  • This paper introduces fourteen single, double, multiple and sequential acceptance sampling plans based on switching rule. Revised KS standards for acceptance sampling by attribute and by variable such as KSA ISO 2859-0, 1:2001 2859-2:2001, 8422:2001, 3951:2006, 8423:2001, MIL-STD-105E:1989, 414:1968 and ANSI/ASQ Z1.4, Z1.9:2003 are presented.

  • (Z)-13-Eicosen-10-one (1), one of the active components of the female pheromone of the peach fruit moth, Carposina niponensis Walsingham, was synthesized from 2-nonanone, succinic anhydride, and n-nonyllithium. The key step involves the preparation of 13-eicosyn-10-one from an epoxyketone via Eschenmoser cleavage.

  • The present investigation is concerned with certain subclasses of alpha-convex functions with fixed point and defined with subordination in the unit disc E = {z :| z |< 1}. The estimates of the first four coefficients for the functions in these classes are obtained. The results due to various authors follow as special cases.

  • Given a function f analytic in open disk centred at origin of radius unity and satisfying the condition |f(z)/g(z) - 1| < 1 for a analytic function g with certain prescribed conditions in the unit disk, radii constants R are determined for the values of Rzf'(Rz)/f(Rz) to lie inside the domain enclosed by the curve |w2 - 1| = 1 (lemniscate of Bernoulli). This, in turn, provides a partial solution to the conjectures and problems for determination of sharp bounds R for such functions f.

Removal of Tetracycline Antibiotics Using UV and UV/H2O2 Systems in Water (UV 및 UV/H2O2 시스템을 이용한 수중의 Tetracycline계 항생물질 제거)

  • Seven tetracycline classes of antibiotics were treated using ultraviolet (UV) and $UV/H_2O_2$ oxidation. Two different UV lamps were used for the UV and $UV/H_2O_2$ oxidation. The performance of the UV oxidation was different depending on the lamp type. The medium pressure lamp showed better performance than the low pressure lamp. Combining the low pressure lamp with hydrogen peroxide ($H_2O_2$) improved the removal performance substantially. The by-products formation of tetracycline by UV and $UV/H_2O_2$ were investigated. The protonated form ($[1+H]^+$) of tetracycline was m/z 445, reacted to yield almost exclusively two oxidation by-products by UV and $UV/H_2O_2$ oxidation. Their protonated forms of by-products were m/z 461 and m/z 477. The structures of tetracycline's by-products in UV and $UV/H_2O_2$ system were similar.

Synthesis of Sodalite from Water Glass: Effect of the Composition of Synthetic Mixtures on Its Crystallinity and Crystallite Size (물유리에서 소달라이트의 합성: 합성모액 조성이 결정화도와 입자 크기에 미치는 영향)

  • The effects of $Na_2O$, $SiO_2$ and $H_2O$ contents of the synthetic mixtures prepared from water glass on the crystallinity and crystallite size of sodalite were studied. The composition of the synthetic mixtures described by $x\;Na_2O{\cdot}y\;SiO_2{\cdot}Al_2O_3{\cdot}z\;H_2O$ was varied within x=2.5~7.5, y=1.4~3.0, z=140~400. The hydrothermal reaction was carried out at $140^{\circ}C$ for 2 days. High content of $Na_2O$ resulted in the high crystallinity and small crystallite of sodalite. The $SiO_2/Al_2O_3$ molar ratios of around 2 were suitable for the synthesis of sodalite, and produced zeolite species were varied by the $H_2O$ content. Sodalite was mainly obtained with a high crystallinity from the synthetic mixtures with $SiO_2/Al_2O_3$ molar ratio of around 2 and high content of $Na_2O$. The high content of sodium ions caused a decrease in the particle sizes because of their role of structure directing agent.

  • For a set $X{\subset}{\mathbb{Z}}^n$ let $(X,\;T^n_X)$ be the subspace of the Khalimsky n-dimensional space $({\mathbb{Z}}^n,\;T^n)$, $n{\in}N$. Considering a k-adjacency of $(X,\;T^n_X)$, we use the notation $(X,\;k,\;T^n_X)$. In this paper for a map $$f:(X,\;k,\;T^n_X){\rightarrow}(Y,\;2\;T_Y)$$, we find the condition that weak (k, 2)-continuity of the map f implies strong (k, 2)-continuity of f.

Existence of a vortex-glass phase transition in an optimally doped BaFe1.8Co0.2As2 single crystal

  • The magneto-resistivity and electric field-current density (E-J) curves were investigated up to a magnetic field 9 T in the optimally doped $BaFe_{1.8}Co_{0.2}As_2$ single crystal with a superconducting temperature ($T_c$) of 24.6 K. The E-J Scaling behaviors below and above vortex glass transition temperature ($T_g$) were found, confirming the existence of the vortex glass phase transition. The critical exponents for the diverging spatial and time correlations at $T_g$, were obtained as v = $1.1{\pm}0.1$ and z = $4.5{\pm}0.3$, respectively. The obtained critical exponents are in good agreement with the predicted values of v ~ 1 - 2 and z > 4 within the 3D vortex glass theory.

Infinite 1-D and 3-D Nets with Two Different Zinc and Terbium Coordination Polymers.

  • The hydrothermal reaction of Zn(NO₃)₂6H₂O with benzene-1,3-dicarboxylic acid (or isophthalic acid, 1,3-BDCH₂) and pyridine led to the formation of a 1-dimensional coordination polymer with the empirical formula of [Zn₄(1,3-BDC)₃(Py)₂(O/sup 2-/)] (1). On the other hand, the hydrothermal reaction of Tb(NO₃)₃5H₂O with benzene-1,3-dicarboxylic acid (or isophthalic acid, 1,3-BDCH₂) and pyridine gave a 3-D compound [Tb₃(1,3-BDC)₂(H₂O₃] (2). The structures of both compounds have been determined by X-ray diffraction. 1 crystallizes in the monoclinlc space group P2₁/n, a = 10.344(3) Å, b = 18.030(3) Å, c = 18.033(3) Å, = 90.46(2)°, V = 3363.1(13) ,ų, Z = 4. 2 crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2/n, a = 22.253(5) Å, b = 18.672(4) Å, c = 11.5812 Å, = 101.40(2)°, V = 4717.3(21) ų, Z = 8.

  • Regio- and diastereoselective 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions of nitrones {(Z)-${\alpha}$-phenyl-N-methylnitrone (1a) and (Z)-${\alpha}$-propyl-N-butylnitrone (1b)} with electron-deficient perfluoro-2-methyl-2-pentene (2) lead to novel isoxazolidines {5-fluoro-5-pentafluoroethyl-4,4-bis-trifluoromethyl-2-methyl-3-phenyl-isoxazolidine (3a) and 2-butyl-5-fluoro-5-pentafluoroethyl-4,4-bis-trifluoromethyl-3-propyl-isoxazolidines (3b) respectively} as major constituents. These derivatives were characterized by IR, $^1H$ and $^{19}F$ NMR, GC-MS and NOE measurements, and the absolute structure of 3a was confirmed by X-ray crystallography.
