Currently, Korea is on the verge of entering into an ultra-aged society and the associated market size is growing. In this regard, customer-centered design that understands the consumer needs of the new silver generation, which is emerging as a new consumer group, and reflects them in products is the key to the success of the high-value-added fashion industry. Therefore, this study reviewed the changes in physical, biological, social, and psychological characteristics of the new silver generation, through a review of related books and previous studies, and secured the direction for clothing product development for the new silver generation. The literature review was supplemented by group interviews to accurately identify the needs of silver consumers. In addition, the study conducted case analysis through web searches of fashion magazines, newspaper articles, brand web sites, and trend information sites to investigate the market trends of one-mile wear products that have emerged due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the characteristics of one-mile wear brands, and products for new silver women, including size specification analysis and sewing techniques that minimize skin irritation while reflecting the consumer's characteristics. Based on the results of this study, a competitive design and product development were proposed from an economic and industrial perspective that can enhance the product value and maximize the marketing effect by developing consumer-oriented one-mile comfort wear products with aesthetic, practical, functional, and economic values that satisfy the characteristics and needs of new silver women.
The purpose of this research was to explore Korean-Chinese women's experiences of family separation. A qualitative approach was used to analyze the in-depth interviews with 14 Korean-Chinese women who lived away from their families in China. Korean-Chinese women showed the child-centered family values. The main reason of family separation was to provide children of better educational opportunities. Korean-Chinese women, their husbands, and their extended family members worked as a team to support children. Their cohesive family relationships reflected the unique sociocultural context of Korean-Chinese society. Family separation seems to be normalized for the purpose of child education. The research would contribute to understand how family values affect family life style.
This study analyzed the correlation between the sources of the complaints and various factors such as gender, garment type, fabric type, textile material and washing methods for products. This survey utilized a total of 2,609 consumer apparel product complaint cases filed with the Korea Consumer Agency between 1997 and 2009. In regards to consumer liability: it was found that more incidents of failures due to carelessness were reported among men's clothes, knitted garments, cotton clothes, polyester clothes, wool blend clothes, pants, shirts, sportswear, and laundry only clothes. In regards to dry cleaner's liability: women's goods, woven clothes, silk clothes, cotton blend clothes, jackets, shirts and hanbok, and dry clean only clothes indicated problems more frequently. In regards to manufacture's liability: women's clothes, woven clothes, wool clothes, silk clothes, wool blend clothes, polyester blend clothes, formal dress clothes, jackets, hanbok, and dry clean only clothes indicated problems more frequently. This study provides consumers with information necessary to take preventive measures and basic information that can be utilized to improve the quality of production and services by understanding the sources of dissatisfaction, type of clothes found with problems, and the main causes of consumer complaints for garment products according to who is liable.
The purpose of this study was to identify the differences n preference of advertisement and intention to buy the advertised jeans among the consumer groups which perceived eroticism and attraction of female model in advertising differently. he data were collected using questio-nnaires which contained eleven advertisements of Guess jeans selected form Vogue magazine publ-ished from 1990 to 1996. Female college students (n=270) living in Seoul Korea participated in the study. The data were analyzed by one-way ANOVA. he results of this study were as follows:First there were significant differences in preference of advertisement and intentio to buy the advertised jeans among the consumer groups which had different perceptions of eroticism and attraction of model in the case of eleven advert-isements. Second consumer group which perceived model erotic and attractive highly had the most preference of advertisement and intention to buy the advertised jeans, However consumer group which perceived model low in two aspects had the lowest preference and intention to buy. Third consumer group which perceived model a low erotic but highly attractive women had a higher preference of advertisement and intention to buy the advertised jeans than consumer gorup which perceived model a highly erotic but low attractive women or the former group was similar in prefe-rence and intention to buy to the latter group.
The purpose of this study was to examine a path analysis of perceived service quality, store image, alternative store attraction, consumer satisfaction and switching barrier perception on store loyalty in apparel product purchasing. The questionnaire was administered to 450 women shopped in a department store in Gwang-ju during September, 12-26, 2002. Data collected from 384 women were analyzed by using frequency, multiple regression analysis, path analysis by SPSS for WIN program. The results were as follows ; First, the switching barrier perception, consumer satisfaction, perceived service quality, store image significantly influenced store loyalty. Second, the consumer satisfaction, perceived service quality, store image, alternative store's attraction significantly influenced switching barrier perception. Third, the perceived service quality, store image, alternative store's attraction significantly influenced consumer satisfaction. Fourth, the perceived service quality, store image, alternative store's attraction had indirect effects on store loyalty mediated by consumer satisfaction and switching barrier perception. The consumer satisfaction had indirect effects on store loyalty mediated by switching barrier perception. In short, perceived service quality, store image, alternative store's attraction influenced on store loyalty mediated by consumer satisfaction and switching perception.
