The purpose of present research is to develop and efficient numerical method for the calculation of potential flow and predict the wave-making resistance for the application to ship design of tuna purse seiner. Havelock was considered the wave resistance of a post extending vertically downwards through the water from the surface, its section by a horizontal plane being the same at all depths and having its breadth small compared with its length. This enables us to elucidate certain points of interest in ship resistance. However, the ship has not infinite draft. So, the problem which is investigated ind detail in this paper is the wave resistance of a mathematical quadratic model in a uniform stream. The paper deals with the numerical calculation of potential flow around the series 60 with forward velocity by the new slender ship theory. This new slender ship theory is based on the asymptotic expression of the Kelvin-source, distributed over the small matrix at each transverse section so as to satisfy the approximate hull boundary condition due to the assumption of slender body. The numerical results using the panel shift method and finite difference method are compared with the experimental results for wigley mono hull. There are no differences in the wave resistance. However, it costs much time to compute not only wave resistance but also wave pattern over some range of Froude numbers. More improvements are strongly desired in the numerical procedure.

The 3-D modeling of ocean finite element method(OFEM) using $k-{\varepsilon}$ turbulent model and tetrahedron grids has been used to investigate the internal wave generation during the expansion of the deep water from the open sea to the shelf with a simple shape, which can be widely used in the fields of submarine development, ocean environment and meteorology, etc. In this paper, the detailed configuration of internal wave with its length and height and also the distribution of salinity and turbulent kinematic energy, etc. were derived. It is hoped that this OFEM method can be successfully applied to the numerical calculation of internal wave for and the oceanographic problems (tidal flows around underwater hill, plateau, Georges Bank, etc.) and ocean engineering problems(flow past artificial sea reefs) in future.

There has been much effort to find suitable methods for structural analysis in the mid-frequency region where traditional low frequency methods have increasing uncertainties whilst statistical energy analysis is not strictly applicable. Systems consisting of relatively stiff beams coupled to flexible plates have a particularly broad mid-frequency region where the beams support only a few modes whilst the plate has a high modal density and modal overlap. A system of two parallel beams coupled to a plate is investigated based on the wave method, which is an approximate method. The wave model is extended from a single-beam-plate system, to a plate with two identical beams which is modelled using a symmetric-anti symmetric technique. Experimental results such as powers and energy ratios show the validity of the analytical wave models.

A classification ensemble method aggregates different classifiers obtained from training data to classify new data points. Voting algorithms are typical tools to summarize the outputs of each classifier in an ensemble. WAVE, proposed by Kim et al. (2011), is a new weight-adjusted voting algorithm for ensembles of classifiers with an optimal weight vector. In this study, when constructing an ensemble, we applied the WAVE algorithm on the double-bagging method (Hothorn and Lausen, 2003) to observe if any significant improvement can be achieved on performance. The results showed that double-bagging using WAVE algorithm performs better than other ensemble methods that employ plurality voting. In addition, double-bagging with WAVE algorithm is comparable with the random forest ensemble method when the ensemble size is large.
The shock wave process represents an abrupt change in fluid properties, in which finite variations in pressure, temperature, and density occur over the shock thickness which is comparable to the mean free path of the gas molecules involved. This shock wave fluid phenomenon is simulated by using the finite difference lattice Boltzmann method (FDLBM). In this paper, a new model is proposed using the lattice BGK compressible fluid model in FDLBM for the purpose of speeding up the calculation as well as stabilizing the numerical scheme. The numerical results of the proposed model show good agreement with the theoretical predictions.

This paper shows shear wave behavior of CFRP composite laminates as a polar grid form to evaluate vibration pattern of ultrasonic transducers, which gives measured modelling fundamental contents of nondestructive evaluation. Polarized direction can be obtained by using a c-scanner and sensitivity of transducers is founded when using through-transmission method of two transducers. And modelling of vector decomposition is presented based on ply-to-ply method to apply practicable nondestructive evaluation of CFRP laminate lay up. This modelling decomposes the transmission of linearly polarized wave into orthogonal components through each ply of a laminate. It is found that a high provable shows between the model and experimental developed in characterizing layup of CFRP composite laminates.
This paper is mainly concerned with the formation of delta standing wave for the scalar conservation law with a linear flux function involving discontinuous coefficients by using the self-similar viscosity vanishing method. More precisely, we use the self-similar viscosity to smooth out the discontinuous coefficient such that the existence of approximate viscous solutions to the delta standing wave for the Riemann problem is established and then the convergence to the delta standing wave solution is also obtained when the viscosity parameter tends to zero. In addition, the Riemann problem is also solved with the standard method and the instability of Riemann solutions with respect to the specific small perturbation of initial data is pointed out in some particular situations.

It is very important to evaluate the surface or subsurface microstructure because of their influences on mechanical properties of materials. Surface SH-wave which is horizontally polarized shear wave traveling along near surface and subsurface layer is an attractive technique for material evaluation. The destructive method is widely used for the estimation of material degradation but it has a great difficulty in preparing specimens from in-service industrial facilities. In this study, nondestructive evaluation for degraded structural materials used at high temperature though surface SH-wave method is discussed. 2.25Cr-1Mo steel specimens which were prepared by the isothermal aging heat treatment at $650^{\circ}$ were evaluated though ultrasonic nondestructive evaluation techniques investigating the change of sound velocity, attenuation coefficient and amplitude spectra. In addition, it has verified experimentally the frequency-dependence of attenuation coefficient though wavelet analysis method.
Using a 3-D numerical scheme (LES-WASS-3D) that considered wave-structure-sandy seabed interactions in a 3-D wave field, we analyzed the wave reflection and hydraulic characteristics inside a slit caisson with two chambers in a 3-D oblique wave field. To verify the 3-D numerical analysis method suggested in this study, we compared the numerical results with existing experimental results and found good agreement. The numerical analysis revealed that a standing wave field is generated on the front side of the slit caisson due to the effect of wave reflection. For incident waves propagating perpendicular to the slit caisson, the nodes and anti-nodes of the standing wave are apparent and symmetrical. However, in an oblique wave field, as the incident wave angle decreases, the nodes and anti-nodes of the standing wave become ambiguous and unsymmetrical. It was also found that the wave reflection coefficient decreases as the incident wave angle decreases. It can be pointed out that as the incident wave angle decreases, the turbulent intensity in the chamber increases. Thereby, the increased wave energy dissipation by the increased turbulent intensity reduces the rate of wave reflection. In addition, a strong turbulent intensity generally occurs in the first chamber.
Love wave and Rayleigh wave are the major elastic waves belonging to the category of the surface wave. Those waves are used to determine the ground stiffness profile using their dispersion characteristics. The fact that Love wave is not contaminated by P-wave makes Love wave superior to Rayleigh wave and other body waves. Therefore, the information that Love wave carries is more distinct and clearer than that of others. Based on theoretical research, the joint inversion analysis that uses the dispersion information of both Love and Rayleigh wave was proposed. Numerical analysis, theoretical model test, and field test were performed to verify the joint inversion analysis. Results from 2D, 3D finite element analysis were compared with those from the transfer matrix method in the numerical analysis. On the other hand, the difference of results from each inversion analysis was investigated in the theoretical model analysis. Finally, practical applicability of the joint inversion analysis was verified by performing field test. As a result, it is confirmed that considering dispersion information of each wave simultaneously prevents excessive divergence and improves accuracy.
