The purpose of this study was to investigate the apparel purchasing behavior of adult women consumer groups divided by materialism. The specific objects of this study were ; 1) to examine the degree of materialism, impulsive buying, and conspicuous consumption. 2) to examine the correlation between impulsive buying, materialism, and conspicuous consumption, and to examine the relative influences of impulsive buying, materialism affecting conspicuous consumption. 3) to classify groups according to the level of the propensity for materialism, and to examine the clothing purchasing behavior of the divided groups. Data were administered to 357 adult women living in Sunchol from June to July 1999. For analysis of the data, factor analysis, one-way ANOVE, duncan's multiple range test, frequency and χ²-test were employed. The results of this study were summarized as follows. 1. Materialism and impulsive buying have shown higher than middle score, and conspicuous consumption has shown similar to middle score. 2. The correlation between materialism, impulsive buying, and conspicuous consumption has shown similar to middle score. The higher the materialism and experience of impulsive buying was, the higher was the conspicuous consumption. According to the results of regression analysis examining the relative influence of variables affecting conspicuous consumption. According to the results of regression analysis examining the relative influence of variables affecting conspicuous consumption, the relative importance of the variables were in the order of ; success-symbolic materialism, life-centered materialism, happiness-pursuing materialism, in the order of ; success-symbolic materialism, life-centered materialism, happiness-pursuing materialism, impulsive buying and their explanatory power totalled 35.2%. 3. Evaluating attributes of product, the type of purchasing store, the place of purchasing, the need of high class department store, purchasing price range, and accompanying people when purchasing were the factors influencing the apparel purchasing behavior.
The purposes of this study were to define housewife's risk perception and risk reduction behavior when purchasing children's wear, and to identify the differences according to the clothing buying behavior and demographic characteristics. Data were gathered through survey with 429 housewives in Seoul and metropolitan area, and then statistically analyzed by descriptive statistics, factor analysis, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), Duncan's test, and Pearson's correlation analysis. The results showed partially significant differences in risk perception, especially economic risk and social psychological risks, among housewife consumer groups according to the clothing buying behavior and the demographic characteristics. There were significant differences in risk reduction behaviors among the groups, especially brand preference/industry information, observation/experience, and media information. Also, correlations between risk perception and risk reduction behaviors were found. The social psychological risk perception was highly correlated to the risk reduction behaviors, while the time/convenience loss risk was not correlated to any risk reduction behavior. The results of this study provide insight into children's wear business through suggesting marketing implication.
The purpose of this study is to find out the various impulse buying factors which influence the emotion of regret in the internet purchase of fashion products and to measure the differences of regret solution efforts according to impulse buying consumer types. This study surveyed females in their 20s~40s for empirical analysis in August 2012, and it targeted women who have experienced impulse buying of fashion products in the internet mall. 297 subjects were collected for the data, and they were subjects who were selected through online convenience sampling. For statistical analysis, descriptive statistics, factor analysis, regression analysis, cluster analysis, and ANOVA were carried out using SPSS for Windows 12.0. The results of this study are as follows. First, it was identified that impulse buying by refreshing, accidental, promotion, recommendation stimulus have significant influence on the regret of consumer after impulse buying. Second, there are significant differences in the factors of impulse buying which influence the regret according to the impulse buying products and the shopping malls. Third, there are significant differences in regret relieving behavior according to the impulse buying consumer types. This study will help internet shopping malls to find out the action plans to handle consumers' regret from impulse buying.
The objectives of this study were to classify the consumer group based on the lifestyle traits of cortege women, to examine the demographic characteristics of each group, and to find out the differences of buying and using behavior of cosmetics among each group. The survey was conducted and 392 samples were analyzed by SPSS package program. The results of this study were as follows; 1. The lifestyle types were clasified 4 groups. They were named 'Progressive fashion pursuing type' 'Reality adaptable living-satisfaction type','Traditional frugal faithful type','Passive living-unconcern type'. 2. The demographic characteristics of each lifestyle group showed meaningful differences according to the following variables ; major, average monthly pocket money, religion, living standard, educational level and occupation of the head of a family. 3. The buying behavior of cosmetics(the degree of product involvement, information search behavior, product choice criteria, store choice criteria) showed meaningful differences among each lifestyle group. 4. The using behavior of cosmetics( the motive of make-up, the extent of make-up, average monthly cosmetics expenditure) showed meaningful differences among each lifestyle group.
The purpose of this study was to identify egonomy tendency on their self-makeup and appearance management behavior of university women in Jeonbuk province. A self-administered questionnaire was used for data collection. Frequency analyses, reliability analyses, cross-tabulations and multiple regression analyses were used. Factors of university women's egonomy tendency were individuality, value, luxury good, style, design, appearance, and economic feasibility. University women were classified into the egonomy retarde group(G1), the value pursuing group(G2), the economic feasibility pursuing group(G3), and the highly egonomy pursuing group(G4). G1 were indifferent to their makeup methods and appearance management, had the least experience in buying recommended cosmetics or idea cosmetics. G2 invested time and efforts in makeup and managed their appearance with cosmetics or folk remedies, had less experience in buying artist brand cosmetics. G3 performed makeup frequently, were not much interested in appearances while showing the most frequent appearance management behaviors using cosmetics of folk remedies, and spent small amount of money to buy cosmetics. G4 showed high frequencies of all factors of self-makeup and appearance management behaviors, had the most experience in buying artist brand cosmetics and spent much amounts of money to buy cosmetics. Self-makeup behavior was affected by their tendencies to pursue individuality, values, appearance and appearance management behavior was affected by their tendencies to pursue luxury goods, appearance, and economic feasibility.
This study investigated differences in cosmetic buying behavior and personal characteristics between cosmetic involvement groups. Cosmetics buying behavior refers to reason for using cosmetics, use of information sources, selection criteria, place of purchase, use/non-use of cosmetics, purchase propensity, purchase frequency, purchase amount, and satisfaction with cosmetics. Personal characteristic contains pursuing image, age, residence area, job, and average household monthly income. Data was collected from 5-10 December 2016, from 308 females in their 20s using an internet survey. The analysis included descriptive statistics, t-tests, Mann-Whitney U tests, and chi-square tests. The respondents were divided into two groups (a high cosmetic involvement group and a low cosmetic involvement group) according to the degree of cosmetic involvement. The results of t-tests revealed significant differences between groups in terms of reasons for using cosmetics, use of information sources, selection criteria, purchase frequency, place of purchase, use/non-use of cosmetics, and satisfaction with cosmetics. The results of Mann-Whitney U tests highlighted a significant difference in purchase frequency between both groups. The results of chi-square tests indicated significant differences in purchase frequency, purchase amount, pursuing image, and average household monthly income. However, no significant differences were evident in terms of purchase propensity, age, job, and area of residence between groups.

