  • New wet chemical method so called precipitation-evaporation method was suggested for preparing spinel structure lithium manganese oxide ($LiMn_2$$O_4$) for Li ion secondary battery. Using precipitation-evaporation method, $LiMn_2$$O_4$ cathode materials suitable for Li ion secondary batteries can be synthesized. Single spinel phase $LiMn_2$$O_4$ powder was synthesized at lower temperature compared to that of prepared by solid-state method. $LiMn_2$$O_4$ powder prepared by precipitation-evaporation method showed uniform, small size and well defined crystallinity particles. Li ion secondary battery using $LiMn_2$$O_4$ as cathode materials prepared by precipitation-evaporation method and calcined at $800^{\circ}C$ showed discharge capacity of 106.03mAh/g and discharge capacity of 95.60mAh/g at 10th cycle. Although Li ion secondary battery showed somewhat smaller initial capacity but good cyclic ability. It is suggested that electro-chemical properties can be improved by controlling particle characteristics by particle morphology modification during calcination and optimizing Li ion secondary battery assembly conditions.

습성강하물 중의 오염물질의 농도와 부하 - 충북 청주시를 중심으로- (The Concentrations and Loads of Pollutant in Wet Deposition in Cheongju)

  • 충북 청주시에 위치한 충북대학교에서 강수에 따른 습성강하물 중의 TN, TP 및 COD의 농도와 오염부하를 조사하였다 강수사상에 대한 샘플은 1998년에서 2003년까지 채집되었다. 오염물질의 강수량가중평균 농도는 TN이 0.60mg/L, TP가 0.014mg/L, COD는 4.8mg/L이었는데, 이는 각각의 산술평균보다 26, 18, 14% 작게 나타났다. TN, TP 및 COD의 농도는 강수량이 증가함에 따라 감소하는 경향을 나타냈다. 모든 수질항목은 됨에 가장 많이 나타났는데, 이는 풍식 및 황사에 의한 먼지, 꽃가루 등 때문으로 생각된다. 습성강하물의 평균 연간부하는 TN 7.9kg/ha$\cdot$yr, TP 0.19kg/ha$\cdot$yr, COD 53.9ka/ha$\cdot$yr로 나타났는데, 이를 일본에서 보고된 각각의 연간부하와 비교하면 TN과 TP는 비슷했으나, COD는 약간 놀게 나타났다.

Calcium Phosphate Bone Cement Based on Wet Prepared Dicalcium Phosphate

  • Calcium phosphates (CaP) were prepared by a wet chemical method. Micro-crystalline dicalcium phosphate (DCPD) was precipitated at $37^{\circ}C$ and pH 5.0 using $Ca(OH)_2$ and $H_3PO_4$. The precipitated DCPD solution was kept at $37^{\circ}C$ for 96 h. Artificial bone cement was composed of DCPD, $Ca(H_2PO_4)_2{\cdot}H_2O$ (MCPM), and $CaSO_4{\cdot}1/2H_2O$, $H_2O$ and aqueous poly-phosphoric acid solution. The wet prepared CaP powder was used as a matrix for the bone cement recipe. With the addition of aqueous poly-phosphoric acid, the cement hardening reaction was started and the CaP bone cement blocks were fabricated for the mechanical strength measurement. For the tested blocks, the mechanical strength was measured using a universal testing machine, and the microstructure phase analysis was done by field emission scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. The cement hardening reaction occurred through the decomposition and recrystallization of MCPM and $CaSO_4{\cdot}1/2H_2O$ added on the surface of the wet prepared CaP, and this resulted in grain growth in the bone cement block.

$SrTiO_3$의 습식 직접 합성법 (A Study of $SrTiO_3$ Synthesis by Direct Wet Process)

  • It is desirable to establish reliable synthetic methods for electro-ceramic materials. To synthesize $SrTiO_3$ in this study direct solid state reactions and wet chemical processes were used. Previous study of $SrTiO_3$ synthesis included oxalated-method($SrTiO(C_2O_4)_2$.$4H_2O$) co-precipitation$(SrCO_3+TiO(OH)_2)$ and direct solid state reaction$(SrCO_3+TiO(OH)_2)$ The methods in question lead to intermediate inclusion during the reactions and less controllable in particle sizes of $SrTiO_3$. To obtain highly pure $SrTiO_3$ so-called "direct wet process method" was added in this investigation. In the study the "direct wet process" was for the first time applied to synthesize chemically pure and fine particle $SrTiO_3$. $SrCl_2$ and $TiCl_4$<\ulcornerTEX> at KOH solution at room temperature to 10$0^{\circ}C$ precipitated $SrTiO_3$ The particle size increased as temperature increased.mperature increased.

