Design optimization is a mathematical process to find an optimal solution through the use of formal optimization algorithms. Design plays a vital role in the engineering field; therefore, using design tools in education and research is becoming more and more important. Recently, numerical design optimization in fluid mechanics, which uses computational fluid dynamics (CFD), has numerous applications in the engineering field, because of the rapid development of high-performance computing resources. However, it is difficult to find design optimization software and contents for educational purposes in aerospace engineering. In the present study, we have developed an aerodynamic design framework specifically for an airfoil, based on the EDucation-research Integration through Simulation On the Net (EDISON) portal. The airfoil design framework is composed of three subparts: a geometry kernel, CFD flow analysis, and an optimization algorithm. Through a seamless interface among the subparts, an iterative design process is conducted. In addition, the CFD flow analysis and the design framework are provided through a web-based portal system, while the computation is taken care of by a supercomputing facility. In addition to the software development, educational contents are developed for lectures associated with design optimization in aerospace and mechanical engineering education programs. The software and content developed in this study is expected to be used as a tool for e-learning material, for education and research in universities.
The purpose of this study is to link the Yi tribe's traditional patterns to bag design. Yi tribe is a minor ethic group in China, whose traditional pattern has a high artistic value in that its shapes are diverse and each one has peculiar elegance. Traditional patterns are also indicative of spiritual dept or symbolic stories, rather than being indicative of simple formative beauty. Thus, reorganizing these patterns and applying them artistically to design- in terms of resource utilization- would be significant. Out of all of the Yi tribe's traditional patterns, the cherry blossom_(马樱花), water wave_(水波), sky father and earth mother_(天父地母), pomegranate blossom, triangle, sheep' horn, wisteria vine_(藤条), square and diaper_(四角菱形) and the zigzag_(曲折) patterns were chosen for use during the development of a bag design. This study is based upon document study, including research papers and internet web sites, the point of which was to investigate the form of the traditional patterns, and the creative design process. The design procedure includes these sub-processes: selection, arrangement and color-scheme. In the selection process, the form of the pattern was edited using Adobe Photoshop. The pattern was freely arranged to reflect various emotions. In terms of the color-scheme of the patterns, the colors used by Henri Matisse(1869-1954) in his work were selected and adapted when dyeing the patterns. Subsequently, the final design resulting from these design development processes was applied to the actual production of the bag by using canvas fabric and leather, after which the bag image was proposed using computer simulation. In conclusion, six bag designs were created using traditional patterns from the Yi tribe. Through the processes explained above, this study confirmed that traditional patterns could be widely applied as design motifs and that more sophisticated, modern, and creative designs could be developed based on traditional patterns.
Objectives: By grasping trends in research, technology, and general characteristics of learning support tools, this study was conducted to present a model for research on Korean Medicine (KM) to make use of information technology to support teaching and learning. The purpose is to improve the future clinical competence of medical personnel, which is directly linked to national health. Methods: With papers and patents published up to 2011 as the objects, 438 papers were extracted from "Web of Science" and 313 patents were extracted from the WIPS database (DB). Descriptive analysis and network analysis were conducted on the annual developments, academic journals, and research fields of the papers, patents searched were subjected to quantitative analysis per application year, nation, and technology, and an activity index (AI) was calculated. Results: First, research on medical learning support tools has continued to increase and is active in the fields of computer engineering, education research, and surgery. Second, the largest number of patent applications on medical learning support tools were made in the United States, South Korea, and Japan in this order, and the securement of remediation technology-centered patents, rather than basic/essential patents, seemed possible. Third, when the results of the analysis of research trends were comprehensively analyzed, international research on e-PBL- and medical simulation-centered medical learning support tools was seen to expand continuously to improve the clinical competence of medical personnel, which is directly linked to national health. Conclusions: The KM learning support tool model proposed in the present study is expected to be applicable to computer-based tests at KM schools and to be able to replace certain functions of national KM doctor license examinations once its problem DB, e-PBL, and TKM simulator have been constructed. This learning support tool will undergo a standardization process in the future.

