The purpose of this study was to investigate the teachers’attitudes toward the middle and high school student uniform. The questionnaire included independent variables about teacher themselves and school surroundings, and questions about teachers’attitudes toward school uniform. The participants were 316 middle and high school teachers in Chonbuk province. Means, standard deviations, frequencies, and percentages were calculated. ANOVA test was used for differences and scheffe-test was followed. The results were: 1. Teachers were content with “Students in uniform are upright and look more studentlkie.”“It’s easy to supervise students outdoors.”, and “There’s few efficiencies in coping with the temperature alternating.”, “Students in uniform hardly can reveal their originality.”and “It’s inconvenient for the students to be dynamic in uniform.” 2. Teachers in high schools and in private schools showed more positive attitudes toward uniform. And the male teachers, teachers graduated from general college, married teachers, and teachers who have a career of more than 20 years showed more positive attitudes toward uniform. More variables concerned about teacher themselves showed more significant differences than those about school surroundings. 3. Most of teachers showed positive attitudes toward uniform. The rank order of the reasons for the teacher’s positive attitudes were “Students in uniform are upright and look more studentlike.”, “It’s easy to supervise students outdoors.”, and “There’s no noticible distinction between the rich and the poor students.”The rank order of the reason for the teachers’negative at titudes were “Student in uniform could hardly reveal their originality.”, “It’s inconvenient for the student to be dynamic in uniform.”, and ”As they have to get the street clothes besides, economic burden becomes double in reality.”4. More than half of the teachers who are working at schools with uniform showed positive attitudes toward uniform. The rank order of reasons for the teachers’positive attitudes were “Students in uniform are upright and look more studentlike.”,“It’s easy to supervise students outdoors.”and “Economic burden could be decreased.”“The rank order of the reasons for the negative attitudes were “It’s inconvenient for the student to be dynamic in uniform.”, “Students in uniform could hardly reveal their originality.”, and “Students cannot feel free in mind with uniform.”5. Teachers overall showed positive attitudes toward uniform whether they work ar schools with uniform or without it.

The goal of this study was to explore the existing program of resident practice structured for female students in order to propose its restructuring for male and female students in the secondary school. A sample of 30 teachers charged a program of resident practice and 55 home economics teachers completed self report measures of resident practice program. Interviews were conducted with 20 teachers to do in-depth research. The results indicated that, consistent with some previous research, there were some problems on facilities and program contents of resident practice. However, there were almost consistent with the required contents of program for male and female students. Significant differences were found only for the program contents such as table settings, wearing a traditional clothing and arranging flowers. A qualitative research showed that resident practice was equally important for the well-being of male and female students and preparing the 21st century. Respondents proposed that the program contents should be focused on traditional propriety and etiquette for daily life. More especially, the data illustrated how importance of the resident practice program should be a mechanism to be a human-centered education. The problems of resident practice for male and female students also was considered. Qualitative answers were suggested for the question : How the hall. Implications for resident practitioners, home economics educators, educational policy maker, as well as suggestions for future research were discussed.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the recognition degrees of contents in Home Economics textbook for middle school students among pre-middle school students and their parents. It is for developing better Home Economics textbook. Three objectives of this study were ; 1) To find the recognition degrees of the fact that Home Economics subject is supposed to utilize for not only girls, but boys students in middle schools in 1996 among pre-middle school students and their parents. 2) To find the degrees of necessity in each field of Home Economics subject among pre-middle school students and their parents. 3) To find the differences in recognition degrees of understandings, attitudes, and sills of Home Economics subject between pre-middle school students and their parents. Questionnaire survey method was utilized to 1,205 sixth grade students and their parents in Pusan. The results of this study as follows; 1) It was low that the recognition degrees of the fact that Home Economics subject is supposed to utilize for both girls and boys in middle school among both pre-middle school students and their parents. This result implies that it is important to important to disseminate the curriculum change in Home Economics practice to the public. 2) It was high that the recognition degree of necessity in each field of Home Economics subject among pre-middle school students and their parents. The recognition degree were different according to sociodemographic factors. That is , $\circled1$the recognition degrees of students were lower than their parents; $\circled2$ the recognition degrees of parents who have high education were higher than those who have low education ; $\circled3$ the recognition degree of an environmental field was highest. 3) There were little differences between pre-middle school students and their parents in the recognition degrees of understandings, attitudes, and skills of Home Economics subjects: The recognition degrees of girls fathers showed higher scores than boys fathers those of in understandings and skills of Home Economics subject. The recognition degrees of girls fathers showed higher scores than those of girls in attitudes of Home Economics subject.

