  • The purpose of this study is to estimate the Willingness To Payment (WTP) of sea-anglers regarding the increase in the abundance of fish resources resulting from the Korean vessel buy-back program using the contingent valuation method. Data was collected through sample surveys of 352 sea-anglers across the nation in 2015. If a 20% increase in the abundance of fish resources resulted from the vessel buy-back program, WTP estimates of sea-anglers per recreational fishing trip were 9,570 won on truncated mean, 16,528 won on mean, and 35,830 won on median, respectively. Additionally, when the number of annual total recreational fishing trips in Korea were estimated as 22,700 thousand trips, the annual increase in national welfare through recreational fishing was estimated to be 217.2 billion won on the truncated mean, 375.2 billion won on the mean, and 813.3 billion won on the median, respectively.

The integrated news platform has been widely employed and regarded as an alternative to recover dramatically decreasing sales of newspapers since N-Screen era began. This study employed a conjoint analysis to examine WTP for the integrated news platform and its attributes. According to the results, WPT for the integrated news platform was estimated as 4543.6 won, which is only 30.3% of the real price. Digitalized newspaper and premium news were found to be significant attributes explaining customers' WTP. • The contingent valuation method (CVM) was used along with a questionnaire survey and field research methods to analyze the factors affecting willingness to pay (WTP) for urban parks in Tai'an. The results indicated that roughly 50% of the residents visited the urban parks weekly. Doing physical exercises and viewing topped the list of activities. Residents of different characteristics had different WTPs for the service functions of urban parks. From the two surveys, 60.1% and 61.4% of residents would be willing to pay. The average individual WTPs were 42.2 $yuan{\cdot}a^{-1}$ and 43.1 $yuan{\cdot}a^{-1}$ in the two surveys, and the medianin dividual WTP was 20.0 $yuan{\cdot}a^{-1}$. WTP was mainly affected by satisfaction, and WTP value was mainly affected by education level and income. Other factors had some correlation, but none were significant. Finally, some useful suggestions and references were given to the government in order to enhance the urban park services proposal.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze willingness to pay (WTP) for organic agricultural products. To accomplish the objective of the study, a consumer survey was conducted. Based on the pilot survey results, parametric survival model was used to analyze the WTP for organic products. The estimation results showed that the WTP for organic agricultural products is 1.4-fold when compared with the conventional products, which is lower than the current price by about 30 percent. The analytical results also showed that such variables as gender, recognitions for organic agricultural products, and consumers' income have very significant effects on the WTP, and that there are no differences among WTPs by consumption goals. Based on major findings, the most effective countermeasure was suggested for expanding of organic food consumption through the premium reduction of organic products. Reducing the costs of production and distribution, supporting farmers' income by direct payment system were presented. Furthermore, it is needed to allocate more budget for promoting the consumption and distribution of organic agricultural products, and for enhancing conservation of agricultural environment.

  • The paper is to estimate willingness-to-pay (WTP) for tap water quality improvement in Busan, using parametric approach in contingent valuation method(CVM). For parametric approach linear logit model and log logit model are employed in double-bounded dichotomous choice format of CVM. For the reliability and the validity of contingent valuation method a survey was conducted for 665 respondents, who were sampled by stratified random sampling method, by personal interview method. The result of mean WTP for the tap water quality improvement in Busan was estimated to be 3,687 won and 3,660 won per month per household, while median WTP being 1,884 won and 1,892 won per month per household, respectively by linear logit model and log logit model. Provided that our sample is broadly representative of the Busan's population, an estimate of the annual aggregated benefit of residential water improvement for all Busan households is approximately 29.7 billion won to 29.8 billion won based on median WTP.

  • The study was conducted to examine consumers' awareness and perceptions on forest certification and their willingness to buy and pay price premium for certified wood products especially for selected four wood products. A total of 136 residents in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province were interviewed in the autumn of 2008. Although only 24.3 percent of the consumers are aware of forest certification, 82.4 percent of the respondents recognized the need and significance of forest certification. In general, 77.2 percent of the respondents were willing to buy certified wood products. Majority of the respondents, 84 out of 136 respondents (61.8%) expressed their willingness to pay (WTP) from more than 0 percent to less than 10 percent. Consumers' average WTP for certified wood products was estimated to be 5.6 percent. From the results of the study, lower priced wood products, such as copier paper (WTP=9.8%) and wood frame (WTP=11.6%), have higher price premiums than high priced products, such as wood table (WTP=6.8%) and wood flooring (WTP=7.6%). In conclusion, there could be feasible markets for certified wood products in South Korea as four out of five consumer are willing to pay more for such products. For the forest certification system to be adopted and widely accepted, the perceptions of forest stakeholders including consumers should be further increased.
