To deal with the potential XSS vulnerabilities in the source code of the power communication network, an XSS vulnerability detection method combining the static analysis method with the dynamic testing method is proposed. The static analysis method aims to analyze the structure and content of the source code. We construct a set of feature expressions to match malignant content and set a "variable conversion" method to analyze the data flow of the code that implements interactive functions. The static analysis method explores the vulnerabilities existing in the source code structure and code content. Dynamic testing aims to simulate network attacks to reflect whether there are vulnerabilities in web pages. We construct many attack vectors and implemented the test in the Selenium tool. Due to the combination of the two analysis methods, XSS vulnerability discovery research could be conducted from two aspects: "white-box testing" and "black-box testing". Tests show that this method can effectively detect XSS vulnerabilities in the source code of the power communication network.
The vulnerability of roofing components of contemporary houses built in cyclonic regions of Australia is assessed for increasing wind speeds. The wind loads and the component strengths are treated as random variables with their probability distributions derived from available data, testing, structural analysis and experience. Design details including types of structural components of houses are obtained from surveying houses and analyzing engineering drawings. Wind load statistics on different areas of the roof are obtained by wind tunnel model studies and compared with Australian/New Zealand Standard, AS/NZS 1170.2. Reliability methods are used for calculating the vulnerability of roofing components independently over the roof. Cladding and batten fixings near the windward gable edge are found to experience larger negative pressures than prescribed in AS/NZS 1170.2, and are most vulnerable to failure.

In this study, we wanted to examine the new vulnerability 'Dirty Pipe' that is founded in Linux kernel. how it's exploited and what is the limitation, where it's existed, and overcome techniques and analysis of the Linux kernel package. The study of the method used the hmark[1] program to check the vulnerabilities. Hmark is a whitebox testing tool that helps to analyze the vulnerability based on static whitebox testing and automated verification. For this purpose of our study, we analyzed Linux kernel code that is downloaded from an open-source website. Then by analyzing the hmark tool results, we identified in which file of the kernel it exists, cvss level, statistically depicted vulnerabilities on graph which is easy to understand. Furthermore, we will talk about some software we can use to analyze a vulnerability and how hmark software works. In the case of the Dirty Pipe vulnerability in Linux allows non-privileged users to execute malicious code capable of a host of destructive actions including installing backdoors into the system, injecting code into scripts, altering binaries used by elevated programs, and creating unauthorized user profiles. This bug is being tracked as CVE-2022-0847 and has been termed "Dirty Pipe"[2] since it bears a close resemblance to Dirty Cow[3], and easily exploitable Linux vulnerability from 2016 which granted a bad actor an identical level of privileges and powers.

Software testing is the process of analyzing a software item to detect the differences between existing and required conditions and to evaluate the features of the software item. A traditional testing focuses on proper functionality, not security testing. Fuzzing is a one of many software testing techniques and security testing. Fuzzing methodology has advantage that low-cost, efficiency and so on. But fuzzing has defects such as intervening experts. Also, if there is no specification, fuzzing is impossible. ROAD Tool is automated testing tool for RPC(Remote Procedure Call) based protocol and software without specification. Existing tools are semi-automated. Therefore we must modify these tools. In this paper, we design and implement ROAD tool. Also we verify utility in testing results.
Although many tests for stabilization of the software have been done, vulnerability test for a system run by combination of the software of various products has not been conducted enough. This has led to increased threats and vulnerability of system. Especially, web-based software system, which is public, has inherent possibility of exposure to attacks and is likely to be seriously damaged by an accident. Consequently, comprehensive and systematic test plans and techniques are required. Moreover, it is necessary to establish a procedure for managing and handling the results of vulnerability test. This paper proposes vulnerability test plans and designs for implementing automated tools, both of which can be complied with on web-based software systems.

CC (Common Criteria) requires collecting vulnerability information and analyzing them by using penetration testing for evaluating IT security products. Under the time limited circumstance, developers cannot help but apply vulnerability analysis at random to the products. Without the systematic vulnerability analysis, it is inevitable to get the diverse vulnerability analysis results depending on competence in vulnerability analysis of developers. It causes that the security quality of the products are different despite of the same level of security assurance. It is even worse for the other IT products that are not obliged to get the CC evaluation to be applied the vulnerability analysis. This study describes not only how to apply vulnerability taxonomy to IT security vulnerability but also how to manage security quality of IT security products practically.
Vulnerabilities in software can result in many social and economic problems once it has already been deployed and put to use. Thus, the vulnerabilities should be seriously taken into consideration from the beginning step of software development. A modeling and simulation method for software can be adopted as a testing tool for establishing vulnerability inspection strategies. For verification of usability of this strategy, in this paper, we modeled the behavior of a DNS system using Ptolemy and the simulation was performed. The result shows that a well-known vulnerability of DNS server could be effectively found, which confirms that the modeling and simulation can be used for vulnerability testing.

14 Pressurized Water Reactors (PWR) in Korea use a remote monitoring system (RMS), which have been used in Korea since 1998. A Memorandum of Understanding on Remote Monitoring, based on Enhanced Cooperation on PWRs, was signed at the 10th Safeguards Review Meeting in October 2001 between the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and Ministry Of Science and Technology (MOST). Thereafter, all PWR power plants applied for remote monitoring systems. However, the existing method is high cost (involving expensive telephone costs). So, it was eventually applied to an Internet system for Remote Monitoring. According to the Internet-based Virtual Private Network (VPN) applied to Remote Monitoring, the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) came to an agreement with the IAEA, using a Member State Support Program (MSSP). Phase I is a Lab test. Phase II is to apply it to a target power plant. Phase III is to apply it to all the power plants. This paper reports on the penetration testing of Phase I. Phase I involved both domestic testing and international testing. The target of the testing consisted of a Surveillance Digital Integrated System (SDIS) Server, IAEA Server and TCNC (Technology Center for Nuclear Control) Server. In each system, Virtual Private Network (VPN) system hardware was installed. The penetration of the three systems and the three VPNs was tested. The domestic test involved two hacking scenarios: hacking from the outside and hacking from the inside. The international test involved one scenario from the outside. The results of tests demonstrated that the VPN hardware provided a good defense against hacking. We verified that there was no invasion of the system (SDIS Server and VPN; TCNC Server and VPN; and IAEA Server and VPN) via penetration testing.

Fuzzing is an automated software testing methodology that dynamically tests the security of software by inputting randomly generated input values outside of the expected range. KISA is releasing open source for standard cryptographic algorithms, and many crypto module developers are developing crypto modules using this source code. If there is a vulnerability in the open source code, the cryptographic library referring to it has a potential vulnerability, which may lead to a security accident that causes enormous losses in the future. Therefore, in this study, an appropriate security policy was established to verify the safety of block cipher source codes such as SEED, HIGHT, and ARIA, and the safety was verified using differential fuzzing. Finally, a total of 45 vulnerabilities were found in the memory bug items and error handling items, and a vulnerability improvement plan to solve them is proposed.