The major purpose of this study was to develop the nutrition education contents and material through the basic data from the service provider and the consumer. And also, to find out the differences of attitude and needs between the service provider (SP breastfeeding specialist), present consumer (PC, pregnant or lactating women) and future consumer (FC, college women). There were types of questionnaires, which consisted of needs and attitudes toward child and maternal nutrition, as well as the personal characteristics of the study subjects. The subjects consisted of 113 breastfeeding specialists who served at medical related institutions, 197 pregnant or lactating women and 309 college women. The self-administered questionnaires from subjects were collected from October to November 2005 in Seoul and Kyunggi Province. The data was analysed by SPSS Win 12.0, ANOVA and Kruskal-Wallis test. The results of this study were as following: 1) The most Important determining factors on breastfeeding was 'medical specialist's support' (3.51) and the next one was 'knowledge of maternity care practice' (3.39). And the importance score of determinating factors on breastfeeding was significantly different between each group (p < 0.001). The groups of consumer (3.50 at PC and 3.59 at FC) considered the service provider (3.32) more important. The service providers considered a more effective determining factor to be 'husband and family support' and 'peer support' than the others (p <0.001). 2) To compare the effective factors of breastfeeding practices between the three groups, the service providers were more significantly considered than the otters such as 'attendance of intervention program' (p < 0.001). But the PC group considered the most effective factors wis 'mother's job after delivery'. 3) The self-evaluated score of the breastfeeding knowledge was the most high in SP; the score was significantly different between groups. The knowledge score of nutritional aspects in human milk was most highly evaluated. But maternity care practice and public acceptance marked the lower evaluation score than other issues. 4) The desirable types of educational material was mass media, and the next was printed matter such as booklets. Two kinds if consumers preferred DVD or VCR tapes than and the service provider group (p < 0.001). 5) The priority contents of nutrition service PC group wanted the information about infant care more than maternal care (p < 0.05), but FC group's priority was significantly different compared with PC group (p < 0.001). The priority of SP group pointed out the information of practical child care methods. The results showed the needs of nutrition service, education channels, and perception toward effective factors on consumer behavior changes were significantly different between each group. Thus the result of this study may suggest that consumer oriented nutrition service programs must be developed.
The study was mainly concerned with providing a basis of the development of consumer's attitude to the advertisements, and the change of sex role portrayals in advertisements. This study was to analyze the consumer's attitude to the advertisements. For the purpose of this study, 550 questionaires were distributed to the married men and women in Seoul. The 418 data were analyzed by Frequency, Percentage, Oneway ANOVA, Duncan's Multiple Range Test, Multiple Regression Analysis and Pearson's correlation. The Major findings of this study were as follows ; 1) Advertisement preferences were significantly related to the age, educational level, income, and family size the cases of men, in the cases of women, the significant variables were age and educational level. 2) Good purchasing attitudes were significantly related to the age and family size in the cases of men. In the cases of women, the significant variable was age. 3) Advertisement preferences were significantly related to the sex role attitude. 4) Good purchasing attitude were significantly related to the advertisement preferences. 5) In good purchasing attitude, the most significant variables were advertisement preferences.
Women's education activity(yejeol)has seen changes and improvements, as Korean society has evolved overtime. Women have been actively addressing contemporary demands by contributing to the establishment of today's women-centered education environment. As a result of this study, the characteristics of yejeol can be summarized as follows: First, yejeol was mainly driven by women wanting to participate in social and volunteer activities, asameans of self-improvement. Second, as field of service, yejeol has become more lucrative ; increasing numbers of young women are participating in the yejeol service industry. Third, yejeol is taking place nationwide. Women are constantly making efforts to acquire expertise by participating in yejeol instructor training programs and obtaining licenses. Fourth, the writing of yejeol books by women scholars has improved the yejeol environment. Further improvements to yejeol in Korea can only be achieved through an in-depth and critical study of its origins, current state, and future direction(s).
This paper examines the intergenerational time transfers between married women and their co-residing elderly parents, and how they affect married women's labor force participation and work hour. The sample was drawn from the "2004 Time Use Survey" conducted by Korea National Statistical Office and the Heckman's 2-step model was estimated to examine these relationships. We find that women's caregiving time for their elderly parents reduces their likelihood of participating in the labor force. On the contrary, parental time transfers for married women increases the probability of their labor force participation. We find no evidence that the actual hours of paid work is related to the time transfers between married women and their elderly parents. In other words, after married women decide to participate in the labor force, their work hours are not affected by the time spent for parents and time gained from parents to them. Parental income is positively associated with the married women's labor force participation whereas husband's income is negatively related. The married women working in service occupation and earn salaries work longer hours than those employed as laborer and wage workers. Having older parents and owning the second home reduce working hours of married women.
This study investigates the effect of consumer culture and awareness of wedding ceremonies between parents and children as well as preference for a simple wedding in order to develop a simple wedding concept. The data for statistical analysis came from 375 of children 216 and parents 159. Data was analyzed with t -test, analysis of variance, exploratory factor analysis, Cronbach's $\alpha$ and regression analysis by SPSS ver. 18.0. The results were summarized as follows. First, children had a higher symbolic consumption than parents and parents had a higher functional consumption than children. Second, children prefer a discriminate and characteristic small wedding, while parents prefer an economical, meaningful and nonconforming simple wedding. The variables that effect parents simple wedding preferences were consumer culture, awareness of wedding ceremony, gender, and education; those of children were, consumer culture, awareness on wedding ceremony, gender, and age. Children had a functional and economical consumption focused on meaningfulness and rationale of the wedding, they prefer an economical meaningful small wedding. Children had functional consumption that prefers a discriminate characteristic small wedding and a nonconforming small wedding compared to men. Parents did not have symbolic consumption and focused on the meaningfulness and rationale of the wedding, they prefer an economical meaningful small wedding. Parents focused on the meaningfulness and rationale of the wedding; in addition women prefer a discriminate characteristic small wedding compared to men. Parents had functional consumption and focused on the meaningfulness and rationale of the wedding with a preference for a nonconforming small wedding.
