Cellular Network Bandwidth Management Scheme based on Nash Bargaining Solution (멀티미디어 셀룰러 네트워크상에서 내쉬 협상해법을 이용한 대역폭 관리기법)

  • Bandwidth is an extremely valuable and scarce resource in a wireless network. Therefore, efficient bandwidth management is necessary in order to provide high quality service to users with different requirements. In this paper, we propose a bandwidth reservation algorithm based on Nash Bargaining Solution. The proposed algorithm has low complexity and are quite flexible in the different situations of network. Simulation results indicate that the proposed scheme has excellent performance than other existing schemes.

  • The use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) is the key to operate a change from the traditional manual reading of water meters and sensors to an automated system where high frequency data is remotely collected and analyzed in real time, one of the main components of a Smart Water Grid. The recent boom of ICT offers a wide range of both wired and wireless technologies to achieve this objective. We review and present in this article the most widely recognized technologies and protocols along with their respective advantages, drawbacks and applicability range which can be Home Area Network (HAN), Building Area Network (BAN) or Local/Neighborhood Area Network (LAN/NAN). We also present our findings and we give recommendations on the application of ICT in Smart Water Grids and future work needed.

  • Wireless community networks (WCNs) are considered another form of ownership of internet protocol (IP) networks, where community members manage and own every piece of equipment in a decentralized way, and routing for traffic is done in a cooperative manner. However, the current routing protocols for WCNs suffer from stability and scalability issues. In this paper, an enhanced routing protocol is proposed based on the optimized link state routing (OLSR) protocol to meet the standards of efficiency in terms of stability and scalability. The proposed routing protocol is enhanced through two phases: multicasting expansion and multipoint relay (MPR) selection based on an analytical hierarchical process (AHP). The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed routing protocol outperforms the OLSR protocol in terms of network control overhead and packet delivery ratio by 18% and 1% respectively.

  • Underwater Wireless Acoustic Sensor Networks have become an important area of research over the recent decades. Designing an underwater network, especially a media access control (MAC) protocol, faces many challenges due to the peculiarities of underwater environment. One of the most important problems is resulted from long and variable propagation delay of the acoustic wave. In this paper, we propose a new method, namely Dynamic Timeout over Multiple Access with Collision Avoidance (DT/MACA), which is designed to handle long and high variable propagation delay in underwater acoustic sensor networks. In this proposed method, the difference timeout intervals are evaluated and applied to each network transmission. Simulation results show that our work not only improves the network throughput, but also decreases the unnecessary retransmission and end-to-end delay.

A Common Platform for An Internal-Based Mobile Robot and Its Operator Terminal (인터넷 기반의 이동 로봇과 조종 단말기를 위한 공용 플랫폼 개발)

  • This paper proposes a common platform for an internet-based mobile robot and its operator terminal. The common platform can reduce the cost and time to develop an internet-based robot and its operator terminal. The robot performs the role of a server and its terminal a client. One operator can use this terminal to make a command and this command can be sent to the robot through a wireless network. According to given commands, the robot moves a point and sends an image by using a camera or desired information by using other sensors. The information sent from the robot can help an operator to control the robot. The mobile robot consists of two modules, main module and motion module. Main module can exchange information with the operator terminal, process information, and send a command to motion module. Each application program for one internet-based mobile robot and its operator terminal will be developed to show that the same platform can be used for them. Also, it will be shown that the robot can be controlled easily by using its operator terminal.

Energy Efficiency Enhancement of TICK -based Fuzzy Logic for Selecting Forwarding Nodes in WSNs

  • Communication cost is the most important factor in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), as exchanging control keying messages consumes a large amount of energy from the constituent sensor nodes. Time-based Dynamic Keying and En-Route Filtering (TICK) can reduce the communication costs by utilizing local time values of the en-route nodes to generate one-time dynamic keys that are used to encrypt reports in a manner that further avoids the regular keying or re-keying of messages. Although TICK is more energy efficient, it employs no re-encryption operation strategy that cannot determine whether a healthy report might be considered as malicious if the clock drift between the source node and the forwarding node is too large. Secure SOurce-BAsed Loose Synchronization (SOBAS) employs a selective encryption en-route in which fixed nodes are selected to re-encrypt the data. Therefore, the selection of encryption nodes is non-adaptive, and the dynamic network conditions (i.e., The residual energy of en-route nodes, hop count, and false positive rate) are also not focused in SOBAS. We propose an energy efficient selection of re-encryption nodes based on fuzzy logic. Simulation results indicate that the proposed method achieves better energy conservation at the en-route nodes along the path when compared to TICK and SOBAS.

  • Wireless Sensor Network collects a data from the specific area and the control is composed of small sensor nodes. Like this sensors to after that is established at the beginning are operated with the battery, the operational duration until several years must be continued from several months and will be able to apply the resources which is restricted in efficiently there must be. In this paper RHC (rounting history cache) applies in Directed Diffusion which apply a data central concept a reliability and an efficiency in data transfer course set. RHC algorithms which proposes each sensor node updated RHC of oneself with periodic and because storing the optimization course the course and, every event occurrence hour they reset the energy is wasted the fact that a reliability with minimization of duplication message improved.

An Energy Efficient Multi-hop Cluster-Head Election Strategy for Wireless Sensor Networks

  • According to the double-phase cluster-head election method (DCE), the final cluster heads (CHs) sometimes are located at the edge of cluster. They have a long distance from the base station (BS). Sensor data is directly transmitted to BS by CHs. This makes some nodes consume much energy for transmitting data and die earlier. To address this problem, energy efficient multi-hop cluster-head election strategy (EEMCE) is proposed in this paper. To avoid taking these nodes far from BS as CH, this strategy first introduces the distance from the sensor nodes to the BS into the tentative CH election. Subsequently, in the same cluster, the energy of tentative CH is compared with those of other nodes, and then the node that has more energy than the tentative CH and being nearest the tentative CH are taken as the final CH. Lastly, if the CH is located at the periphery of the network, the multi-hop method will be employed to reduce the energy that is consumed by CHs. The simulation results suggest that the proposed method exhibits higher energy efficiency, longer stability period and better scalability than other protocols.

  • In the paper, embedded system that manage, control the status of vehicle through internet and mobile instruments are designed. The network is composed of the distributed control system using CAN communication, where communication is possible with two lines, and the bluetooth, where wireless communication is possible. We also designed the Embedded system to make up the web server only for the vehicle, made it possible to catch hold of the conditions of the vehicle and control the vehicle through internet by interfacing the destributed controller. We also made such a Web Server possible th be monitored and controlled by the mobile instruments such as PDA, mobile phones.

  • Bluetooth technology is essentially a method for wireless connectivity of a diverse set of devices ranging from PDAs, mobile phone, notebook computers, to another equipments, The bluetooth system both point-to point connection and point-to multipoint connection. In point-to multipoint connection, the channel is shared among several bluetooth devices. Two or more devices sharing the same channel form a piconet. There one master device and up to seven active slave devices in a piconet. The radio operates in the unlicensed 2.45GHz ISM band. This allows users who travel world-wide to use bluetooth equipments anywhere. Since the link is based on frequency-hop spread spectrum, multiple channels can exist at the same time. The bluetooth standard ha s been suggested that bluetooth equipments can be used in the short-range, maximum 100 meters. It has been defined that the time takes to setup and establish a bluetooth connection among devices is 10 seconds. It is a long time and may be a cause to lose a chance of finding other non-fixed devices. We propose a routing protocols for scatternets which can be used to control a mobile units(MUs) in this network. The proposed routing protocol is composed of two kinds of bluetooth information, access point(AP) and MU.
