Technique development of Bi-2212/2223 superconductor thick film manufacturing by plasma spraying and heat treatment (플라즈마 용사 및 열처리 공정을 통한 Bi-2212/2223 초전도체 thick film 제조의 기술 개발)

  • $Bi_{2}Sr_{2}CaCu_{2}O_{x}$(Bi-2212) and $Bi_{2}Sr_{2}Ca_{2}Cu_{3}O_{y}$(Bi-2223) high-$T_{c}$ superconductor(HTS) coating have been prepared by plasma spraying and heaat treatment. The Bi-2212 HTS coating later is synthesized through the peritectic reaction between Sr-Ca-Cu oxide coating layer and Bi-Cu oxide coating later, and $Bi_{2}Sr_{2}CaCu_{2}O_{y}$(Bi-2212) superconducting phase grow by partial melting process. The superconducting characteristic depends strongly on the conditions of the partial melting process. the Bi-2212 HTS layer consists of the whiskers grown in the diffusion direction. Above the 2212 layer, Bi-2223 phase and secondary phase was observed. The secondary phase is distributed uniformly over the whole surface. This is caused to the microcrack on the coatings surface. Despite everything, the film shows superconducting with an onset $T_{c}$ of about 115K. There are two changes steps. One changes (1step) at 115K is due to the diamagnetism of the Bi-2223 phase and the other changes (2step) at 78K is due to the diamagnetism of the Bi-2212 phase.

  • This paper describes a two-step approach for the electrochemical deposition of CdZnS thin films on the polycrystalline Au electrode. Initially, an Au substrate is electrochemically modified with a sulfur layer. In the second step, the layer is electroreduced to $S^{2-}$ in the electrolyte dosed with the requisite amount of $Cd^{2+}$ and $Zn^{2+}$ ions to generate CdZnS films in situ. This approach was validated using a combination of linear sweep voltammetry and electrochemical quartz crystal microgravimetry. Thus synthesized CdZnS thin films have different composition depending on the composition of electrolytes. CdZnS thin films are characterized by energy-dispersive X-ray analysis and Raman spectroscopy.

Effects of Dan Jeon Breathing Exercise on Physical Health Promotion in Middle Aged Women (중년여성의 신체적 건강증진에 미치는 단전호흡의 효과)

  • Purpose: This study was to examine the effects of Dan Jeon Breathing on physical health promotion in middle aged women. Method: This study was quasi-experimental with a nonequivalent control group pre-post test design. The subjects were classified into an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group had 21 middle-aged women who did Dan Jeon Breathing, the control group consisted of 22 middle aged women. Dan Jeon Breathing was carried out for 40 minutes a day, 3 times a week for 6 weeks. The difference between the experimental group and control group was verified with an $x^2$-test, t-test and paired and unpaired t-test. Results: The score of physical symptoms for the experimental group was lower than that of the control group. The score of physical strength for the experimental group was higher than that of the control group. Conclusion: Dan Jeon Breathing can be a physical health promotion for middle aged women. In terms of nursing practice, Dan Jeon Breathing can be utilized as a nursing intervention for physical well-being of middle aged women.

Effects of Assertiveness Training for ICU Nurses (중환자실 간호사를 위한 자기주장훈련의 효과)

  • Purpose: This study was done to examine the effects of assertiveness training on Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nurses' assertive behavior, job stress, communication conflict, and self-esteem toward improving their communication skills and coping. Methods: The assertiveness training program was developed to a 10-hour program consisting of 3 sessions. The goals were to understand assertive behavior and learn how to practice assertive communication in general conflict situations and/or a difficult conflict situation in the ICU. Participants were 65 nurses recruited from a tertiary teaching hospital and of these, 27 nurses completed the program. Data were collected from Jan. 30th to Mar. 28th, 2009 using a questionnaire which included demographic characteristics, assertive behaviour scale, job stress scale, communication conflict inventory-specific, and self-esteem scale. Data were analyzed using SPSS v. 14.0 for $x^2$ test and t-test. Results: ICU nurses in the experimental group had a significant increase in aspects of assertive behavior and a decrease in job stress. Conclusion: The results of the study indicate that assertiveness training is effective in increasing ICU nurses' assertive behavior and decreasing job stress through reinforcement of assertiveness behavior.