The primary objective of this research is to develop a better understanding of consumer's post-purchase psychological state by examining the influence of sales promotion and emotional brand attachment on post-purchase cognitive dissonance, taking into account the mediating role of impulse buying behavior. The current study addresses several gaps in literature. Firstly, it is hard to find the direct impact of sales promotion and emotional brand attachment on post-purchase cognitive dissonance. Secondly, to the best of our knowledge, few studies have investigated the mediating role of impulse buying behavior in consumer research. A sample of 256 respondents was collected from Pakistani retail consumers. The statistical findings of this study show that sales promotion has a significant positive effect on the impulse buying behavior and post-purchase cognitive dissonance. Furthermore, results indicate that emotional brand attachment has a negative influence on impulse buying behavior but has a significant positive impact on post-purchase cognitive dissonance. Meanwhile, impulse buying behavior is a potential mediator between sales promotion, emotional brand attachment, and post-purchase cognitive dissonance relationships. The moderating role of Gender describes that the positive relationship between sales promotion and post-purchase cognitive dissonance will be stronger for women as compared to men at a higher level of sales promotion.
The purpose of this study was to investigate factors to influence on buying behavior of Chinese male consumers in regards to apparel types. Furthermore, this study provided fundamental data for marketing strategy in export apparel business to China from domestic apparel business. Returned 863 questionnaires from Chinese male consumers analyzed by factor analysis, and multidimensional scaling with SPSS10.0. The result of this study were as follows: Chinese male consumers bought formal wear with evaluating two groups of factors; one for functional (fitness, A/S, durability, and management), the other for external (brand, and trend). They bought casual wear with evaluating three groups of factors; functional/useful (price, A/S, and durability), aesthetic (color, and design), and external (brand and trend). Also they bought sports wear with evaluating three groups of factors; functional/useful(price, A/S, durability, and fabric), aesthetic(design and color), and external(brand and coordination).

The purpose of the study was to explore differences in perceived importance among factors of motives for participating in outdoor sports, product selection criteria of outdoor sportswear and store selection criteria, and in buying frequencies among store types and store locations. Another purpose was to find differences in importance of product selection criteria of outdoor sportswear and store selection criteria and in buying frequencies according to store types and store locations among groups according to motives for participation in outdoor sports. The questionnaire was developed by the researcher and was collected by 221 women aged between 40 and 59. The questionnaire was composed of four parts including participation motives, store selection criteria, and product selection criteria measured by Likert type scale, and demographic characteristics measured by nominal scale. Data were analyzed by frequency test, factor analysis, repeated measure ANOVA, Bonferroni adjusted t-test, cluster analysis by Ward method, ANOVA and Tukey's test as a post-hoc test. The results of the study showed that middle-aged women rated health improvement motive as the most important factor for participating in outdoor sports. Among product selection criteria, comfort was the most important, and among store selection, personal selling was the most important. Among store types, buying frequency in off-price store was the highest and among store locations, buying frequency in stores in a residential area was the highest. Moreover, three groups were classified according to motives for participation in outdoor sports: the health improvement motive group, the conspicuous/sociable motive group, the lower motive group The health improvement motive group rated comfort as the most important factor for product selection criteria, and showed the highest buying frequency in downtown stores. Conspicuous/sociable motive groups valued design and utilization for an everyday wear and shopped more frequently in specialty store and/or in downtown stores.

The purposes of this study were to identify shoplifting items and assess consumers' attitudes toward shoplifting, and to determine the variables to effect shoplifting. Three hundred ninety-eight respondents of high school students were used for data analysis. Descriptive statistics, t-test, and multiple regression analysis were used. Results indicated 17.8% of the respondents experienced fashion item shoplifting in the last 3 years. Shoplifting fashion items were categorized accessory, apparel, and cosmetic, and so on. Generally fashion item shoplifters demonstrated generous attitudes toward shoplifting than non-shoplifters. There were statistically significant differences between shoplifters and non-shoplifters in that shoplifters showed more hedonic shopping orientation and higher compulsive buying than non-shoplifters did. Also, fashion item shoplifters were more likely to have high depression and binge eating behavior. Shoplifting attitudes were correlated with lower self-esteem and higher depression, hedonic shopping orientation, compulsive buying, and binge eating. Results of multiple regression revealed that hedonic shopping orientation and compulsive buying was significantly related to shoplifting attitudes. Based on these results, fashion marketing strategies to protect shoplifting would be suggested.