경산에서의 강수의 화학성분과 지상풍과의 관계 (Relationships between Precipitation Component and Surface Wind at Kyungsan, Korea)

  • This study is an attempt to investigate the chemical components of precipitation and its variation according to surface wind. Precipitation samples were collected by an wet-only precipitation sampler during the period of October 1994 to September 1995 at Kyungsan in Korea. The results obtained in t체s study are summerized as follows. The annual average of precipitation pH is 5.0, the highest month of pH is July of 5.5, and the lowest month of pH is December of 4.4. The most frequent appearance is in the range of pH 5.0 to 5.5 and its rate is 56.8%, The order of ion concentration In precipitation is SO42->NO3->Cl- in case of anion and $Ca^{2+}$>$NH_4^{+}$>$Na^+$>$Mg^{2+}$ in case of cation. It is found from our analysis that the correlation coefficient among the precipitation pH and ion components is below r=0.3, while the correlation coefficient between $SO_4^{2-}$ and NO_3^{-}$, $Na^+$ and $Cl^+$ is above r=0.8, respectively. The mean pH of precipitation is 4.8 under the westerly wind and 5.2 under the easterly wind. The concentrations of anion and cation under the westerly wind are more than the concentrations under the easterly wind. In autumn, the concentration of Na+ and $Cl^+$ under the easterly wind are higher than the concentration under the westerly wind. The correlation coefficients between wind speed and pH, ion components show very low correlation of -0.41 r 0.2. But the present study show that the correlation coefficient between wind speed and pH of precipitation is positive and the correlation coefficients between wind speed and ion concentration is negative.

Chemical Composition and Seasonal Variation of Acid Deposition in Chiang Mai, Thailand

  • This study aims to determine the chemical composition and seasonal variation of atmospheric acid deposition in order to identify possible sources contributing to precipitation. Sampling and analysis of 132 wet deposition samples were carried out from January to December 2008 at Mae Hia Research Center, Chiang Mai University, Chiang Mai Province. Total precipitation was 1,286.7 mm. Mean electro-conductivity and pH values were 0.94 mS/m and 6.27, respectively. Major cations ($Na^+$, ${NH_4}^+$, $K^+$, $Ca^{2+}$, and $Mg^{2+}$) and major anions ($HCOO^-$, $CH_3COO^-$, $Cl^-$, ${NO_3}^-$, and ${SO_4}^{2-}$) were determined by Ion Chromatography. The relative volume weight mean concentrations of anions, in descending order, were ${SO_4}^{2-}$ > ${NO_3}^-$ > $Cl^-$ > $CH_3COO^-$ > $HCOO^-$ and those of cations were $NH_4^+$ > $Ca^{2+}$ > $Mg^{2+}$ > $K^{+}$ > $Na^+$. Results of a principle component analysis highlighted the influence of various possible sources of ions such as agricultural activity, fuel combustion, marine sources, soil resuspension, and biomass burning.

Chemical characteristics of wet precipitation in urban and mountainous sites of Jeju Island

  • Wet precipitation samples were collected in Jeju City and Mt. Halla-1100 site (a site at an altitude of 1100 m on Mt. Halla) during 2011-2013, and their major ionic species were analyzed to examine the chemical composition and characteristics. A comparison of ion balance, electric conductivity, and acid fraction of precipitation revealed correlation coefficients in the range of r = 0.950~0.991, thereby implying the high quality of analytical data. Volume-weighted mean pH and electric conductivity corresponded to 4.86 and 25.5 µS/cm for Jeju City, and 4.98 and 15.1 µS/cm for Mt. Halla-1100 site, respectively. Ionic strengths of the wet precipitation in Jeju City and Mt. Halla-1100 site corresponded 0.3 ± 0.5 and 0.2 ± 0.2 mM, respectively, thereby indicating that more than 30 % of total precipitation was within a pure precipitation criteria. The precipitation with a pH range of 4.5 - 5.0 corresponded to 40.8 % in Jeju City, while the precipitation with a pH range of 5.0 - 5.5 corresponded to 56.9 % in Mt. Halla-1100 site, thereby indicating slightly more weak acidity than that in Jeju city. The volume-weighted mean concentration (µeq/L) of ionic species was in the order of Na+ > Cl- > nss-SO42- > NO3- > Mg2+ > NH4+ > H+ > nss-Ca2+ > PO43- > K+ > CH3COO- > HCOO- > NO2- > F- > HCO3- > CH3SO3- at Jeju City area, while it corresponded to Na+ > Cl- > nss-SO42- > NO3- > NH4+ > H+ > Mg2+ > nss-Ca2+ > PO43- > CH3COO- > K+ > HCOO- > NO2- > F- > HCO3- > CH3SO3- at Mt. Halla-1100 site. The compositions of sea salts (Na+, Cl-, Mg2+) and secondary pollutants (NH4+, nss-SO42-, NO3-) corresponded to 66.1 % and 21.8 %, respectively, in Jeju City and, 49.9 % and 31.5 %, respectively, in Mt. Halla-1100 site. The acidity contributions in Jeju City and Mt. Halla-1100 site by inorganic acids, i.e., sulfuric acid and nitric acid, corresponded to 93.9 % and 91.4 %, respectively, and the acidity contributions by organic acids corresponded to 6.1 % and 8.6 %, respectively. The neutralization factors in Jeju City and Mt. Halla1100 site by ammonia corresponded to 29.8 % and 30.1 %, respectively, whereas the neutralization factors by calcium carbonate corresponded to 20.5 % and 25.2 %, respectively. From the clustered back trajectory analysis, the concentrations of most ionic components were higher when the airflow pathways were moved from the continent to Jeju area.