To monitor and predict the change of coastal environment according to the construction of Saemangeum sea dyke and the development of land reclamation, we have done real-time and periodic ocean observation and numerical simulation since 2002. Saemangeum coastal environmental data can be largely classified to marine meteorology, ocean physics and circulation, water quality, marine geology and marine ecosystem and each part of data has been generated continuously and accumulated over about 10 years. The collected coastal environmental data are huge amounts of heterogeneous dataset and have some characteristics of multi-dimension, multivariate and spatio-temporal distribution. Thus the implementation of information system possible to data collection, processing, management and service is necessary. In this study, through the implementation of Saemangeum coastal environmental information system using geographic information system, it enables the integral data collection and management and the data querying and analysis of enormous and high-complexity data through the design of intuitive and effective web user interface and scientific data visualization using statistical graphs and thematic cartography. Furthermore, through the quantitative analysis of trend changed over long-term by the geo-spatial analysis with geo- processing, it's being used as a tool for provide a scientific basis for sustainable development and decision support in Saemangeum coast. Moreover, for the effective web-based information service, multi-level map cache, multi-layer architecture and geospatial database were implemented together.

For Web-based applications in IoT environment, IETF CoRE WG has standardizing the CoAP. One of limitations of CoAP is that CoAP standard does not consider the mobility management of the CoAP sensor node. In this paper, we propose the mobility management protocol of CoAP sensor node by considering the characteristics of the constrained network. The proposed mobility management protocol supports for Web client to be transmitted the sensing data from CoAP node reliably while the CoAP sensor moves into different wireless networks. To do this, we designed the architecture with the separate IP address management of CoAP sensor node and presented the mobility management protocol, which includes the holding and binding mode, in order to provide the reliable transmission. Finally, the numerical analysis and simulation with NS2 tool have been done for the performance evaluation in terms of the handover latency and packet loss with comparing the proposed mobility management protocol with other the existing mobility management protocols. The performance result shows that the proposed mobility management can provide the transmission of sensing data without the packet loss comparing with the existing mobility management protocol reliably.
Over the past decade, the improvement of communications technologies and the rapid spread of www (World Wide Web) have brought on the exponential growth of users using Internet and real time multimedia multicast services like video conferencing, tele-immersive virtual reality, and Internet games. The dense-wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) networks have been widely accepted as a promising approach to meet the ever-increasing bandwidth demands of Internet users, especially in next generation Internet backbone networks for nation-wide or global coverage. A major challenge in the next generation Internet backbone networks based on DWDM technologies is the resolution of the multicasting RWA (Routing and Wavelength Assignment) problem; given a set of wavelengths in the DWDM network, we set up light-paths by routing and assigning a wavelength for each connection so that the multicast connections are set-upped as many as possible. Finding such optimal multicast connections has been proven to be Non-deterministic Polynomial-time-complete. In this paper, we suggest a new heuristic multicast routing and wavelength assignment method for multicast sessions called DVS-PMIPMR (Differentiated Virtual Source-based Priority Minimum Interference Path Multicast Routing algorithm). We measured the performance of the proposed algorithm in terms of number of wavelength and wavelength channel. The simulation results demonstrate that DVS-PMIPMR algorithm is superior to previous multicast routing algorithms.
The fashion in the virtual world is emerging as a new genre. Gammer in virtual community shares the avatars and space for their activities and for flourishing their virtual lives, they start to demand indispensable daily items. The gammer's demands lead to the concept of second life in the virtual world which was introduced in 2003. The trading business system is realized at the virtual world with various daily items, developed by individual programmers, through the virtual money, which may converted into real money. Particularly, fashion industry's inherent nature of snagging on-line trading is no more, now, set to ready in the virtual world let alone various daily virtual items developed by individual programmers. The purpose of this study is, focused on the virtual second life, to introduce the model of fashion business in virtual world and overall informations regarding second life business systems so as to provide the fundamental data for opening the web.3.0 era. Further various fashion items in the virtual world, developed by individual programers, will be another boost for shaping another virtual fashion business genre.