The purpose of this thesis is to expound reference data on class management such as class formation and so on by comparing Home Economics Education effect of coeducational class and one-sex class in the coeducational middle school. The major findings were follow: 1. More than half of those teacher who answered choose a coeducational class style as an effective class style(51.7%) because of active class atmosphere, preparation for future home life and getting over fixed sexual ideas by equal curricula content. 2. The results of research for basic knowledge about the Part of Food and Nutritional Science, which was conducted before the class, showed that the score of the one-sex class was higher than that of the coeducational calss(p<0.05) 3. The results of evaluation after class were as follows: The score of one-sex class was higher in the protein food group(p<0.01) and carbohydrate food group(p<0.05). The difference of each class in the calcium food group, the mineral and vitamin food group and the oil and fats food group was very small. The total score of two classes was of little difference.

This study aims at seeking the effective career guidance and operational plan. We collected data from questionaries to 305 students of vocational school, and 135 students on vocational course for the recognition of and request for vocational home economics curriculum. Collected data were analysed by frequency, percentage, and X(sup)2, and SPSS/PC(sup)+ program are used for the statistical analysis. 1. The main considerations of students in their decision of course were the accessibility of getting a job, or a higher education aptitude, interest, and so on. They made their own decision in choosing their course, relatively were satisfied with their choices. As for the course after graduation they hoped to come by a job related to their major in order to have3 an opportunity for further education, and teachers stood up for the large extent to which their students are satisfied with vocational training by answering that there would be higher possibility of using their major. 2 The results of the investigation into the desirable home economics vocational training in future showed that students of vocational schools desired for the scientific teaching and learning method. Students on vocational curse requested that the educational system should be supported. And new curricula were those for gerontology. interior design, and cookery and bakery.

The purpose of this study was to find out the relationships among snacks, unbalanced diet, and eating behaviors of middle school students. Subjects of this study were randomly selected from middle school students living in ChungBuk and data were collected by questionaires. Major findings were as follows: First, majority of respondents felt snacks necessary for them. They were influenced by T. V advertisement when they chose snacks. Most students had snacks habitually, and girl students had snacks more freqently than boy students. The students who had more pocketmoney had more snack than those who had less pocktmoney. Second, girl students were more fastidious than boy students about foods. The students who took instant noodles an snacks more frequently got lower scores of eating behaviors than those who took instant noodles and snacks more frequently got lower scores of eating behaviors than those who took instant noodles and snacks less frequently. Finally frequent snacks and unbalanced diet had strong relationships with lower scores of eating behaviors. In conclusion, the findings implied that nutrition-education through mass media like. T.V may be effective and nutrition education also should be practiced both at school and at home for the students’good eating behaviors and health.

The purposes of the study were to: (1) develop instructional method for consumer education of home economics in the middle school. (2) test the effectiveness of the developing instructional method focusing on the problem solving. In the method of the research, literature review related to the consumer education. models of teaching and characteristics of problem solving method were studied. Also, on the basis of theoretical evidence. the teaching plan focusing on problem solving method was developed. In addition, experimental research was done to find out the learning effectiveness on the developing instructional method of the study. This experimental research were made in the six classes of the three middle school in Seoul. For the statistical analysis of the study, frequency, mean and two way ANOVA(factorial design) were used. The results of this study were summarized as follows; (1) The developed instructional method of the study was more effective than the traditional lecture method. (2) The effects of the teaching-learning method were depended on the sex. The learning effects on the female students were higher than the male students. (3) The learning effects on the students were influenced by the sex and teaching method.

The purpose of this study was investigate teachers’demands for home economics guidebooks of senior high school. Home economics teachers of the 379 schools were systematic all selected in nationwide random sampling, and over half of them responded to the mailed questionnaire. These data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, t-test, crosstab ulations, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlations. The findings of this study were as follows: 1) Three kinds of guidbooks and textbooks were mainly used, and over 50% of teachers were using more than one guidebooks to prepare lectures, specially, housing unit. But the satisfaction with the guidebooks was about average. 2) Teachers had different opinions on the information in the housing unit of the guidebook. 3) The most respondents updated statistics, pictures, and practical materials.

The purpose of this study is to investigate teachers’ recognition in Food/Nutrition, Textile/Clothing part in Home Economics Text Book of Middle School and to provide the basic data for the improvement of its curriculum. 147 Home Economics teachers in Taegu city and Kyungsangbukdo area responded to the questionnaire. The results are summarized as follows: 1. Most of Home Economics teachers have graduated Dept. of Home Economics Education and have ever taken teacher training. And even those who ever taken teacher training are not satisfied with training curriculum contents. Therefore, the result of this study shows that teacher training curriculum contents should be improved so as to be helpful for the actual teaching and learning. 2. In terms of the suitability of contents of food & nutrition and contents of textiles & clothing to the student’s learning development levels, the degree of suitability is in the order of nutrition & health, nutrition in adolescence, food selection, kinds and functions of nutrients in food & nutrition curriculum, and in the order of suitable clothing, mixture rate of fabrics, purchase of clothing, clothing in adolescence, clothing selection. The contents of making processed foods and usage of sewing machine of the existing text book have turned out not to be appropriate. 3. Most teachers suggest that dietary guideline for health, misconception about food & nutrition selection of ready-made suit suitable clothing for situation & character as well as the contents of the existing text book should be included in the new text book.
