  • A various algorism has been studied to extract possibly every energy from a wind turbine in conjunction with the increase of concern about wind power system. In order to verify these control algorism, it is essential to make the most similar conditions to the real wind turbine's environment. Therefore, using separately excited DC motor a wind turbine the most similar to the real turbine is simulated. Tower shadow effect and Wind shear effect are considered as well as inertia emulation. For the control of Back-to-Back Converter Vector current control methods and space vector pulse width modulation are used and for reducing THD of grid current LCL filter is considered. This simulation results verified the energy produced by wind all flows into the utility under the consideration of the characteristics of a wind turbine. The result of this paper is expected to be used as a basic material for analyzing the characteristics of the wind turbine generator.

  • A new parameter adaptation scheme for RBF Neural Network (NN) has been developed in this paper. Even though the RBF Neural Network (NN) based controllers are robust against both un-modeled dynamics and external disturbances, the performance is not satisfactory for a fast and precise mobile robot. To improve the tracking performance as well as robustness, all the parameters of RBF NN are updated in real time. The stability of this control law is rigorously proved by following the Lyapunov stability theory and shown by the experimental simulations. The fact that all of the weighting factors, width and center of RBF NN have been updated implies that this scheme utilizes all the possibilities in RBF NN to make the controller robust and precise while the mobile robot is following un-known trajectories. The performance of this new algorithm has been compared to the conventional RBF NN controller where some of the parameters are adjusted for robustness.

  • Traffic signal cycle optimization is one of the most efficient ways for reducing fuel consumption and improving vehicle waiting time of highsaturated traffic conditions. But most research focused on lowsaturated traffic conditions. Only a few studies have researched traffic control for highsaturated traffic conditions. In this paper reviews the problem of conventional traffic signal system and creates optimal traffic cycle of at the bottom traffic intersection using 27 fuzzy rules. Moreover, to prevent spillback, it can adapt control even though upper traffic intersection has a different saturation rate, road length, road slope and road width.

  • Based on the idea that nonlinear PWM controller design can be directly applied to the attitude tracking problem of thruster-controlled spacecraft because it constitutes a sub-class of nonlinear PWM controlled system, nonlinear and output error feedback PWM controlled system is considered to describe the behavior of thruster-controlled spacecraft, and to determine actual thruster on-time which guarantees system stability. A differential geometric approach is utilized to show an asymptotical stability of average PWM system, which finally guarantees the stability of closed loop PWM controlled system. Simulation results show that the motions of PWM controlled system occurs very closely around those of the average model of PWM controlled system.

  • This paper presents a five-level PWM inverter using series and parallel connection of voltage sources. The alternative connection is done by an auxiliary circuit consisted of a switch, three diodes, and two batteries. The auxiliary circuit is located between input dc voltage source and H-bridge cell. Thanks to the auxiliary circuit, the proposed inverter synthesizes five-level output voltage in an effective way. Topologically both batteries are charged and discharged in the same rate, so it does not need to apply battery voltage balancing control method. Theoretical analysis of the proposed inverter is verified by computer-aided simulation and experiment based on a prototype of 1kW.

  • Current controlled pulse width modulation(PWM) for voltage source inverter(VSI) is one of the control method which controls the current directly so that we can perform vector control because it reduces the orders of differential equations of the induction machine. This paper propose a Fuzzy current controlled PWM which properly minimize a current ripple using Fuzzy theory in a constant switching frequency. This technique is applied to an electrical drive system with an induction machine(IM) by simulation. By comparison with the known classical method such as ramp comparison, hysteresis band method, our contribution shows the better performances.

  • This paper present the design of a novel neural-network (NN) based pulse-width modulation (PWM) techniques for a three-level power converter of electric trains along with nonlinear mapping of essential switching patterns and fault tolerance, which are inherent characteristics of NNs. Considering the importance of safety, power factor and harmonics of electric train power converters, two-level type and three-level type of power converters using NNs are precisely investigated and compared in computer simulation. A computer simulation shows that a new current control scheme provides an improved performance over a fixed-band hysteresis current control in many aspects.

  • This paper proposes a soft-switching current -source inverter for photovoltaic power system, which has an H-type switched-capacitor module composed of two semiconductor switches, two diodes, and an L-C resonant circuit. The operation of proposed system was analyzed by a theoretical approach with equivalent circuits and verified by computer simulations with SPICE and experimental works with a hardware prototype. The proposed system could be effectively applied for the power converter of photovoltaic power system interconnected with the power system.

  • This paper proposes an SSSC based on multi-bridge inverters in PWM scheme. The proposed system consists of 6 H-bridge inverter modules per phase. The dynamic characteristic of proposed system was analyzed by simulation with EMTP codes, assuming that the SSSC is inserted in the 154-kV transmission line of one-machine-infinite-bus power system. The feasibility of hardware implementation was verified through experimental works with a scaled-model. The proposed system can be directly inserted in the transmission line without coupling transformers, and has flexibility in expanding the operation voltage by increasing the number of H-bridges.

  • This paper concerns a design technique of pulse-width-modulated (PWM) controller via the digital redesign. The digital redesign is a converting technique a well-designed analog controller into the equivalent digital one maintaining the property of the original analog control system in the sense of state-matching. The redesigned digital controller is again converted into PWM controller using the equivalent area principle. An example-the altitude control or artificial satellites is included to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
