  • The purpose for this paper is to obtain the $H_{\infty}$ LMI with fuzzy PI controller for induction motor which is nonlinear system. The controller type is PI and the control gains are obtained based on $H_{\infty}$ control problem. The PI controller is considered a part of a plant and the problem is changed to get controller with static gains. The nonlinear system is approximated as several linear systems and combined by using fuzzy technique.

  • This paper deals with power system stabilization problem using a network control system in which the control is applied through a communication channel in feedback form. Analysis and synthesis issues are investigated by modeling the packet delivery characteristics of the network as a Bernoulli random variable, which is described by a two state Markov chain. This model assumption yields an overall system which is described by a discrete-time Markov jump linear system. These employ the norm to measure the performance of the system, and they compute the norm via a necessary and sufficient matrix inequality condition.

  • This paper deals with designing a ground-based longitudinal landing controller which is robust to datalink time delays. Time delays occur because forward velocity measurements are downlinked and the controller output commands are uplinked. An $H_{\infty}$ controller was designed by using the input/output decomposition where time delay is modeled as a first-order system with Pade approximation. Linear simulations show that the system tracks well the predefined path and is robust to the variation of time delay.

  • This paper is concerned with the position control of the ond degree-of freedom manipulator using pneumatic artificial muscle actuator which is built to have a proper compliance. For t his pneumatic artificial muscle actuator though, it is difficult to make an effective control scheme due to the nonlinearity and uncertainties on the dynamics of the actuator. In this paper, a third-order equation of motion is derived for the actuator including the dynamics of the pneumatic servovalve. Later, various modeling uncertainties due to the nonlinearity and unmodeled dynamics of the servo vlave and the actuator are taken care of, as a trade-off between the closed-loop performance of the controlled system and its robustness to uncertainties. A controller using .mu. synthesis thchnique is designed, and robust performance against measurement noise, various modeling uncertainties due to the dynamics of the servo valve and actuator is achieved. The effectiveness of the proposed control methods is illustrated through simulations and experiments.

  • Addition of carbon and nitrogen source to an alcohol distillery wastewater was tried to increase the cell concentration of a b baker's yeast cultivated in that wastewater. Carbon was found to be primary limiting nutrient and nitrogen secondary limiting o one. Glucose addition increased the cell concentration 1.3 times higher than no addition, and both glucose and $(NH_4)_2S0_4$ a addition did 5.8 times. A fed-batch cultivation by the automatic addition of glucose and ammonium was executed. Added g glu$\infty$se was automatically controlled to low concentration by a method using DO as control parameter. Ammonium was a automatically added as NH40H used as pH $\infty$ntrol agent after initiating glucose addition. By this simple cultivation method t the cell concentration $\infty$내d be efficiently increased from 2.6g/L to 12.0g/L, and maximum specific growth rate and biomass y yield to glu$\infty$se were $0.18hr^{-1}$ and about 0.54g/g respectively. By increasing cell concentration, COD of the wastewater m media could be additionally reduced by about 22%.

  • This paper presents a new prototype of an engine mount for a passenger vehicle featuring ER(elector-rheological) fluids and piezoactuators. Conventional rubber mounts and various types of passive or semi-active hydraulic engine mounts have their own functional aims on the limited frequency band in the board engine operating frequency range. However, the proposed engine mount covers all frequency range of the engine operation. A mathematical model of the proposed engine mount is derived using the bond graph method which is inherently domain, the ER fluid is activated upon imposing electric field for vibration isolation while the piezoactuator. Computer control electric fluid for the ER fluid H.inf. cotrol technique is adopted for the piezoactuator. Computer simulation is undertaken in order to demonstrate isolation efficiency of the engine mount over wide operating frequency range.

  • Structural robustness refers to the ability of a structure to avoid disproportionate consequences to the original cause. Currently attentions focus on the concepts of structural robustness, and discussions on methods of robustness based structural design are rare. Firstly, taking basis in robust $H_{\infty}$ control theory, structural robustness is assessed by $H_{\infty}$ norm of the system transfer function. Then using the SIMP material model, robustness based design of grid structures is formulated as a continuum topology optimization problem, where the relative density of each element and structural robustness are considered as the design variable and the optimization objective respectively. Generalized elitist genetic algorithm is used to solve the optimization problem. As examples, robustness configurations of plane stress model and the rectangular hyperbolic shell model were obtained by robustness based structural design. Finally, two models of single-layer grid structures were designed by conventional and robustness based method respectively. Different interference scenarios were simulated by static and impact experiments, and robustness of the models were analyzed and compared. The results show that the $H_{\infty}$ structural robustness index can indicate whether the structural response is proportional to the original cause. Robustness based structural design improves structural robustness effectively, and it can provide a conceptual design in the initial stage of structural design.

  • In this paper, we consider the problem of robust peak-to-peak controller design of linear system. The goal is to design a controller which minimizes the maximum peak value of the measured output subjects to the peak bounded disturbance. The control is obtained by checking the feasibility of the derived matrix inequalities. Finally, we shows the usefulness of our result comparing to $H_{\infty}$ and $H_{2}$ control by an example.
