (KVN) at the 22, 43, 86, and 129 GHz bands, which are part of the KVN key science program known as the Interferometric Monitoring of Gamma-ray Bright AGNs (iMOGABA). Multi-frequency VLBI observations were conducted in 29 sessions from January 16, 2013 to March 1, 2016. The source was detected and imaged in all available frequency bands. For all observed epochs, the source is compact on the milliarcsecond (mas) scale, yielding a compact VLBI core dominating the synchrotron emission on the mas scale. Based on the multi-wavelength data at 15 and 230 GHz, we found that the source shows multiple prominent enhancements of the flux density at the centimeter (cm) and millimeter (mm) wavelengths, with mm enhancements leading cm enhancements with a time lag of $18{\pm}5$ days. Turnover frequency is found to vary over our observations between 22 to 69GHz. Taking into account the synchrotron self-absorption model of the relativistic jet in S5 0716+714, we estimated the magnetic field strength in the mas emission region to be 0.4-66 mG during the observing period, finding that the magnetic field strength is strongly correlated with the turnover frequency and the relatively strong magnetic field (e.g., B > 40 mG) is correlated with flux enhancements at mm wavelengths (e.g., 86 GHz).
