A Study on the SiO2Sensing Layer Used in ISFET (ISFET용 SiO2 감응박막에 관한 연구)

  • A study on the oxidation of SiO2 sensing layer was done at 950, 1000, 105$0^{\circ}C$ under dry O2 atmosphere. The rate determining step around the oxide layer thickness, 1000$\AA$ was different with the oxidation temperature, as follows ; ⅰ) linear growth at 95$0^{\circ}C$ and ⅱ) parabolic growth at 100$0^{\circ}C$ and 105$0^{\circ}C$. The flatness of SiO2 film was observed within $\pm$1% and surface state charge density was reduced by annealing in N2 atmosphere. Finally, pH sensitivity of SiO2 film, in the range of pH 3-9, was 20mV/pH.

Preparations of $(Zr_{0.08}Sn_{0.2})TiO_4$ Dielectric Powders by Coprecipitation of $(Zr^{4+}, Ti^{4+})-Hydroxides in the Presence of SnO2 Particles (부분 공침법에 의한 $(Zr_{0.08}Sn_{0.2})TiO_4$ 분말합성 및 유전특성)

  • (Zr, Sn)TiO4 powders were prepared in 0.05~0.13 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ by coprecipitating (Zr4+, Ti4+)hydroxide on SnO2 particles and followed by calcination at 90$0^{\circ}C$ for 2 h. They sinter to 95% of relative density at 140$0^{\circ}C$ for 2 h. and shows dielectric constant, $\varepsilon$r=37.5 and quality factor, Qxf(GHz)=46,000. With 3 mol% of ZnO it sinters to rel=97.5%, $\varepsilon$r=39 and Qxf(GHz)=40,050 at 135$0^{\circ}C$ for 2 h., but raising sintering temperature to 140$0^{\circ}C$ deteriorates quality factor, relative density and microstructure with developing second phase.

Composition of a New Medium for Mycelial Growth of Hericium erinaceus (노루궁뎅이버섯(Hericium erinaceus)의 새로운 균사배양기의 조성)

  • These researches were carried out for improvement of medium for mycelial growth of Hericium erinaceus isolate KU-1. It grew well at pH 4 and $25^{\circ}C$. Glucose and sucrose were favorable carbon sources for mycelial growth. As nitrogen sources, ammonium acetate and arginine enhanced mycelial growth. Optimum C/N ratio was 200. Based On the results, the following recipe is suggested for synthetic medium for the mycelial growth: glucose 18.02 g, arginine 2.613 g, ammonium acetate 2.313 g, $CaCl_2\;0.33\;g$, $KH_2PO_4\;8.5\;g$, $MgSO_4{\cdot}7H_2O\;2.0\;g$, $FeSO_4{\cdot}7H_2O\;0.02\;g$, $ZnSO_4{cdot}7H_2O\;0.02\;g$, $MnSO_4{\cdot}7H_2O\;0.02\;g$, water 1 liter. This medium was superior for the mycelial growth to other conventional media such as Yeast malt extract agar (YMA), Park medium, Potato dextrose agar (PDA), Malt extract agar, Czapek-dox agar, Macaya-lizano medium and Yeast extract agar. This new synthetic medium is designated as Ko medium.

Preparation of ZnO Powders by Hydrazine Method and Its Sensitivity to C2H5OH (하이드라진 방법에 의한 ZnO 미분말의 합성 및 에탄올 감응성)

  • ZnO nanopowders were synthesized by the sol-gel method using hydrazine reduction, and their gas responses to 6 gases (200 ppm of $C_2H_5OH$, $CH_3COCH_3$, $H_2$, $C_3H_8$, 100 ppm of CO, and 5 ppm of $NO_2$) were measured at $300\;{\sim}\;400^{\circ}C$. The prepared ZnO nanopowders showed high gas responses to $C_2H_5OH$ and $CH_3COCH_3$ at $400^{\circ}C$. The sensing materials prepared at the compositions of [$ZnCl_2$]:[$N_2H_4$]:[NaOH] = 1:1:1 and 1:2:2 showed particularly high gas responses ($S\;=\;R_a/R_g,\;R_a$ : resistance in air, $R_g$ : resistance in gas) to 200 ppm of $C_2H_5OH$($S\;=\;102.8{\sim}160.7$) and 200 ppm of $CH_3COCH_3$($S\;= 72.6{\sim}166.2$), while they showed low gas responses to $H_2$, $C_3H_8$, CO, and $NO_2$. The reason for high sensitivity to these 2 gases was discussed in relation to the reaction mechanism, oxidation state, surface area, and particle morphology of the sensing materials.

