Understanding MZ Generation's Perceptions and Preferences for Eco-Friendly Consumption and Upcycled Souvenirs

  • This study aims to explore the perceptions of MZ's on eco-friendly consumption and their preferences for eco-friendly souvenirs. The top reasons for buying upcycling products include design, price, differentiation, and environmentalism, with design having the most influence on product purchase. Design is also a top consideration when buying upcycling souvenirs. Regarding environmental issues, they were most aware of the seriousness of environmental pollution and thought that recycling of fashion products was necessary. When it comes to eco-friendly fashion purchasing behaviors, the most common choice is to buy clothes that will last longer than those that are in fashion. Upcycling products are more likely to be purchased when there is a concern for the environment or an interest in eco-friendly products. In addition, those who have purchased upcycling products are more likely to be aware of and interested in eco-friendly fashion products and recycling of fashion products. Women are more likely than men to be concerned about environmental issues, and women are also more likely to be aware of upcycling souvenirs. In future research, it would be useful to study the relationship between upcycling products, environmental issues, consumer behavior, and upcycling souvenirs.

The Purchasers vs. Non-Purchasers of Performance Infants' Wear: Shopping Behavior, Shopper Characteristics, and Reasons for Purchase/Non-Purchase (기능성 섬유 유아복 구매자와 비구매자간의 구매 행동 및 구매 특성 비교)

  • The heightened consumers' interest in health and well-being gave rise to the needs for performance infants' wear, which are made with environmentally-friendly and healthy functional materials. This study intends to compare purchasers and non-purchasers of performance infants' wear in terms of their shopping behavior, shopper and infants' characteristics, and reasons for purchasing or not purchasing performance infants' wear. A total of 241 questionnaires were collected from women with infants less than 4 years old, who are living in the Seoul metropolitan area. Using SPSS 10.0, chi-square, paired t-test, and descriptive statistics were calculated to analyze the data. The results of the study were as follows: First, the purchasers of performance infants' wear shopped more often at department stores and were more likely to buy comparatively high-price products than non-purchasers. Second, for performance infants' wear, non-purchasers considered laundry/care methods and fiber contents more, while purchasers considered colors, design, price, and performance of the products less than for infants' wear in general. Third, in terms of demographic characteristics, significant differences were found for the number of children and the child's birth order. Fourth, the primary reason for buying performance infants' wear was 'health'. The primary reason for not buying was 'too high price' and 'lack of information'. The 'high price compared to its performance' and 'lack of color choice' were among the purchasers complaints about performance infants' wear.

Purchase Satisfaction of Apparel for Internet Fashion Shopping Mall Users - focused on 20's~30's Men and Women (인터넷 패션 쇼핑몰 이용자의 의류구매 만족도 -20~30대 남녀를 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study was to suggest marketing strategies to internet fashion shopping malls identifying factors that customers consider important. Data were collected by survey questionnaire and the subjects were 322 men and women in their twenties and thirties living in Seoul and Kyung-gi. SPSS 10.0 package were used and reliability, frequency, cross tabulation, chi-square, paired t-test, ANOV A and Duncan test were conducted for data analysis. The results were as follows. I) Subjects placed the most importance on providing the precise and detail information of products but its satisfaction level was low. 2) Subjects considered the ‘low price’ very importantly but its satisfaction level of it was not high. 3) Subject's importance and satisfaction level of ‘point system’ were about an average. 'Point system' has to be activated by using systems such as 'point network system' by pointbanking co. as one of price-cutting strategies. 4) Internet fashion shopping mall users treated 'the security system of personal data' importantly while they were not sufficiently satisfied with the system. 5) Female placed more importance on design and color of products and suppliance of the trendy items.

