Testbed Development for Home Automation System using Bluetooth Wireless Network

  • Recently the idea of a home automation has been an important issue in many publications and home appliances companies. Home automation is a house or living environment that contains the technology to allow devices and systems to be controlled automatically. Remote and local control are useful to keep home comfortable and to support the elderly and the disabled people. In this paper, we discuss possible developments of Bluetooth wireless technologies and describe the hardware for devices and software for the considerations of a home automation system. Finally, we have validated the testbed by simulating in the Bluetooth home network.

  • It need remote storage system using iSCSI to overcome a limit of PDA storage device used in currently wireless network environment, and IPSec to solve a security problem of wireless environment increasing continually. In this paper, it design and implement iSCSI to use a remote storage system on PDA, and IPSec for security. The experimental results in real environment show a system performance.

  • This paper presents the operation technology and the remote monitoring system of distribution pole transformer. Especially, this system uses CDMA wireless data communication network as media which is serviced on a national scale. It has four major components such as sensor for measuring the secondary voltage and currents of distribution transformer, CDMA wireless modem for data modulating/demodulating, communication media for sending/receiving of data, and PC server for monitoring the results of sensing or computing information. This paper also describes the configuration of each component's functions with its development process.

  • The majority of sensors currently being used for measuring current need to contact with conductor carrying current. Therefore it is not easy to measure and insulate. In order to figure the solution out, the remote power measurement system is introduced in this paper. The system developed here enables us to measure the current of the commercial power without contact by using Rogowski Coil and wireless communication method. Measured current is processed for the wireless transmission, then is transferred to the computer through wireless receiver. The data arrived at the computer is displayed on the screen as waveform.

  • Wireless Sensor Network(WSNs) consists of small sensor nodes with sensing, computation, and wireless communication capabilities. It has new information collection scheme and monitoring solution for a variety of applications. Faults occurring to sensor nodes are common due to the limited resources and the harsh environment where the sensor nodes are deployed. In order to ensure the network quality of service it is necessary for the WSN to be able to detect the faulty sensors and take necessary actions for the reconstruction of the lost sensor data caused by fault as earlier as possible. In this paper, we propose an recursive PCA-based fault detection and lost data reconstruction algorithm for sensor networks. Also, the performance of proposed scheme was verified with simulation studies.

  • The owner of water pipeline has a burden of responsibility for the protection of corrosion and the prevention against leakage of water. So, they have been installed a CP(Cathodic Protection) System in oder to protect corrosion. And they also have been measured and analyzed the data about P/S(Pipe to Soil) potential of water pipeline. The P/S potential is basic data of evaluation for water pipeline corrosion. In this paper, results of development about remote wireless corrosion monitoring system for water pipe line are presented briefly.

  • This study was performed to avoid the chemical spraying environment condition during spraying operation for operator's safety through the development of a remote controlled speed sprayer. The summerized results of this study are as followings. 1. The developed VHF electric wave remote controlling system which could operate sixteen type of operation conditions with the circuit channels of 234 was highly adaptable to speed sprayer for the remote control. 2. The commerical wireless telephones adapted the DTMF type electric wave remote control system need not the tranceiver. 3. The wireless electric wave remote control system combined with one-chip microcomputer, which are low cost with compact in size, could be adaptable to the remote control of the speed sprayer for the wheel steering and speed control system, and to the remote control chemical application system.

  • Existing web based information service system solutions show limitations in mobile information services, as well as problems such as uncertain error messages, and difficulty providing swift assistance or real time emergency support. In order to solve these deficiencies, a realtime wireless remote control system has been designed and implemented in this thesis, which is capable of managing and monitoring remote systems using mobile communication devices (Mobile Phone, PDA, Smart Phone) for realtime control. Proposed systems are applied at remote places, for instance 'office building', and a nursery school like 'kindergarten'. In the case of implemented at office building, it can be managing and controlling at real time all sorts of the sensor information that are installed at office building system environment through wire(web environment) or wireless(mobile device). In the other case at kindergarten system that are providing the real-time wireless remote control and monitoring system can be monitoring activity of kindergarten children with a mobile phone of authentication user. The security functions of proposed systems include mobile device user authentication and target system access control. The proposed systems allow real-time user authentication function and system access control function that improve the security of resource administrators and mobile device users, and provides not only uninterrupted services, but also real time mobile service environments.
