The purpose of this paper is to investigate counting-based and collection-based computation of the elementary mathematics textbook in Korea and United States of America. As a results, we will provide some suggestive points through how to use and activity of number line, decomposing number, counting, grouping and so on by analyzing counting and collection-based computation in the elementary mathematics textbook of Korea and United States of America.

This study was conducted as a part of the project to evaluate the quality of mathematics instruction in the national curriculum system. The purpose of this study is to measure the consistency between teaching goals of mathematics curriculum, contents presentation of textbooks, and testing including adequacy of each element in mathematics instruction for 8th grade. To do this, we used MIQP (instructional quality profile for Mathematics) developed basing on the instructional quality profile (IQP) in the previous research of the project. First, the quality of textbooks' content presentation for 8th grade was found that the desirable levels in number and operation area and geometric area was relatively less compared to other areas, but it was generally good. Second, it was found that the quality of mathematics testing for 8th grade was good in terms of consistency with the curriculum's teaching goals, consistency with the content presentation of textbooks, and adequacy of testing. However, regional differences in the quality of testing showed that there were some deficiencies in regions outside the metropolitan.

In the 2015 revised curriculum, "creative and convergent talent prize" was presented as a human resource to be pursued by current curriculum. The core competencies that future talent should have are self-management capacity, knowledge information processing capacity, creative thinking capacity, aesthetic capacity, communicative competence, and community competence. The researcher believes that among the six core competencies, the ability to have more attention today is aesthetic capacity and that mathematics education should pursue it. The mathematical teaching methods based on Rudolf Steiner's anthroposophy education theory is an education that actively raises the aesthetic sensitivity of students. Therefore, this study investigates the features of educational methods based on the Steiner's anthroposophy and examines mathematics education methods based on them.

The purpose of this article is to study the change of mathematics teaching efficacy of pre-service mathematics teachers in teaching practice course. For this purpose we collect data through questionnaire from 61 pre-service mathematics teachers. To make a questionnaire we rearrange Ryang's MTES items. The pre-service mathematics teachers fill out the questionnaire before and after teaching practice course. The data are analyzed by paired t-test using SPSS23. The result of paired t-test show that the difference between pre-test scores and post-test scores is significant statistically. So we can conclude that the mathematics teaching efficacy of pre-service mathematics teachers is changed and improved after teaching practice course.

Recently, Topological Data Analysis (TDA) has attracted attention among various techniques for analyzing big data. Mapper algorithm, which is one of TDA techniques, is used to visualize the cluster diagram. In this study, students were clustered according to the characteristics and degree of mathematics anxiety using a mapper, and students were visualized according to mathematics anxiety. In order to do this, Mathematical Anxiety Scale (Ko & Yi, 2011) in the aspect of mathematical instability in terms of teaching - learning, ie, Nature of Mathematics, Learning Strategy, Test/Performance is used. And the number of questions that measure the anxiety of mathematics can be extracted by extracting the most relevant items among the items that measure the anxiety of mathematics.

The character education has been regarded as important in nature and purpose of mathematics education. A discussion about models for the teaching of character to a student has been. However, The character education of teachers has not gathered as much attention as that of students in mathematics education. How to educate morally and ethically sound mathematics teachers is an important research topic to be sincerely inquired in current. Little attention has been given to the way how we prepare a morally humane pre-mathematics teacher. This paper inquires into the issues of character education in pre-mathematics teacher education.

This study examined preservice elementary teachers' patterns and tendencies in thinking of drawn models of multiplication with fractions. In particular, it investigated preservice elementary teachers' work in a context where they were asked to select among drawn models for symbolic expressions illustrating multiplication with non-whole number fractions including a mixed number. Preservice teachers' interpretations of fraction multiplication used in interpreting different types of drawn models were analysed-both quantitatively and qualitatively. Findings and implications are discussed and further research is suggested.

The purpose of this paper is to reinterpret and visualize Pappus' methods for trisecting the angle by utilizing the Nicomedes' conchoid and Apollonius' symptom of a hyperbola. In particular, we reinterpret the Pappus' three results which are the methods of hyperbola and circle, the trisection of the arc and focus and directrix of the hyperbola by 3 steps(analysis, construction, and proof) in the current middle school curriculum of Mathematics. Moreover, we visualize the construction of an hyperbola which is represented by means of an eccentricity.