The Influence of Consumption Value and Attitude about Luxury Goods by Women on Consumption Behavior and Satisfaction (여성의 명품 구매행동과 만족도에 영향을 미치는 요인 -명품 소비가치와 명품 관련 태도를 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this research was to examine the trend of women consumption value and attitude on luxury goods and to analyse the relations between the behavior of purchasing luxury goods and satisfaction of consumers who buy luxury items. A total of 548 questionnaires were obtained in July and August 2011 from female respondents in their 20s to 40s who have bought at least one luxury item in the last 3 years. Collected data was analysed with factor analysis, t-test, ANOVA, Duncan's test, and multiple regression in SPSS. The research results are summarized as follows: First, household income and personal expenditure were main factors in determining substantial differences in attitudes towards luxury goods and counterfeits. Second, the difference in frequency of buying luxury items was decided by household income, and expenditure and purchase cost, which varied based on age, education, occupation, household income, and expenditure. Third, both the younger consumers with more household income and expenditure and consumers with positive attitude towards luxury items but negative attitude towards the counterfeits purchased the luxury goods more frequently than those who are older with less incomes and expenditures. Fourth, consumers with more incomes and expenditures along with negative attitude towards the counterfeits spent more money on the luxury items. Consumers with less personal ostentation but with great pleasure consumption value for luxury goods spent more money on luxury goods. Fifth, the satisfactions of purchasing luxury goods were influenced by following variables such as positive attitudes toward luxury goods, ostentation, enjoyment and quality in consumption value.

A Study of Consumer Perceptions of Food Safety and Food Buying Behavior (식품안전 인지도와 식품안전 관련 구매행동 조사)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate customer perception of food safety and food safety orientation behavior. A survey was conducted from 458 adults aged 20 and over. The results of this study showed as follows. Food safety was the most important consideration when purchasing food, followed by freshness, taste, nutrition, price, and quantity. 87.1% of respondents had more than usual concern about food safety, and women were more aware of food safety than men. The food safety information was usually acquired from the mass media (TV, radio, Internet). As for the reasons for food safety accidents, they pointed out in the order of lack of awareness of food safety, deficient sense of responsibility of the people who produce, lack of distribute and sell food products, and lack of legal system. In conclusion, it is expected that accurate information about food safety is efficiently communicated, and the government's continuous effort is needed. In addition, effective ways to inform customers of food safety should be identified. Long-term views should be considered when develope food safety related policies and food safety education.

Analysis of Consumers' Rational Purchase Behavior by the Purchase Stage and Product (구매 단계별 그리고 제품별 소비자의 합리적 구매선택행동 분석)

  • This research aims to analyze rational decision behavior in different stages of purchasing for consumers buying household appliance goods and deals with differences in socio-demographic features and relevant variables among completely rational, intermediatedly rational, and irrational groups as well as variables differentiating those groups. First, one third of purchasers for Kimchi refrigerators was the rational consumer while a half of purchasers for side-by-side refrigerators and washing machines was. Second, there was no significant differences in satisfactions levels after purchase between rational and irrational groups among purchasers of side-by-side refrigerators but between completely and intermediately rational groups in the case of Kimchi refrigerators. Rational groups of consumers for Tromm washing machines rely on various places for purchase and also show the high level of intention for repurchase. Third, in studies of variables differentiating rationality in purchase behavioral patterns of consumers, rational choices turn out to prevail (1) among purchasers of married, college graduated, employers, and high income in the case of side-by-side refrigerators, (2) among buyers of male, old-aged, college graduated, non-employers, low, income, and hurrying to purchase in the case of Kimchi refrigerators, and (3) among buyers of old-aged, high income, not hurrying to purchase, and visiting numerous stores in the case of Tromm washing machines.

An Exploratory Study on University Student's Service Complaint and Recovery Perception toward Internet Fashion Shopping Mall (대학생들의 인터넷 패션 쇼핑몰에 대한 서비스 불평과 회복 지각에 관한 탐색적 연구)

