  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate students' satisfaction with foodservice of middle school by region in Gangwon province. Students’ satisfaction concerning foodservice quality characteristics was surveyed by using importance performance analysis(IPA) technique in middle school foodsevice operations. Middle school students from four cities(Gangnung, Sokcho, Wonju, Chuncheon) were surveyed by self-developed questionnaire. Total of 1,025 questionnaires(female 521 and male 504 respectively) were analyzed using SAS program. The results of this study are summarized as follows: 1.The performance level of foodservice quality attributes was significantly different according to region. 2.The attribute of the highest performance level was taste of food. The attributes of the lower performance level were waiting time of meal service and treatment about complaints. The attributes of the higher importance level were hygiene of food and dining room and hygiene of spoon and cup and drinking water table. 3.Satisfied quality attributes identified were taste of food and variety of menu. Dissatisfied quality attribute identified was treatment about complaints. 4.The satisfaction of middle school lunch service was lower than their elementary school period. 5.The satisfied quality attributes of middle school foodservice were portion size, facility of dining room, hygiene of food, variety of menu compared with their elementary school period.

  • The core of cooking, or a final stage in the full process of so-called artistic cooking, should be treated with insourcing. Reduction of several cooking processes resulted in shortened cooking time, increased efficiency, faster cooking, cutting the waiting-lines, and finally more room for customers. The outsourcing system can reduce or eliminate the following processes in cooking: buying various food materials, checking, storing, preparing, and processing. Especially in the Western food cooking department of a hotel, the outsourcing system should be enforced to make an economic kitchen and to efficiently manage it.

  • A new approximation method for finding the steady-state probabilities of the number of customers present in queueing systems with Poisson arrivals and two servers with different deterministic service times with infinite waiting room capacity is developed. The major assumption made for the approximation is that the residual service times of the servers have mutually independent uniform distributions with densities equal to the reciprocals of the respective service times. The method reflects the heterogeneity of the servers only through the ratio of their service times, irrespective of the actual magnitudes and difference. The transition probability matrix is established and the steady-state probabilities are found for a variety of traffic intensities and ratios of the two service times; also the mean number of customers present in the system and in the queue, and server utilizations are found and tabulated. The method was validated by simulation and turned out to be very sharp.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest architectural planning guideline for the improvement of the evacuation environment in a ward. To suggest of guideline, the problem of irrational domestic criteria is searched according to compare National fire code (NFPA101, Life safety code) with Korea building law. This study includes stairs, corridors and exit door etc. but excludes fire facilities. To verify effectiveness of suggested guideline, egress simulation is run that based on databases according to literature survey. The results of this study could be summarized as follow: Suggested guidelines are subdivision(fire partition), evacuation by elevator, secure useful waiting space of elevator hall and smokeproof enclosures, the corridor is divided by fire or smoke barriers corridor from hazardous room, only wheeled items are arranged in corridors of a ward story. The result of computer simulation for suggested guidelines verify that egress time can be decreased 20% or above.

  • Background : There were so many patients who are waiting for admission in Emergency room in spite of more than one hundred empty beds everyday. This study was conducted to evaluate admission-discharge module system by OCS which reduce empty beds. Methods : The data of bed utilization in general beds from 2004 were reviewed. For evaluation of performance at admission-discharge module system by OCS, the change of Occupancy of bed were calculated. Results : The percentage of Average Bed Emptiness was changed from 13.8% to 9.2%. The residents in surgery(100%) and in internal medicine(75.5%) approved this system. Conclusion : The personnel in hospital recognized that it was very important to manage bed. The management of beds by OCS was helpful to reduce empty beds and was important.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the direct relationship between doctors and number of patients to be treated by applying many kinds of I E's techniques. Generally, doctors in this research work both at OPD & IPD. Under the hospital manegement system that they are applying in, doctor's daily working schedules are instable because the numbers of OPD patients very daily. Therefore, the amount of time they spend for inward Patients are variable too. So the numbers of Patients have great influence to the whole hospital system management. In the first place, the author researched and analyzed a QC of administrative system. Tn the second place, the author carried out Work Sampling with a view for understanding quantity of a doctor's operation. The author suppose this research and analysis is one approach for improving systematic lay-out planning at outpatient waiting room where has many problems to be solved and suggest several process for improvement.

  • We discuss the problem of selecting profitable customer orders arriving at a company providing two classes of services. For an arriving customer order for the first class, the company 1) makes a decision whether to accept or reject it (admission control), or 2) decides a price of the order to offer to an arriving customer (pricing control). The customer order undergoing processing in the system may be cancelled owing to unavoidable circumstances with the customer. The second class of service is provided as a sideline, which prevents the server from being idle when all the customer orders for the first class are completed and delivered. This yields the sideline profit. We discuss both admission control and pricing control problems in an identical framework as well as examine the structure of the optimal policies maximizing the total expected present discounted net profit gained over an infinite planning horizon.

  • The objective of this study was to find out the level of patient expectation and satisfaction on their services. The questionaire reports of 781 patients, which were structured with the question about the level expectation and satisfaction of the services. Major findings of this study were as follows 1) The percentage of patients satisfied with the services as a whole is 59.1 %,where more patients are satisfied with the attitude of therapists (87.3 %), the therapeutic-skill of therapists(84.1 %) and the adequateness of treatment (63.9 %) than the expenses of services (42.0 %) and waiting time(47.4 %). 2) Fourty two percents of patients responded that they expected to be recovered completely.

  • This study is about the Spatial Composition and Area Calculation in Plastic Surgical Clinics. 1. The space of the plastic surgical clinics are divided into 4 sections; exam, exam support, the staffs, and waiting and reception area. 2. The average G/N ratio of width was 1.46. The Plastic surgical clinics which had great deviation in the ratio showed these characteristics; first, when they were planned at first, the operation rooms were not assigned enough space; second. space for supporting exam and the activities of staffs was given too little consideration in their first drafts. 3. The average size of operation rooms was $21.76m^2$. The most desirable size was found to be $26.4m^2$ when we put the number of staffs, the movement area of stretcher, and the movement lines of operation room into consideration.
