변색목재의 화학적 성질을 조사한 결과, 처리전.후의 유기용매추출물 함량에 있어서 소나무재 및 리기다소나무재 공히 노화 및 변색균처리포 그 함량이 낮아지는 결과를 나타냈는바, fatty acids와 sterols 은 3주간 노화처리로 10.6-11.2%, 변색균처리로 36-41.1%의 높은 감소율을 나타냈다. triglycerides도 3주간 노화처리로 5.68-9.4%, 변색균처리로 38.5-40.0% 높은 감소율을 나타냈다. resin acids의 경우 3주간 노화처리로 6.1-11.3%, 변색균처리로 36-41.5%의 감소율을 나타냈다. 변색목재의 펄프화와 관련하여 소나무재 및 리기다소나무재의 크라프트펄프화결과, 알칼리펄프화에 비하여 펄프수율이 2-3% 높아졌다. 최적펄프화조건으로 활성알칼리농도 20%에서 펄프수율이 46.9-47.8%, reject율이 3.21-3.52%로 낮았다. 변색균처리한 목재도 활성알칼리 20%에서 펄프수율이 비교적 높은 43.5-45%를, reject율이 1.3-1.45%로서 변색균처리 모두에서 현저히 낮아짐을 알 수 있었다.

Interaction between wood-destroying basidiomycetes and blue stain fungi were studied during conjoint cultivation on 2% malt extract agar. The ability of basidial cultures to decolourise dark pigments of ophiostomatoid fungi was the main characteristics estimated during this investigation. Antrodiella hoehnelii(S28/91), Bjerkandera fumosa(137), Gleophyllum odoratum(124), Trametes versicolor (B18/91) cultures were found to be the most active in decreasing dark colour of blue stain fungi colonies. The cultures were recommended for further development as agents of biopulping and control of blue stain fungi in wood chips.

Nalita wood(Trema orientalis) is one of the fastest growing woods in the world. It may be a viable species for pulpwood. The physical, chemical and morphological properties of Nalita were studied. The total lignin, pentosan and holocellulose content in Nalita wood were 24.7%, 22% and 81.2%, respectively. Its fiber length was about 0.92 mm, which are comparable to Acacia mangium. Nitrobenzene oxidation of Nalita wood meal indicated that the guaciayl and syringyl unit were the major constituent of Nalita lignin. Nalita produced 50% pulp yield at Kappa number 21 in soda-anthraquinone process. The strength properties of Nalita pulp were comparable to other tropical hardwood pulp. At
$40_{\circ}$ SR, the breaking length, burst index, tear index and total energy absorption were 6000 m,$3.5kPa{\cdot}m^2/g\;and\;7.0mN{\cdot}m^2/g\;and\;75J/m^2$ , respectively. -

최근의 많은 연구로부터 인쇄광택에 대한 코팅구조의 영향이 보고되고, 거론되고 있다. 그러나, 다각적이고, 다양한 잉크량 범위에서 인쇄광택의 개별적 인자에 대한 독립적 영향은 보고된 바 없다. 본 고에서는 다양한 코팅재료와 이어진 캘린더링 공정을 조합하여 Full-factorial실험설계에 준한 모델시료를 제작하고, 특성화하였다. 더불어 공극이 없지만 넓은 범위의 거칠음 수준을 가진 필름을 포함하였다. 통계도구를 사용하여 각 인자의 독립적인 영향을 추출하므로써, 각 구조인자의 함수로서 인쇄광택의 정량적인 반응도를 얻을 수 있었다. 결과는 60도와 75도 광택으로 표현하였다. 잉크공급량의 증가는 코팅층 거칠음의 영향을 약화는 시키되 배제시킬 수는 없었다. Matte급의 코팅층에 대한 인쇄광택은 코팅거칠음이 가장 큰 영향인자로 나타났다. 이는, 잉크필름의 Leveling을 저해하는, 큰 잉크필름의 분열형태와 코팅면을 따라 흐르며 형성되는 잉크필름 때문으로 생각되었다. 공극구조의 영향은 전반적으로 높은 잉크량과 백지광택수준에서 가장 크게 나타났다. 전체적으로는 코팅거칠음이 인쇄광택에 가장 강한 인자였으며, 공극크기, 공극부피가 뒤를 이었다. 그러나, 광택지 영역에서는 공극크기가 가장 강한 영향인자로 구분되었으며, 거칠음, 공극부피가 뒤를 이었다. 이러한 결과는 인쇄품질 측면에서 코팅을 최적화하는데 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

Coater runnability of the paper coating and final product properties can be affected by the immobilization of coating color and the dewatering into the base paper. During the dewatering, the rheological properties and solids content of a coating are dramatically changed. For the purpose of obtaining better coater runnability and high quality of coater paper many papermakers are trying to improve the water retention of paper coatings by using some additives such as thickener and co-binder. In this study, we tried to investigate the rheological properties and the immobilization point of coatings with immobilization cell during the dewatering of coatings.