The Effects of Visual Health Promotion Program for Preschool Children (학령전기 아동의 시력건강증진 프로그램 효과)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identify the effects of visual health promotion program for preschool children. Method: The experimental group participating in the visual health promotion program was 32 preschool children and the control group consisted of 34 preschool children by homogeneous age. The visual health promotion program was based on articles related to childern's visual health promotion and previous education program. Data were collected with 3 questionnaires that modified by the investigator. The data was analyzed by the SPSS win 10.0 program using descriptive statistics, $x^2$ test, t-test. Result: The level of knowledge about visual health promotion of preschool children who participated in the visual health promotion program was significantly higher than preschool children who did not participate(t=.02, P<.001). The level of behavior about visual health promotion of preschool children who participated in the visual health promotion program was significantly higher than preschool children who did not participate(t=.31, P<.001). Conclusion: The visual health promotion program developed in this study is an effective strategy for nursing intervention by increasing knowledge and behavior about visual health promotion of preschool children.

Imparting Disperse and Cationic Dyeability to Polypropylene through Melt Blending

  • The present paper deals with improvement in disperse dyeablility as well as imparting of cationic dyeablility to difficultly dyeable polypropylene by a melt blending technique. Isotactic polypropylene (PP) was blended with fibre grade polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), cationic dyeable polyethylene terephthalate (CDPET) and polystyrene (PS), individually. The resulting binary blends were spun and drawn into fibres at draw ratio 2, 2.5, and 3. The compatibility of blends, structural changes of fibres in terms of X-ray crystallinity, relative crystallinity, sonic modulus, birefringence and thermal stability were examined. The blended fibres were found to be disperse dyeable by the conventional method of high temperature and high pressure dyeing. And this dye ability increased with increase in the level of substitution. PP/CDPET blend also exhibited dyeablility with cationic dyes in addition to that with disperse dyes. The optimum level of blending was predicted keeping in view of tenacity and thermal stability of melt blend fibres. The wash fastness properties of the dyed fibres were found to be of high rate.

The Microwave Dielectric Characteristics of $(\textrm{Li}_{1/2}\textrm{Nd}_{1/2})\textrm{TiO}_{3}$ Ceramics by the Annealing Effects (Annealing 효과에 의한 $(\textrm{Li}_{1/2}\textrm{Nd}_{1/2})\textrm{TiO}_{3}$ 세라믹스의 고주파 유전특성)

  • 공진 주파수 온도 계수($\tau$$_{f}$)가 큰 음의 값을 가지는 (Li$_{1}$2Nd$_{1}$2)TiO$_{3}$(LNT) 고주파 유전체를 125$0^{\circ}C$에서 140$0^{\circ}C$까지의 온도에서 2시간동안 소결을 하였고 소결후에는 소결온도보다 약간 낮은 120$0^{\circ}C$에서 5시간 동안 annealing을 실시를 하였다. 그리고 열처리에 의한 상, 미세구조의 변화를 X-ray, SEM을 통해서 분석하였으며, 열처리가 고주파 유전물성에 대해 미치는 영향에 대해서도 고찰하였다. 130$0^{\circ}C$에서 135$0^{\circ}C$ 근방에서 소결시킨 재료는 Annealing효과에 의해 소결체에 균일한 입도 분포가 증진되었고 체적 밀도가 향상되었으며, 열처리 효과에 의해 품질계수(Q)값이 향상되었고 유전상수($\varepsilon$$_{r}$)는 약간 감소하였으며 공진주파수 온도계수($\tau$$_{f}$)는 더 큰 음의 값을 가지게 되었다. 그러나 135$0^{\circ}C$이상에서 소결한 경우에는 비정상적인 입자 성장에 의해 밀도가 감소되며, 이에 따라 고주파 유전특성이 전반적으로 저하되었다.었다.

The Prevalent Rates of Abnormal Serum Aminotransferase Levels and Total Cholesterol Levels among Adolescents with Obesity (청소년기 비만아에서 이상 혈청 간효소치 및 총콜레스테롤치의 유병율)

