  • We conjecture that if $k{\geq}2$ is an integer and G is a graph of order n with minimum degree at least (n+2k)/2, then for any k independent edges $e_1$, ${\cdots}$, $e_k$ in G and for any integer partition $n=n_1+{\cdots}+n_k$ with $n_i{\geq}4(1{\leq}i{\leq}k)$, G has k disjoint cycles $C_1$, ${\cdots}$, $C_k$ of orders $n_1$, ${\cdots}$, $n_k$, respectively, such that $C_i$ passes through $e_i$ for all $1{\leq}i{\leq}k$. We show that this conjecture is true for the case k = 2. The minimum degree condition is sharp in general.

  • Let $n{\geq}2$ be an even integer. We investigate that if an odd mapping f : X ${\rightarrow}$ Y satisfies the following equation $2_{n-2}C_{\frac{n}{2}-1}rf\(\sum\limits^n_{j=1}{\frac{x_j}{r}}\)\;+\;{\sum\limits_{i_k{\in}\{0,1\} \atop {{\sum}^n_{k=1}\;i_k={\frac{n}{2}}}}\;rf\(\sum\limits^n_{i=1}(-1)^{i_k}{\frac{x_i}{r}}\)=2_{n-2}C_{{\frac{n}{2}}-1}\sum\limits^n_{i=1}f(x_i),$ then f : X ${\rightarrow}$ Y is additive, where $r{\in}R$. We also prove the stability in normed group by using shadowing property and the Hyers-Ulam stability of the functional equation in Banach spaces and in Banach modules over unital C-algebras. As an application, we show that every almost linear bijection h : A ${\rightarrow}$ B of unital $C^*$-algebras A and B is a $C^*$-algebra isomorphism when $h(\frac{2^s}{r^s}uy)=h(\frac{2^s}{r^s}u)h(y)$ for all unitaries u ${\in}$ A, all y ${\in}$ A, and s = 0, 1, 2,....

  • We consider the following system of discrete equations $u_i(\kappa)\;=\;{\Sigma{N}{\ell=0}}g_i({\kappa},\;{\ell})f_i(\ell,\;u_1(\ell),\;u_2(\ell),\;{\cdots}\;,\;u_n(\ell)),\;{\kappa}\;{\in}\;\{0,\;1,\;{\cdots}\;,\;T\},\;1\;{\leq}\;i\;{\leq}\;n\;where\;T\;{\geq}\;N\;>\;0,\;1\;{\leq}i\;{\leq}\;n$. Existence criteria for single, double and multiple constant-sign solutions of the system are established. To illustrate the generality of the results obtained, we include applications to several well known boundary value problems. The above system is also extended to that on $\{0,\;1,\;{\cdots}\;\}\;u_i(\kappa)\;=\;{\Sigma{\infty}{\ell=0}}g_i({\kappa},\;{\ell})f_i(\ell,\;u_1(\ell),\;u_2(\ell),\;\cdots\;,\;u_n(\ell)),\;{\kappa}\;{\in}\;\{0,\;1,\;{\cdots}\;\},\;1\;{\leq}\;i\;{\leq}\;n$ for which the existence of constant-sign solutions is investigated.

  • Let {$X_i,-{\infty}$ < 1 < $\infty$} be a doubly infinite sequence of identically distributed and negatively associated random variables with mean zero and finite variance and {$a_i,\;-{\infty}$ < i < ${\infty}$} be an absolutely summable sequence of real numbers. Define a moving average process as $Y_n={\sum}_{i=-\infty}^{\infty}a_{i+n}X_i$, n $\geq$ 1 and $S_n=Y_1+{\cdots}+Y_n$. In this paper we prove that E|$X_1$|$^rh$($|X_1|^p$) < $\infty$ implies ${\sum}_{n=1}^{\infty}n^{r/p-2-q/p}h(n)E{max_{1{\leq}k{\leq}n}|S_k|-{\epsilon}n^{1/p}}{_+^q}<{\infty}$ and ${\sum}_{n=1}^{\infty}n^{r/p-2}h(n)E{sup_{k{\leq}n}|k^{-1/p}S_k|-{\epsilon}}{_+^q}<{\infty}$ for all ${\epsilon}$ > 0 and all q > 0, where h(x) > 0 (x > 0) is a slowly varying function, 1 ${\leq}$ p < 2 and r > 1 + p/2.

  • An ideal I of a ring R is strongly ${\pi}$-regular if for any $x{\in}I$ there exist $n{\in}\mathbb{N}$ and $y{\in}I$ such that $x^n=x^{n+1}y$. We prove that every strongly ${\pi}$-regular ideal of a ring is a B-ideal. An ideal I is periodic provided that for any $x{\in}I$ there exist two distinct m, $n{\in}\mathbb{N}$ such that $x^m=x^n$. Furthermore, we prove that an ideal I of a ring R is periodic if and only if I is strongly ${\pi}$-regular and for any $u{\in}U(I)$, $u^{-1}{\in}\mathbb{Z}[u]$.