The influence of sizing, fiber and pigment type on coating penetration, using commercial paper and two types of handsheets as the base paper which were prepared from thermomechanical pulp(TMP) and hardwood bleached kraft pulp(KP) sized internally with alkyl ketone dimmer(AKD), was studied in terms of characteristics of coating holdout. Laboratory rod draw down coater was used for surface sizing and coating application. Characterization of coating penetration was done by measuring the roughness of the backside of coating layer. The backside of the coating was exposed by dissolving the fibers in a solution of cupriethylenedimine(CED). Data show that internal sizing of base paper is effective and surface sizing is more effective to prevent coating penetration. Comparing between the two types of base papers, backside roughness of coating layer of TMP sheet is much larger and sizing is more effective to reduce coating penetration than those of KP sheet. With regard to pigment type, clay is more effective than calcium carbonate for better coating holdout.

There are two kinds of controllers in a continuous process system. One is for tension control of a moving web and the other for lateral motion control. The inter-connection between tension and lateral behaivior of web has not yet been considered in the analysis of web dynamics and designing of control stragagies. But the effect of tension variation on the lateral motion of a moving web is observed in the most manufacturing systems. In this paper, experimental studies was carried out to find out the inter-correlation between tension and lateral motion of a web using a 3-span web transport system which consists of two displacement type guiders. As a result, it was found that there are typical operating conditions that tension and lateral motion are correlated each other.

지종교체시 지절현상등의 사고를 방지하기 위하여 short circulation에 영향을 주는 요소들을 분석하고 이들 상호간의 관계를 파악하는 것은 매우 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 공정 출력변수가 원하는 값으로 유지되기 위해서 입력변수를 어떻게 조절해 주어야 하는지를 규명하기 위하여 short circulation에 대한 동적 모델식을 구한 후 정상상태 운전 데이터를 이용하여 입력변수의 변화에 따른 응답 특성을 조사하였고 아울러 입력변수들의 상호작용 특성을 규명하였다.

본 연구에서는 제지공정에서의 wet-end 와 dry section 부분을 통합한 모델을 구하고 이를 바탕으로 하여 지종교체 공정의 모델예측제어 방법을 제안하였다. 폐회로 공정 인식기법을 이용하여 state-space 모델을 구한 후 지종교체 제어를 모사한 결과와 실제 제지공장의 지종교체 운전데이터를 비교 분석하였다. 입력 변수로서 이전까지는 간과되어 왔던 4가지 변수(thick stock, filler flow, speed, steam pressure), 그리고 출력변수로서 3가지 변수(basis weight, ash content, moisture content)를 고려하였으며, output trajectory는 1차 전달함수 형식으로 하여 적용하였다. 모델예측제어 모사결과를 지종교체 운전데이터와 비교하여 본 결과 지종교체 시간이 짧아지고 보다 안정적으로 정상상태에 이르는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 아울러 모델예측제어로 인하여 지종교체 이후 입력 변수들이 큰 진동이 없이 보다 신속하게 정상상태에 도달함을 확인하였다.

본 연구에서는 제지공장의 건조공정에서 실린더 내에 열원으로 공급되는 수증기가 실린더 표면에 이르기까지의 동특성으로부터 건조 실린더에 대한 모델을 구하고 입력변화에 따른 공정 응답의 특성을 분석하였다. 실제 조업조건에 근거한 건조공정 모델에서 수중기 압력이 주요 변수로 작용하며 응축수에서 캔버스에 이르는 계 사이의 열전달 계수는 물질의 열 전도도와 제지공장 운전자료로부터 경험적인 식으로 나타낼 수 있음을 확인하였다. 아울러 실제 공정의 출력변수인 수분함량과 측정된 지필의 온도(open-run, free-run)를 이용하여 모델의 타당성을 검증하였으며 제지공장의 운전 특성을 나타내는 모델에서 유도된 전달함수로 대상 공정의 동특성을 분석하고 안정성 여부를 확인하였다.

In this study a model for the drying process in paper production plants was developed based on the mass and heat balances around drying cycles. Relationships for the heat transfer coefficients between the web and the air as well as between the drying cylinder and the web were extracted from the closed-loop plant operation data. It was found that the heat transfer coefficients could be represented effectively in terms of moisture content, basis weight and reel velocity. The effectiveness of the proposed model was illustrated through numerical simulations. From the comparison with the operation data, the proposed model represents the paper plant being considered with sufficient accuracy.

In this work we developed the closed-loop model of a paper machine during grade change with the intention to provide a reliable dynamic model to be used in the model-based grade change control scheme. During the grade change, chemical and physical characteristics of paper process change with time. It is very difficult to represent these characteristics on-line by using physical process models. In this work, the wet circulation part and the drying section were considered as a single process and closed-loop identification technique was used to develop the grade change model. Comparison of the results of numerical simulations with plant operation data demonstrates the effectiveness of the model identified.

The wet-end dynamics of a paper mill was analyzed to characterize its dynamic behavior during the grade change. The model representing the wet-end section is developed based on the mass balance relationships written for the simplified wet-end white water network. From the linearization of the dynamic model, higher-order Laplace transfer functions were obtained followed by the reduction procedure to give simple lower-order models in the form of
$1^{st}$ -order or$2^{nd}$ -order plus dead times. The dynamic response of the wet-end is influenced both by the white water volume and by the level of wire retention. Effects of key manipulated variables such as the thick stock flow rate, the ash flow rate and the retention aid flow rate on the major controlled variables were analyzed by numerical simulations. The simple dynamic model developed in the present study can be effectively used in the operation and control. -
