Positioning Precision Improvement of Multi-GNSS Kinematic PPP Using WMN Method

  • Multi-Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) can significantly improve the positioning accuracy and convergence speed. The reliability and availability of multi-GNSS precise point positioning (PPP) is steadily increasing with the rapid development of GNSS satellites. In this study, multi-GNSS PPP analysis is performed to compare the positioning precision by processing the observations from different GNSS systems (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and BeiDou). To improve the positioning performance of the multi-GNSS PPP, we employed the weighed measurement noise (WMN) method. After applying WMN method to multi-GNSS PPP, positioning precision is improved by approximately 26.3% compared to the GPS only solutions, and by approximately 9.1% compared to combined GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo PPP.

  • In statistical computing, it is often for researchers to need the distribution of a weighted sum of noncentral chi-square variables. In this case, it is very limited to know its exact distribution. There are many works to contribute to this topic, e.g. Imhof (1961) and Solomon-Stephens (1977). Imhof's method gives good approximation to the true distribution, but it is not easy to apply even though we consider the development of computer technology Solomon-Stephens's three moment chi-square approximation is relatively easy and accurate to apply. However, they skipped many details, and their simulation is limited to a weighed sum of central chi-square random variables. This paper gives details on Solomon-Stephens's method. We also extend their simulation to the weighted sum of non-central chi-square distribution. We evaluated approximated powers for homogeneous test and compared them with the true powers. Solomon-Stephens's method shows very good approximation for the case.

  • The purpose of this study is to provide a fundamental data for efficient and economical reduction method and predict ion method of floor impact noise. In order to get the useful results, the measurement on the vibration transmission characteristics of standard test building with four rooms by using heavy and light-weighed impact source were carried out. In this measurement various conditions such as the change of test structure construction, the pick-up sensor location, the excitation posit ion, and the resilient material types were applied to get the vibration characteristics transmitted from excitation room to adjacent rooms.

  • By the use of a similar numerical method as the forming limit strain by coating method of coated sheet metals is investigated, in which the FEM is applied and J2G(J2-Gotohs Corner Theory) is utilized as the plasticity constitutive equa-tion. Circular bonded sheet metals with dissimilar sheets on both surface planes are stretched in a plane -strain state, with various work-hardening exponent n-values and thicknesses of each layer. Processes of shear-band formation in such com-posite sheets are clearly illustrated. It is concluded that, it the bonded state, the higher limiting strain of one layer is reduced due to the lower limiting strain of the other layer and vice versa, and does not necessarily obey the rule of linear combination of the limiting strain of each layer weighed according thickness.

  • This paper considers a new weighed model reduction method using block diagonal solutions of Lyapunov inequalities. With the input and/or output weighting function, the stability of the reduced order system is guaranteed and an a priori error bound is proposed. to achieve this after finding the solutions of two Lyapunov inequalities and balancing the full order system, we find the reduced order systems using the direct truncation and the singular perturbation approximation. The proposed method is compared with other existing methods using numerical examples.

  • High-order weighted difference schemes with uniform meshes are considered for the convection-diffusion problem depending on Reynolds numbers. For small Reynolds numbers, a weighed cen-tral difference scheme is suggested since there is no boundary layer. For large Reynolds numbers, we propose a modified up wind method with an artificial diffusion in order to overcome nonphysical oscilla-tion of central schemes and obtain good accuracy in the boundary later. Existence and corresponding error estimates of the solution for the difference scheme have been shown. Numerical experiments are provided to back up the analysis.

  • Taguchi's robust design methodology has focus only a single characteristic or response, but the quality of most products is seldom defined by a characteristics, and is rather the composite of a family of characteristics which are often interrelated and nearly always measured in a variety of units. The multiple characteristics problem is how to compromise the conflicts among the selected levels of the design parameters for each individual characteristic. This paper presents a Taguchi-like approach based upon improved weighted main effects. One case study is solved by the proposed method.

  • World have been encouraged to develop technologies that contribute to CO$_2$ emission reduction for many years. Those technologies can be categorized into capture, storage or sequestration, utilization, etc. There have been lots of efforts, in Korea, to develop the technology as well. In this paper, the impact factors of the technologies, especially in CDRS (Carbon Dioxide Reduction & Sequestration Center), were selected and were weighed by SMM (Storing Models Method) and AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) in order to evaluate the four representative areas of the technologies.

Amounts served and consumed of school lunch differed by gender in Japanese elementary schools

  • School lunches serve to improve nutritional status and to promote the health of children. The purpose of this study was to investigate the portion sizes of school lunches served and consumed in Japanese elementary schools. In addition, gender difference in servings and consumption were also studied. A cross-sectional study was undertaken between October 2007 and February 2008 in schools located in Tokyo and Okayama, Japan. A total of 192 fifth-grade children attending four elementary schools participated in this study. Weighed plate waste methods and observation were used to collect dietary data for two non-consecutive days. The proportion of children who chose staple foods along with main dishes and/or side dishes for at least one day was higher in boys than in girls (respectively, for staple food: 42.1% vs. 9.3%, for main dish and/or side dish: 68.4% vs. 44.3%, P < 0.001). The ratio of initial amount served to amount offered was $0.88{\pm}0.11$ for boys and $0.84{\pm}0.10$ for girls (P < 0.05). The ratio of amount consumed to amount offered was $1.04{\pm}0.19$ for boys and $0.88{\pm}0.12$ for girls (P < 0.001). Weight was related to amount consumed both in boys (r = 0.222, P < 0.05) and in girls (r = 0.201, P < 0.05). These findings suggest that the nutritional standards of school lunch programs should take into account gender differences. Clearly, boys were more likely to consume more than the initial amounts served due to their higher propensity to take second helpings. Boys feel few reservations about taking second helpings to adjust their total intake. However, school lunch plans should take into consideration girls' reluctance to do so, by serving appropriate initial portion sizes.

Growth Inhibition of S.mutans by using fluorine and reproducing the test method by measuring the pH change in the culture solution (불소에 의한 S. mutans의 성장억제 및 배양액의 pH변화 측정을 이용한 실험법 재현)

  • A fluorine solution was used to measure the growth of S.mutans and the pH changes were also measured in order to find an effective and preventative dentistry lab within a limited time for the dental hygiene department curriculum and the following results were obtained. 1. In the growth comparison of S.mutans, the culture medium of the experiment group with fluorine weighed 0.3g and the culture medium with no fluorine weighed 0.5g, which shows that the growth rate of S.mutans is significantly decreased in the culture medium with the fluorine. 2. The pH7.8 of the culture medium was not nearly changed; it became 7.0 after culturing with fluoride, however the pH was significantly decreased to 3 in the culture medium that had no fluorine. 3. Since it has been proven that the fluorine can control the growth of germs, it is believed that the effect of fluorine as a cavity preventative should be emphasized to students and in addition, it will help students transmit the effect of fluoride to their patients since this knowledge has been acquired through practice. 4. It is considered that this is a simple test protocol providing effective results in the microorganism and preventive dentistry lab within a limited time and furthermore, it will furnish the students of dental hygiene with comprehensive accessibility to dental hygiene curriculum.
