구형 3자유도 병렬 메커니즘의 기구학 해석 및 구현 (Kinematic Analysis and Implementation of a Spherical 3-Degree-of-Freedom Parallel Mechanism)

  • A new spherical-type 3-degree-of-freedom parallel mechanism consisting of a two degree-of-freedom parallel module and a serial module is proposed. Two alternative designs for the serial sub-chain are suggested and compared. The first design employs RU joint arrangement for the serial sub chain structure. The second design incorporates a gear chain to drive the distal revolute joint of the serial sub-chain from the base platform of the mechanism. This modification significantly improves kinematic characteristics of the mechanism within its workspace. Firstly, the closed-form solutions of both the forward and the reverse position analysis are derived. Secondly, the first-order kinematic model with respect to three inputs which are located at the base is derived. Thirdly, it is confirmed through simulation that the modified mechanism has much more improved isotropic characteristic throughout the workspace of the mechanism. Lastly, the proposed mechanism is implemented to verify the results from this analysis.

Development of a Washout Algorithm for a Vehicle Driving Simulator Using New Tilt Coordination and Return Mode

  • A vehicle driving simulator is a virtual reality device which makes a man feel as if he drove an actual vehicle. Unlike actual vehicles, the simulator has limited kinematical workspace and bounded dynamic characteristics. So it is difficult to simulate dynamic motions of a multi-body vehicle model. In order to overcome these problems, a washout algorithm which controls the workspace of the simulator within the kinematical limitation is needed. However, a classical washout algorithm contains several problems such as generation of wrong sensation of motions by filters in tilt coordination, requirement of trial and error method in selecting the proper cut-off frequencies and difficulty in returning the simulator to its origin using only high pass filters. This paper proposes a washout algorithm with new tilt coordination method which gives more accurate sensations to drivers. To reduce the time in returning the simulator to its origin, an algorithm that applies selectively onset mode from high pass filters and return mode from error functions is proposed. As a result of this study, the results of the proposed algorithm are compared with the results of classical washout algorithm through the human perception models. Also, the performance of the suggested algorithm is evaluated by using human perception and sensibility of some drivers through experiments.

  • JXTA는 개방형 프로토콜로서 인터넷이나 MANET(Mobile Adhoc NETwork)에서 연결된 기기들 사이의 P2P 방식 통신을 가능하게 한다. 본 논문에서는 JXTA를 기반으로 하는 스마트폰 협업 어플리케이션의 개발에 대하여 기술한다. 체계적인 개발을 위하여 P2P 네트워크에서 필요한 핵심 서비스와 협업 서비스가 정의되고, 정의된 서비스를 지원하기 위한 프로토콜이 설계된다. 개발된 어플리케이션은 다양한 가상의 작업공간을 지원하여 스마트폰을 활용한 효과적인 협업 환경을 제공하며, 모바일 네트워크에 의존하지 않고 근거리에 있는 스마트폰 사용자 간에 협업을 지원하기 때문에 재난 지역 등의 다양한 상황에서도 유용하게 사용될 수 있다.

굴삭기를 이용한 해체 장비용 원격 조종 장치 설계 (Design of a Remote Controller for Dismantling Processes Using Excavator)

  • Since the processes of dismantling are very dangerous, there have been many studies to develop remote operating devices using joystick. In this paper, in order to improve the operability of the dismantling equipment that is usually an excavator, a novel concept of tole-operated device is proposed. Operators who use this device with additional environmental sensing devices can work safely away from the dangerous sites. First, based on the concept design of the remote controller, its workspace is analyzed and the workspace mapping from the device to the excavator is explored. Second, after 7 steps of the excavating processes are defined, the kinematics which deals with the conversion from the 3 dimensional position information of the device to the joint variable information of the backhoe is included in this paper. Lastly, 3D graphical simulation of both remote controller and the backhoe will be shown. This new design of the remote control device tan be easily manufactured and gives the workers very convenient and transparent remote control capability.

3차원 작업공간에서 보행 프리미티브를 이용한 다리형 로봇의 운동 계획 (Motion Planning for Legged Robots Using Locomotion Primitives in the 3D Workspace)

  • This paper presents a motion planning strategy for legged robots using locomotion primitives in the complex 3D environments. First, we define configuration, motion primitives and locomotion primitives for legged robots. A hierarchical motion planning method based on a combination of 2.5 dimensional maps of the 3D workspace is proposed. A global navigation map is obtained using 2.5 dimensional maps such as an obstacle height map, a passage map, and a gradient map of obstacles to distinguish obstacles. A high-level path planner finds a global path from a 2D navigation map. A mid-level planner creates sub-goals that help the legged robot efficiently cope with various obstacles using only a small set of locomotion primitives that are useful for stable navigation of the robot. A local obstacle map that describes the edge or border of the obstacles is used to find the sub-goals along the global path. A low-level planner searches for a feasible sequence of locomotion primitives between sub-goals. We use heuristic algorithm in local motion planner. The proposed planning method is verified by both locomotion and soccer experiments on a small biped robot in a cluttered environment. Experiment results show an improvement in motion stability.

