  • The sexual discourse has been frequent, but the subjects of it have been limited to the young, and the sex of women and that of the old people, until now, have been overlooked. According to the data in 2,000 of the Korea Statistic Service, the older-than-sixty-five-year people consist of 37.4% men and 62.6% women. Of them, the older-than-seventy-year people consist of 33.8% men and 55.2% women. The data show the fact that as the age of the old people is higher, the number of old women is enlarging. Paying attention to the above-mentioned tendency, this study conducted a survey about the aspects of the sexual consciousness of old women. The purpose of study was focused, through the survey, on discovering the ways of old women's recognization about their sexual desire, and on presenting basic data to developing the programs which could solve the problems derived from the discovery. That is to say, the purpose of it was to prevent the sexual desire's distortion and suppression of old women, if they had any, and to present basic data to developing the programs which could convert their recognization of sex. The objects of the survey were the sample group of 301 people inhabiting in Hwaseong City, Seongnam City, Yongin City, and Suwon City, chosen out of 375,298 old women of 614,316 older-than-sixty-five-year people in Kyeonggi Province (Kyeonggi Province homepage, 2002). The data were collected by the questionnairers' interviews in the fields of old men's resting house, churches, temples, old men's niversities and so like, from September 19th to September 31th in 2003. The questionnairers as volunteers were taught the prior education, being prepared for the survey about old women's sexual consciousness. The contents of education were composed of the understanding of old women, the ways of questionnairing, and the items of questionnaire. The outcomes of the survey are following; First, concerning general items, the old women of the sample group answered that they felt greatly the difficulties of health(36.5%), economy(12.0%), and loneliness(11.3%) in turn. The 48.2% of them answered that they were healthy, but the 62.3% answered that they were suffering various illnesses. The 24.4% answered they were economically rich, and the 23.9% answered they were working. The 53.5% were living alone due to divorce or death. The 71.1% had been living for more than ten years. The 83.1% believed in their own religion. Second, the 43.8% of the sample group admitted the necessity of a heterosexual friend and sexuality The 39.0% felt sexual desire, and the 33.9% were experiencing sexuality. As the obstructing factors in performing sexuality, the objects of sample group pointed out shamefulness or morality(28.7%), anxiety that such deeds might afflict their health or the problem of health itself(20.2%), weakening of sexual potency(16.9%). This outcome shows that they have ambiguous notions about their sexual alienation and manner. Third, the 33.7% of the sample group admitted sexual education and sexual counsel, and of those that admitted them, the 85.2% said that they would take part in sexual education if it were held. It shows that the demand of sexual education and sexual counsel need be fulfilled. Therefore, through this study, the following two important suggestions can be drawn: First, systematic sexual education programs should be developed, considering old people's developing steps containing their rights of health and sex. Also those should be educated through kindergartens, primary, middle and higher education institutions. Second, sexual education and sexual counsel on prospective old people and present old people should be performed.

  • The forest slopes cause substantial local changes in soil properties and an increase in soil erosion after extreme rainstorms. The high soil erosion rates on forest slopes need the effective use of growing media to control the soil runoff. Therefore, we prepared six different lignocellulosic growing media such as peat, perlite, and wood meal as the base materials and carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), glucomannan, starch, old corrugated containerboard, and computer printout as the additional materials for the prevention of simulated rainfall-induced runoff. The growing media containing old corrugated containerboard efficiently reduced the percentage of soil runoff; however, it could not completely cushion the influence of crust. The best results for plant growth, except in the leaf area, were also obtained with the growing media containing old corrugated containerboard, suggesting an interesting way of paper recycling and an economic benefit for plant or crop growth in forest slope.

  • Mycoplasma pneumoniae(M. pneumoniae) is the leading cause of pneumonia in school-age children and young adults. The clinical courses are usually mild but recently, severe cases were reported such as lung abscess, Swyer-James syndrome and adult respiratory distress syndrome. Spontaneous pneumothorax associated with M. pneumoniae infection is rare. Carlisle reported a 6-year-old patient with bilateral spontaneous pneumothorax associated with M. pneumoniae infection and Koura also reported a 18-year-old girl with repeated. M. pneumoniae pneumonia with recurrent pneumothorax. We experienced bilateral spontaneous tension pneumothorax and subcutaneous emphysema associated with M. pneumoniae infection in a 6-year-old boy who presented with dyspnea, chest pain, and neck swelling. We reported it as the first case in Korea.

