As the response to climate change becomes a more pressing global issue, so do expectations for climate change in the green information and communication technology (ICT) industry and the possibility of solving environmental problems through ICT. However, because the green ICT industry is still in its early stages, there is little research on it. Understanding the startup ecosystem in the industry is helpful for recognizing innovation trends in emerging technologies such as green ICT. In this regard, this paper investigates the current state and characteristics of the green ICT ecosystem and presents implications based on an examination of startup venture capital investment trends and submarket identification in the green ICT industry as emphasized by the carbon neutrality paradigm shift. The analysis included 4,807 companies and 3,990 funding records, as well as exploratory data analysis and "k-means" clustering techniques.

Sharing vehicle data among the companies within a car ecosystem can improve driving experience, increase driver comfort, contribute to social goals such as improving road safety and lowering fuel consumption. Furthermore, by participating in the ecosystem, companies can secure long-term and sustainable new revenue-generating opportunities. In this paper, we will examine the bottleneck and success factors of data sharing, as well as the technological solutions that urgently require development for car data sharing.

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has significantly changed the Lifeline Program, a telecommunications rate discount program for low-income Americans. As the reliance on online activities such as remote work, distance education, and online shopping grows because of the spread of COVID-19, there is a concern that the digital divide will widen among low-income households that struggle to access internet infrastructure due to the burden of access rates. Accordingly, the US Congress passed a bill to help lower the internet bill for low-income households using the government budget to close the digital divide. The Lifeline Program, which is a part of the universal service obligation, has been in charge of the telecommunications rate discount for low-income households. However, according to the new law, the internet rate discount program based on the government budget was implemented beginning in 2021. As the internet rate discount based on the government budget begins, the US telecommunication rate discount system is transitioning from a system in which telecommunication industry support was borne by operators to one in which public support from the government budget will play a significant role. In this paper, we will look at recent changes in the US telecommunications rate discount program and their implications.

To solve the challenge of waste plastics, this study investigated the related technologies and company trends along the plastic life cycle, and primarily describes ICT technologies to improve efficiency in the process of sorting and sorting waste plastics. Waste plastic discharge caused by the explosive increase in parcel traffic because of COVID-19 is also growing exponentially. Hence, waste treatment is emerging as a social challenge. Most of the domestic waste classification depends on the manual process according to the waste pollution level. The plastic material classification approach using the spectroscopy approach reveals a high error in the contaminated waste plastic classification, but if the Artificial Intelligence-based image classification technology is employed together, the classification precision can be enhanced because of the type of waste plastic product and the contaminated part can be differentiated.

As the interest in achieving an intelligent society grows with the fourth industrial revolution's development, information and communications technologies technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things, virtual reality, information security, and blockchain technology are being actively employed in different fields for achieving an intelligent society. With these modifications, the information security paradigm in industrial and public institutions, like personal sensitive data, is quickly changing, and it is exposed to different cyber threats and breaches. Furthermore, as the number of cyber threats and breaches grows, so does the need for rapid detection and response. This demand can be satisfied by establishing cyber training programs and fostering experts that can improve cyber security abilities. In this study, we explored the domestic and international technology trends in cyber security education and training facilities for developing experts in information security. Additionally, the AI technology application in the cyber training ground, which can be established to respond to and deter cyber threats that are becoming more intelligent, was examined.

The 5G MEC (Multi-access Edge Computing) technology offers network and computing functionalities that allow application services to improve in terms of network delay, bandwidth, and security, by locating the application servers closer to the users at the edge nodes within the 5G network. To offer its interoperability within various networks and user equipment, standardization of the 5G MEC technology has been advanced in ETSI, 3GPP, and ITU-T, primarily for the MEC platform, transport support, and MEC federation. This article offers a brief review of the standardization activities for 5G MEC technology and the details about the system architecture and functionalities developed accordingly.

So far, artificial intelligence (AI)/machine learning (ML) has produced impressive results in speech recognition, computer vision, and natural language processing. AI/ML has recently begun to show promise as a viable means for improving the performance of 5G mobile telecommunication systems. This paper investigates standardization activities in 3GPP and O-RAN Alliance regarding AI/ML applications on mobile telecommunication system. Future trends in AI/ML technologies are also summarized. As an overarching technology in 6G, there appears to be no doubt that AI/ML could contribute to every part of mobile systems, including core, RAN, and air-interface, in terms of performance enhancement, automation, cost reduction, and energy consumption reduction.

With the rapid growth in media service platforms providing broadcast programs or content services, content production has become more important and competitive. As a strategy to meet the diverse needs of global consumers for a variety of content and to retain them as long-term repeat customers, global over-the-top service providers are increasing not only the number of content productions but also their production efficiency. Moreover, a considerable amount of scene composition in the flow of content production work appears to be combined with rendering technology from a game engine and converted to object-based computer programming, thereby enhancing the creativity, diversity, quality, and efficiency of content production. This study examines the latest technology trends in content production such as virtual studio technology, which has emerged as the center of content production, the use cases in various fields of artificial intelligence, and the metadata standards for content search or scene composition. This study also examines the possibility of using object-based computer programming as one of the future candidate technologies for content production.

In this study, we investigate the trends and prospects of spatial light modulation (SLM) technology that enables full complex modulation as a next-generation SLM. Current SLM technology, which is used as a key element in holography, augmented reality (AR), XR, and realistic displays, has performance limits that modulate only amplitude or phase. Notably, SLM capable of full complex modulation does not produce diffraction noise, unlike DC and twin image, and thus has a high-efficiency performance. In the future, the application field of next-generation SLM, which can be full-complex modulated, is expected to cover a wide range of holography-AR and-XR devices, optical artificial intelligence, and 6G free space optics communications, which will greatly contribute to the development of a super-realistic metaverse platform and service.