Enhancement of Porosity and Strength of Porous Al2O3 Ceramics by Al(H2PO4)3 Addition

  • Porous alumina ceramics with addition of 0, 5, 10, 15, and 20 wt% Al(H2PO4)3 were sintered at 1300, 1350, and 1400℃. The effects of the Al(H2PO4)3 addition on crystal phases, water absorption, open porosity, pore size distribution, microstructures, and flexural strength were studied extensively. The experimental results revealed that only characteristic peaks of corundum were indexed in the XRD patterns of the as-prepared porous ceramics. The water absorption and open porosity of the porous Al2O3 ceramics increased remarkably with an increase in Al(H2PO4)3 addition. The flexural strength first increased to a maximum value when 5 wt% Al(H2PO4)3 was added and then decreased as additional Al(H2PO4)3 was further added. SEM images showed that the average Al2O3 grain size in the porous ceramics changed in an opposite way as the flexural strength. The porous Al2O3 ceramics with 10 wt% Al(H2PO4)3 addition exhibited comparable flexural strength to the ceramics without Al(H2PO4)3 addition, although the latter had much higher porosity.

  • The objects of the present study were to establish the method of purification, subunit dissociation of verotoxin-2 (VT2) produced by Escherichia coli O157:H7, and to investigate the characteristics of purified verotoxin-2 such as molecular weight and composition of amino acid. The results were summerized as follows; Verotoxin-2 was extracted by addition of polymyxin B sulfate into bacterial cell lysate prepared from Escherichia coli O157:H7(KSC109). As an initial step, the bacterial cell lysate was precipitated with 30% saturated ammonium sulfate. The precipitated crude toxin was then subjected to anion-exchange, chromatofocusing and cation-exchange chromatography. Using this scheme, we obtained highly purified toxin with a specific activity of $1.1{\times}10^9$ $CD_{50}/mg$. Sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis(SDS-PAGE) for purified VT2 showed two protein bands. The upper band, approximately 32 Kd, was supposed as A subunit and the lower band, approximately 7.7 Kd, was supposed as B subunit. When the toxin was separated in the subunit-dissociating solution, two peaks emerged with retention times of 15 and 28 min by HPLC. These peaks represented A subunit and B subunit, respectively. The amino acid composition of purified VT2 were made up in order of glutamic acid, histamine, asparaginic acid, histidine, lysine, alanine and leucine etc. The largest amount among the amino acid composing VT2 was methionine.

Effect of Hydrogen Partial Pressure Ratio on Electrical and Structural Properties of ZnO Thin Film (ZnO 박막의 전기적 구조적 특성에 미치는 수소 분압비의 영향)

  • Effect of hydrogen partial pressure ratio on the structural and electrical properties of highly c-axis oriented ZnO films deposited by oxygen ion-assisted pulsed filtered vacuum arc at a room temperature was investigated. The hydrogen partial pressure ratio were $1.4%\sim9.8%$ at 40% oxygen pressure ratio. The conductivity of ZnO:H films was increased from 1.4% up to 4.2% due to relatively high carrier mobility caused by improvement of crystallinity While the conductivity of ZnO:H films were decreased over than 4.2% and (0002) orientation was also deteriorated. The lowest resistivity of ZnO:H films was $2.5{\times}10^{-3}\;{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$ at 4.2% of hydrogen pressure ratio. Transmittance of ZnO:H films in visible range was 85% which is lower than that of undoped ZnO films because of declined preferred orientation.

  • In this study, $ATiO_3$ (A = Ca, Sr, Ba) perovskite, which is the widely known for non $TiO_2$ photocatalysts, were synthesized using sol-gel method. And Ni was added at the A site of $ATiO_3$ by using that it is easy to incorporate. The physicochemical characteristics of the obtained $ATiO_3$ and Ni-$ATiO_3$ particles were confirmed using the X-ray diffraction (XRD) UV-visible spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), the $N_2$ adsorption-desorption isotherm measurement, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The $H_2$ was produced using the photolysis of MeOH. Using the Ni-$ATiO_3$ photocatalysts, $H_2$ production was higher than using the $ATiO_3$ photocatalysts. Especially, $273.84mmolg^{-1}$ $H_2$ was produced after 24 h reaction over the Ni-$SrTiO_3$. Also in the water (0.1 M KOH) with the Ni-$SrTiO_3$, $H_2$ production was $961.51mmolg^{-1}$ after 24 h reaction.

Synthesis and Characterization of a Strontium Iron Fluoride Hydrated, Sr2Fe2F10(H2O)

  • A hydrated strontium iron fluoride, Sr2Fe2F10(H2O) has been synthesized and characterized. The material was synthesized through mild hydrothermal reaction using an aqueous CF3COOH solution. The material exhibits a one-dimensional structure consisting of chains of corner-shared Fe3+F6 octahedra, isolated Fe3+F5(H2O) octahedra, chains of SrF10 polyhedra and isolated SrF8 polyhedra, respectively. Magnetic property measurements on Sr2Fe2F10(H2O) reveals an antiferromagnetic order at TN of ~2.5 K with a Weiss temperature (θ) of -61.51 K.