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to look at prevalences of abnormal serum aminotransferase levels and abnormal serum total cholesterol levels among adolescents with obesity in Seoul area. Methods : Body mass index[$BMI(kg/m^2)$], serum aspartate aminotransferase(AST) alanine aminotransferase( ALT), and total cholesterol levels were measured in 26,876 adolescents(male : 13,287, female : 13,589) of first grade of high school in Seoul between the ages of 15 and 16 years, enrolled in a large health examination survey by Seoul School Health Center(SSHC) in 2001. Obesity was defined as BMI more than 95th percentile for age and sex and normal weight was defined as BMI between 25th percentile and 75th percentile for age and sex. Abnormal levels of AST, ALT and total cholesterol were defined as more than 95th percentile for age and sex. Results : The BMI at 95th percentile was 28.7 in males and 26.9 in females. The prevalence of abnormal AST levels was higher in obesity group than in normal weight group. In males, those were 23.7% and 3.7%, respectively(P<0.01, $x^2-value$ : 529.2). In females, those were 11.8% and 4.9 %, respectively(P<0.01, $x^2-value$ : 56.3). The prevalence of abnormal ALT levels was significantly higher in the obesity group compared with the normal weight group. In males, those were 33.9% and 1.7%, respectively(P<0.01, $x^2-value$ : 1,693.4). In females, those were 22.3% and 3.9%, repectively(P<0.01, $x^2-value$ : 397.6). The prevalence of abnormal total cholesterol levels was higher in the obesity group than in the normal weight group. In males, those were 16.8% and 3.5%, respectively(P<0.01, $x^2-value$ : 268.3). In females, those were 9.0% and 5.4%, respectively(P<0.01, $x^2-value$ : 14.2). Conclusion : This study revealed that the prevalences of abnormal AST, ALT and total cholesterol level were higher in the obese group than in the normal weight group.

Verification of Anti-Inflammatory Effects of Strawberry (Fragaria x ananassa var. 'Seolhyang') Stems on Macrophages Stimulated by Lipopolysaccharides (LPS로 자극된 대식세포에 대한 딸기 줄기의 항염증 효능 검증)

  • In strawberry farming, most parts of strawberry stems but the fruit have been dumped. Therefore, this study attempted to investigate the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects of strawberry stems which are thrown away after farming. For this, strawberry stem extracts were obtained, using hot water and 70% ethanol. First, total polyphenol contents of the hot water and ethanol extract were checked (265.4 ± 0.12 mg TAE/100 g, 503.88 ± 0.2 mg TAE/100 g). For analysis of antioxidant activities, electron donating ability (EDA) and 2,2'-azinobis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) radical scavenging activity were measured. Both extracts increased in a dose-dependent fashion, and similar effects with vitamin C (control group) were confirmed. In terms of cell viability of the hot water and ethanol extracts of strawberry stems, 'RAW 264.7' was 99% or higher at 500 ㎍/ml. In addition, cell experiments were conducted at 50, 100 and 500 ㎍/ml where cell viability is above 99%. In terms of inhibition of the inflammatory mediator 'nitric oxide (NO)', the hot water and ethanol extracts of strawberry stems were 37.9% and 38.8% respectively, confirming the inhibition of NO production. To check anti-inflammatory activities, protein and mRNA expressions of 'iNOS' and 'COX-2' were measured, using RAW 264.7. Compared to the LPS group, the protein expression of the inflammatory mediators was inhibited in the hot water and ethanol extract-treated groups. The above results confirmed that the hot water and ethanol extracts of strawberry stems are valuable as natural substances with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities.

Development and Validation of a Career Decision-Making Scale for Scientifically Gifted Undergraduates (과학영재 대학생을 위한 진로결정 요인 척도개발 및 타탕화)

  • What are the critical factors in deciding future career to the gifted and talented students? The present study started with this question, and was to develop a career decision-making scale for scientifically gifted undergraduates. For this, literatures related to the scientifically gifted/talent and scientists' career decision-making were reviewed and examined in depth. Based on the review of the related literature, the developed scale of career decision-making was comprised of 26 items in 6 factors, such as individual aptitude & self-realization, economic aspect, work & leisure, familial influence, parents/teachers' recommendation, and experience of science activity during the school days. For the preliminary exploratory factor analysis, 153 undergraduate students who were majoring in natural sciences and engineer participated in the study. For the confirmatory factor analysis, 264 undergraduates who were awarded the presidential scholarships and 93 undergraduates who completed a university-affiliated gifted education center participated. The results of the study are as follows. The fit of measurement model was found to be $x^{2}$=645.157 (df=279, p=.00), TLI=.924, CFI= .935, RMSEA=.061, indicating most of fit indexes were acceptable. Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ in each sub-factor was quite high, .82 for individual aptitude & self-realization, .94 for economic aspect, .84 for work and leisure, .88 for familial influence, .79 for patents/ teachers' recommendation, and .79 for experience of science activity during the school days. The results of the study were discussed whether the developed scale could be used as a valid and reliable tool for measuring career decision-making factors of the scientifically gifted undergraduates in our country.