  • The purposes of this study were to identify factors of dissatisfaction and complaining behavior in internet fashion shopping mall, and to investigate constructs of service recovery for solution to this problems. Data were obtained from 201(male: 87, female: 114) internet fashion shopping mall consumer who have experiences of dissatisfaction and complaining behavior after buying products, and were analyzed using by descriptive analysis, factor analysis, Cronbach' $\alpha$, t-test. The results were as follows. First, the most response(80.4% of reponses) was experience to dissatisfaction through internet fashion shopping mall, and the most dissatisfied items were blouse, sweater, T-shirt in upper garment. Also, in men's case, the most satisfied price zone was not exceeding $30,000{\sim}50,000\;won$ and in women's case, it was not exceeding $20,000{\sim}30,000\;won$. Second, 7 factors of dissatisfaction(called quality, payment, delivery, price, interaction, returning/changing/refunding, contract) were identified after purchasing fashion products from internet shopping mall. 3 factors of complaining behavior(called private action, legal action, remedial seeking action) were investigated. Third, constructs of perceived service recovery were extracted from literature review: perceived interaction and justice. Perceived interaction were categorized into two factors: the interaction on the part of the consumer, the interaction in the part of the shopping mall. And perceived justice were categorized into three factors: interactional justice, distributive justice, procedural justice. Usually, university students were likely to take a serious view of service recovery through interaction and justice with internet fashion shopping mall.

A Study on Cosmetic Purchasing Behavior according to Clothing Shopping Orientation of 20's females (20대 여성의 의복쇼핑성향에 따른 화장품구매행동)

  • The purpose of the study were to find how the trend had an effect on a buying motivation, a selecting standard, a frequency of use, a purchase place of cosmetics, makeup and the distinctive quality of social strata of regarding a clothing shopping orientation. The subjects of investigation were the women in twenties who live in Seoul and Chonnam province. This study had been done from May to July 2001, and 660 questionnaires were used for analysis. The measuring tools used were the items of matters of preceding studies and developed ones by researchers on which questionnaires were prepared. Factor and cluster analysis and Duncan's multiple range test, ANOVA, x$^2$-test, frequency, and percentage as analysis methods were used through SPSS. The results of the study were as follows. The clothing shopping orientation divided five shopping orientations such as ostentatious style, enjoyable style, economical style, and prudent style, and an attachment style for special brands and shops. On the basis of this result, the groups 20's females were classified into low groups by the cluster analysis; economical shopping group, indifferent shopping group, conspicuous shopping group, and recreational shopping group. In the case of cosmetics purchasing motives, evaluation criteria of cosmetics, stores selection criteria were found according to shopping orientation subdivision, and there was the significant difference between the groups in frequency of use, a purchase place of cosmetics.

Characteristics study of women's skinny jeans patterns by brand (여성용 스키니 진의 브랜드별 패턴 특성 연구)

  • In the 2010s, skinny jeans were trendy, and they became a must-have for young women. The styles, clothing pressure and buying behavior of skinny jeans have been studied, but the patternmaking of skinny jeans has not been researched yet. To analyze skinny jeans patterns, we grouped skinny jeans into nine brands. They were sorted into three groups: special jeans brand, trendy jeans brand, and SPA brand. This study compared skinny jeans' sizing systems, product dimensions and pattern measurements in three brand groups. The appearance and fit of skinny jeans were evaluated by random groups of people in their 20s and 30s. The sizing systems for skinny jeans were different with KS K0051, and they were shown waist girth in inches. The waist and hip circumferences were different among brand groups. In product dimensions, trendy jeans brands had a shorter crotch length, a lower crotch depth, a narrower back crotch width, and a longer inseam than the others. The measurements of skinny jeans flat patterns were significantly different in as below; front crotch depth, front crotch height, front crotch length, back crotch extension, gap between back and front crotch depth, back crotch height, back crotch length, and center back angle. In the sensory survey results, trendy jeans brands were evaluated well in the fit of the waist line, hip line, crotch line, midthigh line, outseam, inseam, side waist line, crotch length and overall fit.

Regional Characteristics of Commodity Sales by Internet Shopping : A Case Study of G eshop (인터넷 쇼핑에 의한 상품판매의 지역적 특성 - G eshop의 경우 -)

  • The regional distribution of the selling amount on the internet shopping is divided into urban areas and rural areas. In the urban areas, a large amount of selling and various commodity groups are purchased. In the rural areas, a small amount of selling simple clothing goods, home kitchen goods, and the others commodity groups are purchased. The regional distribution is considered dependent upon the size of population, the development degree of the education and service industry in the region, and the buying power of women in the 25 to 49 year group. This regional trend shows the difference of each population composition between urban and rural areas during the period of economic growth in our country affects internet shopping. Therefore consumer's limited purchase behavior is apparent in rural areas.