  • In, [7], Th.M. Rassias proved that the norm defined over a real vector space V is induced by an inner product if and only if for a fixed integer $n{\geq}2$ $$n{\left\|{\frac{1}{n}}{\sum\limits_{i=1}^{n}}x_i{\left\|^2+{\sum\limits_{i=1}^{n}}\right\|}{x_i-{\frac{1}{n}}{\sum\limits_{j=1}^{n}x_j}}\right\|^2}={\sum\limits_{i=1}^{n}}{\parallel}x_i{\parallel}^2$$ holds for all $x_1,{\cdots},x_{n}{\in}V$. Let V,W be real vector spaces. It is shown that if a mapping $f:V{\rightarrow}W$ satisfies $$(0.1){\hspace{10}}nf{\left({\frac{1}{n}}{\sum\limits_{i=1}^{n}}x_i \right)}+{\sum\limits_{i=1}^{n}}f{\left({x_i-{\frac{1}{n}}{\sum\limits_{j=1}^{n}}x_i}\right)}\\{\hspace{140}}={\sum\limits_{i=1}^{n}}f(x_i)$$ for all $x_1$, ${\dots}$, $x_{n}{\in}V$ $$(0.2){\hspace{10}}2f\(\frac{x+y}{2}\)+f\(\frac{x-y}{2} \)+f\(\frac{y}{2}-x\)\\{\hspace{185}}=f(x)+f(y)$$ for all $x,y{\in}V$. Furthermore, we prove the generalized Hyers-Ulam stability of the functional equation (0.2) in real Banach spaces.

  • Let {$X_n$, n ${\ge}$ 1} be a negatively associated sequence of identically distributed random variables with mean zeros and positive finite variances. Set $S_n$ = ${\Sigma}^n_{i=1}\;X_i$. Suppose that 0 < ${\sigma}^2=EX^2_1+2{\Sigma}^{\infty}_{i=2}\;Cov(X_1,\;X_i)$ < ${\infty}$. We prove that, if $EX^2_1(log^+{\mid}X_1{\mid})^{\delta}$ < ${\infty}$ for any 0< ${\delta}{\le}1$, then $\lim_{{\epsilon}\downarrow0}{\epsilon}^{2{\delta}}\sum_{{n=2}}^{\infty}\frac{(logn)^{\delta-1}}{n^2}ES^2_nI({\mid}S_n{\mid}\geq{\epsilon}{\sigma}\sqrt{nlogn}=\frac{E{\mid}N{\mid}^{2\delta+2}}{\delta}$, where N is the standard normal random variable. We also prove that if $S_n$ is replaced by $M_n=max_{1{\le}k{\le}n}{\mid}S_k{\mid}$ then the precise rate still holds. Some results in Fu and Zhang (2007) are improved to the complete moment case.

  • Let {$X_i$, $1{\leq}i{\leq}n$} be a sequence of i.i.d. sequence of positive random variables with common absolutely continuous cumulative distribution function F(x) and probability density function f(x) and $E(X^2)$ < ${\infty}$. The random variables X + Y and $\frac{(X-Y)^2}{(X+Y)^2}$ are independent if and only if X and Y have gamma distributions. In addition, the random variables $S_n$ and $\frac{\sum_{i=1}^{m}(X_i)^2}{(S_n)^2}$ with $S_n=\sum_{i=1}^{n}X_i$ are independent for $1{\leq}m$ < n if and only if $X_i$ has gamma distribution for $i=1,{\cdots},n$.

  • Let M = {1, 2, ${\ldots}$, n} and let V = {$I{\subseteq}M:1{\in}I$}. Denote M\I by $I^c$ for $I{\in}V$. The goal of this paper is to investigate the solution and the stability using the alternative fixed point of generalized cubic functional equation $ \sum\limits_{I{\in}V}f(\sum\limits_{i{\in}I}a_ix_i-\sum\limits_{i{\in}I^c}a_ix_i)=2{^{n-2}{a_1}}\sum\limits_{i=2}^na_i^2[f(x_1+x_i)+f(x_1-x_i)]+2{^{n-1}{a_1}(a^2_1-\sum\limits_{i=2}^2a^2_i)f(x_1)$ in ${\beta}$-Banach modules on Banach algebras, where $a_1,{\ldots},a_n{\in}\mathbb{Z}{\backslash}\{0\}$ with $a_1{\neq}={\pm}1$ and $a_n=1$.

  • This work presents a comparative study of four Double Gate tunnel FET (DG-TFET) architectures: conventional p-i-n DG-TFET, p-n-p-n DG-TFET, a gate dielectric engineered Heterogate (HG) p-i-n DG-TFET and a new device architecture with the merits of both Hetero Gate and p-n-p-n, i.e. HG p-n-p-n DG-TFET. It has been shown that, the problem of high gate capacitance along with low ON current for a p-i-n TFET, which severely hampers the circuit performance of TFET can be overcome by using a p-n-p-n TFET with a dielectric engineered Hetero-gate architecture (i.e. HG p-n-p-n). P-n-p-n architecture improves the ON current and the heterogeneous dielectric helps in reducing the gate capacitance and suppressing the ambipolar behavior. Moreover, the HG architecture does not degrade the output characteristics, unlike the gate drain underlap architecture, and effectively reduces the gate capacitance.