  • This report describes three cases of 22q11.2 deletion syndrome (22q11.2DS) diagnosed by array comparative genomic hybridization with final adult height and bone phenotype. The cases involved a 57-year-old woman with hypocalcemic seizure, an 18-year-old man with short stature, and a 24-year-old woman incidentally diagnosed as 22q11.2DS. The first two patients revealed short stature and low bone mineral density, and their deletion sites included the $TBX_1$. The third patient had normal stature and normal bone mineral density, and the deletion site did not include the $TBX_1$. The deletion of specific genes including the $TBX_1$ could be an important factor of skeletal development including height and bone mineral density of 22q11.2DS.

  • This research provides practical data to develop UV protection masks and dust protection masks. It surveyed uncomfortable factors and significant characteristics for masks. It used 653 subjects 20-79 years old and performed the research from April to May in 2014. Wearing masks at outdoor activities is not widely popular yet, but golf players, mountaineers and old people were quite interested in masks. People mainly wore a basic shape mask, but main age group of each mask shape was different. People usually prioritized the protection function and comfort of wearing over design; however, women, young generation and people attending to outdoor activities longer than 1 hour considered design quite important. People going on picnic or camping consider mask characteristics most important. Therefore, various mask shapes and protective functions should be developed to reflect consumer needs. Meanwhile, the discomfort levels of masks were not too high, but old people felt more discomfort than young people. The most discomfort factors were 'other's eye', 'distracting face movement' and 'feeling of foreign object'. They also mentioned falling problem of C shape mask and short-rib shape mask, and asked for a 'tighter fit' at the ear.

  • We analyzed the effects of regular Jjimjilbang(Korean sauna) exposure on the heat tolerance in young and old females. Subjects were young(n=7) and old(n=7) females who never had a bath in Jjimjilbang for last year. Jjimjilbang training group took a bath in Jjimjilbang once a week 19 times. Jjimjibang expsure was limited three times per day, Jjimjil were taken free way. To prove the effects of the heat tolerance, Subjects were exposed to hot and humid air$(40.0{\pm}0.5^{\circ}C,\;60{\pm}5%RH)$. In the condition, subjects were taken a foot bathing$(40.0{\pm}0.5^{\circ}C)$ and simulated for 30 min., and rectal temperature, skin temperatures, clothing microclimate, blood pressure, total body weight loss, local sweat and subjective sensation were measured. The results are as follow: Rectal temperature, skin temperatures, clothing microclimate, total body weight and subjective thermal comfort sensation were decreased gradually(p<.001). Local sweat of upper arm was decreased(p<.01). In conclusion. the regular Jjimjilbang exposure has positive effects upon improvement in regulation of body temperature, especially in heat tolerance.

  • In this study, the leaves of aronia (Aronia melanocarpa) across different stages of maturity were collected and their chlorophyll content, antioxidant content, and activity were analyzed. The leaves of the selected aronia cultivars ('Viking', 'McKenzie', and 'Kingstar K1') were harvested in June (young-stage leaf) and in August (old-stage leaf). The antioxidant content and activity of all three aronia cultivar leaves were significantly higher in the young-stage leaves than in the old-stage leaves. The main polyphenols in aronia leaves were catechol and chlorogenic acid, which tended to decrease as maturation progressed. As a result, the young-stage aronia leaves contained more abundant flavonoids, phenolic compounds, and polyphenols with higher antioxidant activity than those in the old-stage leaves. Overall, our findings indicate that aronia leaves contain potential bioactive compounds that could be used to develop functional food ingredients.

  • Baskoro et al. [1] provided some constructions of new super edge-magic graphs from some old ones by attaching 1, 2, or 3 pendant vertices and edges. In this paper, we introduce (q, m)-super edge-magic total labeling and we give a construction of new super edge-magic graphs by attaching n pendant vertices and edges under some conditions, for any positive integer n. Also, we give a constraint on our construction.