With the rapid development of information and communication technology, a lot of multi-media learning programs are being developed and reported in the field of Emergency medicine both home and abroad. In this connection, this study was aimed at developing a foreign-body airway obstruction courseware in adults for EMT. The development period of CAI courseware lasted from May 2003 through November 2003. Among CAI courseware patterns, private instruction and repeat practice and simulation patterns were used as an instruction-learning strategy. The learning contents of the CAI courseware consisted of five chapters concerning (1) A relief of partial FBAO in the responsible victim, (2) A relief of complete FBAO in the responsible victim, (3) In case of unconsciousness in the responsible victim without removing all foreign body, (4) In case of consciousness in all victims after getting removed all foreign body and (5) A complete airway obstruction in victims without consciousness on the basis of assess responsiveness and the degree of airway obstruction. The way to use this courseware, with just a click on one specific chapter, was developed to proceed a course with progressive algorithm, a method of solving problems by choosing one between two situations. A characteristic of this CAI courseware is the enhanced efficiency of an instruction-learning method by providing an opportunity of choice based on situations in its effort to encourage learners to use a self-initiated learning method, not one-way method and to enhance problem solving skills among situations. Moreover, this courseware went through the diverse phases such as development, application, feedback in connection with learning process by practicing teachers, so that the courseware could be used frequently in the future. The contents of this courseware were written with the web, so that, if necessary, the contents could be continuously modified and complemented and handed out in the form of CD-ROM. This study indicates that the development of a variety of CAI courseware requires institutional and financial assistance and initiatives reflecting a reality in terms of learning process, technical assistance and resources.

A Vehicle Tracking System consists of GPS tracking device which fits into the vehicle and captures the GPS location information at regular intervals to a central GIS server, and GIS tracking server providing three major responsibilities: receiving data from the GPS tracking unit, securely storing it, and serving this information on demand of the user. GPS based tracking systems supporting a multi-session processing among RMA, RM, and RCP can make a quick response to various services including other vehicle information between RSU and OBU on demand of the user. In this paper we design RSU lower layers and RCP applications in OBU for a multisession processing simulation and test message processing transactions among RMA-RM and RM-RCP. Furthermore, we implement the additional functions of handling access commands simultaneously on multiple service resources which are appropriate for the experimental testing conditions. In order to make a multi-session processing test, it reads 30 resource data,0002/0001 ~ 0002/0030, in total and then occurs 30 session data transmissions simultaneously. We insert a sequence number field into a special header of dummy data as a corresponding response to check that the messages are received correctly. Thus, we find that GIS service system with a multi-session processing is able to provide additional 30 services in a same speed of screen presentation loading while identifying the number of session processing of Web GIS service, the number of OBU service, and the speed of screen presentation loading by comparing a single session and a multi-session of GIS service system.

Implemented since 2004, TPLC (Total Pollution Load Control) is the most powerful water-quality protection program. Recently, uncertainty of prediction using steady state model increased due to changing water environments, and necessity of a dynamic state model, especially the watershed model, gained importance. For application of watershed model on TPLC, it needs to be feasible to adjust the relationship (mass-balance) between discharged loads estimated by technical guidance, and arrived loads based on observed data at the watershed outlet. However, at HSPF, simulation is performed as a semi-distributed model (lumped model) in a sub-basin. Therefore, if the estimated discharged loads from individual pollution source is directly entered as the point source data into the RCHRES module (without delivery ratio), the pollutant load is not reduced properly until it reaches the outlet of the sub-basin. The hypothetic RCHRES generated using the HSPF BMP Reach Toolkit was applied to solve this problem (although this is not the original application of Reach Toolkit). It was observed that the impact of discharged load according to spatial distribution of pollution sources in a sub-basin, could be expressed by multi-segmentation of the hypothetical RCHRES. Thus, the discharged pollutant load could be adjusted easily by modification of the infiltration rate or characteristics of flow control devices.