Use of Wet Chemical Method to Prepare β Tri-Calcium Phosphates having Macro- and Nano-crystallites for Artificial Bone

  • Calcium phosphate crystallites were prepared by wet chemical method for use in artificial bone. In order to obtain ${\beta}$-tricalcium phosphate (TCP), nano-crystalline calcium phosphate (CaP) was precipitated at $37^{\circ}C$ and at $pH5.0{\pm}0.1$ under stirring using highly active $Ca(OH)_2$ in DI water and an aqueous solution of $H_3PO_4$. The precipitated nano-crystalline CaP solution was kept at $90^{\circ}C$ for the growth of CaP crystallites. Through the growing process of CaP crystallites, we were able to obtain various sizes of rectangular CaP crystallites according to the crystal growing times. Dry nano-crystalline CaP powders at $37^{\circ}C$ were mixed with dry macro-crystalline CaP crystallites and the shaped mixture sample was fired at $1150^{\circ}C$ to make a ${\beta}-TCP$ block. Several tens of nm powders were uniformly coated on the surface, which was comprised of powders of several tens of ${\mu}m$, using a vibrator. The mixing ratio between the nanometer powders and the micrometer powders greatly affected the mechanical strength of the mixture block; the most appropriate ratio of these two materials was 50 wt% to 50 wt%. The sintered block showed improved mechanical strength, which was caused by the solid state interaction between the nano-crystalline ${\beta}-TCP$ and the macro-crystalline ${\beta}-TCP$.

석유화학계 기초화합물 제조시설과 합성수지 및 기타 플라스틱물질 제조시설의 폐수처리시설 BAT평가 (Assessment of Best Available Technology of Wastewater Treatment Facilities in Petrochemical Basic Compound Manufacturing and Plastics and Synthetic Resins Manufacturing)

  • The effluent limitations for individual industry based on the best available technology economically achievable (BAT) have been required to achieve effective regulation. BAT assessment criteria that are suitable for the circumstances of Korean industry were developed in the previous study. The criteria were applied to determine the BAT for petrochemical basic compound manufacturing (PBCM) and plastics and synthetic resins manufacturing (PSRM) industry. Wastewater discharged from the each category contains high concentration of COD and toluene. Eighteen sites were surveyed and wastewater qualities were analyzed. Six and two different technologies were applied to the PBCM and PSRM industry for the end-of-pipe treatment process, respectively. The technology candidates were evaluated in terms of environmental impacts, economically achievability, treatment performance and economical reasonability. As the result, the technology options: typical activated-sludge process + sand filtration + activated carbon adsorption (PBCM) and wet oxidation + chemical precipitation + typical activated-sludge process + chemical precipitation (PSRM) were selected as the BAT for each industry.

하추기 이상 저온하에서 뽕나무 발육부진요인과 추비에 의한 생육증진 (Mulberry Growth Promotion by Nitrogen Application under Abnormally Wet and Cool Weather Conditions)

  • 93년 뽕나무 생육기에 내습한 이상저온 현상에 대한 감수정도와 요인을 분석하는 한편, 경감대책을 마련하기 위해 수원 잠업시험장과 충남 공주군에 소재한 충남도 잠업사업소 등 2개 장소에서 방임구를 대조로 요소엽면시비구 (요소 0.7%), 잠시비료 8호구 (요수 0.7%와 미량요소 함유), 그리고 질소질 6kg/10a를 황산암모늄으로 덧거름한 4개처리구를 설치하여 시험결과 다음과 같았다. 1. 여름베기후 뽕나무 생육기간 중인 6월 하순-9월 상순사이에 전국적으로 평년대비 평균기온은 1.4$^{\circ}C$ 낮았으며, 강우량은 83mm나 많았으며, 그 결과 가을뽕 수량은 평년대비 16.4% 감수되었는데, 뽕잎의 감수에 더 크게 영향하는 요인은 기온의 저하보다는 강우량의 과다에서 오는 질소질의 용탈에 원인하는 것으로 판단되었다. 2. 이상저온 내습시 생육부진을 막기 위해 요소 및 잠시비료 8호를 각각 엽면시비한 구보다는, 질소질 6kg/10a를 덧거름으로 시비한 구에서 5% 수준에서 통계적인 유의차가 인정될 정도로 증수되었다. 3. 뽕잎분석 결과 전질소 함량은 요소살포구와 질소질 덧거름구에서 방임구 3.53% 대비 0.53% 높았다.