PRM과 포텐셜 필드 기법에 기반한 다자유도 머니퓰레이터의 충돌회피 경로계획 (Collision-Free Path Planning for a Redundant Manipulator Based on PRM and Potential Field Methods)

  • The collision-free path of a manipulator should be regenerated in the real time to achieve collision safety when obstacles or humans come into the workspace of the manipulator. A probabilistic roadmap (PRM) method, one of the popular path planning schemes for a manipulator, can find a collision-free path by connecting the start and goal poses through the roadmap constructed by drawing random nodes in the free configuration space. The path planning method based on the configuration space shows robust performance for static environments which can be converted into the off-line processing. However, since this method spends considerable time on converting dynamic obstacles into the configuration space, it is not appropriate for real-time generation of a collision-free path. On the other hand, the method based on the workspace can provide fast response even for dynamic environments because it does not need the conversion into the configuration space. In this paper, we propose an efficient real-time path planning by combining the PRM and the potential field methods to cope with static and dynamic environments. The PRM can generate a collision-free path and the potential field method can determine the configuration of the manipulator. A series of experiments show that the proposed path planning method can provide robust performance for various obstacles.

몰입형 시뮬레이션 환경을 위한 축소 모형 및 가이더 인터랙션 (Miniature and Guider Interaction for an Immersive Simulation Workspace)

  • 본 논문에서는 $CAVEW^{TM}-like$ 시스템과 같은 대형 디스플레이 기반의 몰입형 시뮬레이션 환경에 필요한 인터랙션 기법을 제안한다. 축소 모형(miniature) 인터랙션은 원거리에 있는 객체를 쉽게 선택하거나 조작하기 위하여 가상 세계 전체를 축소하여 사용자 근처에 디스플레이하고 이를 조작함으로써 대상 객체와 상호작용 할 수 있도록 해준다. 또한, 조감도(bird's eye view)로 표현되는 지도상에 사용자 위치를 표시하여 가상 세계 탐색시 이동 경로를 쉽게 파악할 수 있도록 하였다. 축소 모형은 투명 패널 인터페이스를 통하여 보여지며 사용자는 이를 이용하여 택타일 피드백(tactile feedback)을 제공 받을 수 있다. 그리드(grid)를 이용한 비주얼 가이더는 가상 세계 내에 그리드를 디스플레이하여 대상 객체와 사용자간의 위치 관계를 쉽게 파악할 수 있도록 해준다. 일반적으로 대형 디스플레이 환경에서의 인터랙션은 정확한 깊이 인식이 어렵기 때문에 인터랙션 시사용자의 불필요한 행위를 유발하게 된다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 기법은 이 같은 문제점을_개선하여 객체 조작 시 느껴지는 피로감을 최소화 시킬 수 있으며 다양한 몰입 및 상황 기반 시뮬레이션 어플리케이션에 적용되어 활성화 될 수 있다.

보존처리실 신설시 고려 사항 (Things To Be Considered for a New Conservation Laboratory)

  • 문화재 보존실은 문화재 병원과 같은 시설임에도 불구하고, 일반 사무실과 같은 기준에 따라 신설되는 것이 보통이다. 여기서는 보존실 신설시 고려해야 할 사항과 일반적인 조건들을 건축, 전기 및 조명, 공조, 소방, 기기분야로 구분해 간략하게 제시하였다. 이와함께 보존실 업무의 특성이 반영된 작업공간을 창출하는 요령으로서 처리실의 공간구획을 작업대를 기준으로 하고 기자재 배치시 상하수도 및 공조시설을 기준으로 하는 방법을 설명하였다. 처리실의 업무와 성격이 다양해 여기서 제시한 기준과 요령을 모든 경우에 적용하기는 어렵겠지만, 이러한 조건을 이해한 뒤 해당 보존실 업무의 전문성과 기능에 적당한 기준을 제시함으로서 처리실 신설계획 수립에 도움이 되었으면 한다.

회전관절만을 활용하는 병진 3자유도 병렬 메커니즘의 기구학 특성 분석 (Analysis on Kinematic Characteristics of the Revolute-joint-based Translational 3-DOF Parallel Mechanisms)

  • Two novel parallel mechanisms (PMs) employing two or three PaPaRR subchains are suggested. Each of those two PMs has translational 3-DOF motion and employs only revolute joints such that they could be adequate for haptic devices requiring minimal frictions. The position analyses of those two PMs are conducted. The mobility analysis, the kinematic modeling, and singularity analysis of each of two PMs are performed employing the screw theory. Then through optimal kinematic design, each of two PMs has excellent kinematic characteristics as well as useful workspace size adequate for haptic applications. In particular, by applying an additional redundantly actuated joint to the 2-PaPaRR type PM which has a closed-form position solution, it is shown that all of its parallel singularities within reachable workspace are completely removed and that its kinematic characteristics are improved.

비과구동, 과구동 대칭형 5R 병렬기구의 구동 및 구조 강성의 이론적 해석 (Theoretical Analyses on Actuator Stiffness and Structural Stiffness of Non-redundant and Redundant Symmetric 5R Parallel Mechanisms)

  • Redundant actuated parallel kinematic machines (PKMs) have been widely researched to increase stiffness of PKMs. This paper presents theoretical analyses on the stiffness of non-redundant and redundant actuated PKM. Stiffness of each mechanism is defined by summation of actuator and structural stiffness; the actuator stiffness is determined from displacements of actuators, and the structural stiffness is determined from deformations of links by external forces. Calculated actuator and structural stiffness of non-redundant PKM show same distribution in entire workspace. On the contrary, the actuator and the structural stiffness of a redundant PKM has very different distribution in the workspace; so, we conclude the structural stiffness of redundant PKM should be considered to design the redundant PKM. The results can be used to design and analyze non-redundant and redundant PKMs.
