  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the correlation between spatial space structure and visitors' behavior and interpret visitors' behavior concretely from the aspect of exhibition environments. So, this study intends to qualify spatial space structure with integration, connectivity and control value by utilizing space syntax, limit to tracking score among the analysis index and reinterpret with exhibition density and extend of eyesight among the exhibition environments. The results of this study are as follows; First, in case of museums, tracking score shows plus correlation with connectivity and control value among the space syntax variables and very low correlation with integration. In case of art museums, tracking score shows plus correlation with integration and wide variable is judged to more useful to analyze visitor's behavior than minor variable. Second, museums doesn't make a great effect on visitors' behavior from the aspect of extent of eyesight, but from the aspect of exhibition density, visitors relatively watched evenly without short cut at the early stage of exhibition in spite of high exhibition density. And, they conducted short cut as they went to the middle stage of exhibition on the course of watching although the numerical value of exhibition density is low. Third, in case of art museums, visitors' behavior was relatively influenced by exhibition density, not extent of eyesight. But, as they went to the high level on the course of watching, watching speed became rapid and watching length became short in the place the value of extent of eyesight was high. Its reason is judged to be easy to grasp position or space structure of the next exhibition room visually. Therefore, when the concentration of watching is necessary from the aspect of exhibition, to control exhibition density properly before the space is useful to draw visiting to exhibition space afterward.

  • Activities in the dwelling are inseparable from housing design. Spatial features often result from patterns of activities that take place within the dwelling. Activities are further elaborated to affect house plans, furniture, arrangement, and equipment. However, discrepancies still exist between housing design and behavior, where housing design often fails to accommodate activities and behavioral dimensions within the family and the dwelling. This paper addresses the relationship between dwelling activities and housing design by means of a qualitative study that aims to understand the needs of the Indonesian dwelling through activity analysis. To do so, the research adopts a methodology that involves collecting data from measurements of the house, house plan analysis, and photographs, in addition to in-depth semi-structured interviews with families. Taking Bandung as a case study, 9 houses and families were selected as respondents that share similar family life-cycles, number of family members, and building size. The findings from the study suggest that spacious and open plans are preferred by the family, while maintaining family privacy. Guest areas are used to host formal guests and to restrict visitor access in the house. Service areas such as kitchens and laundry areas are the core areas for household activities for cooking, laundry, and drying. To meet social activities such as community gathering, open plan design is necessary to allow flexibility of furniture reconfiguration to accommodate extra guests.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest planning strategy of tenant mix for UEC based on the final result of tenant mix analysis of five different research cases. The following is the comprehensive explanation about the result of tenant mix planning strategy for UEC currently in operation and when planning a new facility. First, overall research cases in this study show the tendency of following an old tradition, which stresses direct sales focusing on retail and dining adaptation. In order to compensate the defect, it is suggested to adopt new type of tenants with the functional mix of retail and dining with entertainment rather than decreasing the proportion of retail and dining tenant and increasing it of entertainment tenant. Second, the floorplan of UEC should adopt racetrack or circuit form that can stimulate shoppers' circular movement so to expose them to as much tenants as possible. Service consumption mode related tenants are required to place on the side or the edge of UEC, while retail consumption mode related tenants should be planned in the center. Among dining consumption mode related tenants, impulse dining tenants like a coffee shop should be placed at the turning point or at the end of the pathway, destination tenants like a restaurant and a food court, on the other hand, is needed to be placed in the center of the space. In case of Entertainment related tenants, destination tenants like bookstore or multiplex should also be placed at the end of the pathway, and on the way to those tenants, it is required to place general tenants that can share target customers with them. On the contrary, game center or record shop like tenants that can stimulate impulse sales should be placed on the visitor's main move or near the other destination tenants. Third, anchor tenants play an important role in gathering people to the UEC, and then induce them to visit the other tenants that are located near the anchors. Thus it is suggested to plan to place general tenants on the same floor as anchor tenants are placed so they can share the characteristics of target customers which create synergy effect.

This study adopted the method of Importance-Performance Analysis by collecting data through questionnaires. A random sampling of visitors to Insa-dong was conducted in June and July,2001. The survey included questions on the physical and psychological components of Insa-dong's tourism resources. In the case of physical components, eight factors(ancient arts shop, art gallery, atelier, calligraphy shop, pottery arts, traditional tea house, antique shop, traditional clothes) out of thirteen were categorized as 'keeping up the good work'. None of the Physical components was shown as 'low priority'or'possible overkill'. In particular, four factors(restaurant, heritage, Korean-style house and alley, traditional cultural festival) need to be impoved most urgently in terms of visitors'satisfaction. Survey results realize them as high priority in importance but low in performance, thereby designated as, 'concentrate here'. An image of the 'street' showed to be high in importance and identical in performance, so can be categorized between'keeping up the good work'and 'concentrate here'. The results show that unusual outdoor spaces and the festivals of Insa-dong have a significant meaning to the visitors. In the case of psychological components, three factors(general atmosphere experience of unusual atmosphere, appropriateness of stroll time) out of seventeen were categorized as 'keeping up the good work'. Ore factor (shopping) was designated as 'low priority'and not found to be 'possible overkill'. Thirteen factors (various events, possibility of various activity, various flood, richness of play, new experience, education cultural inheritance, parking facilities, resting places, green spaces, meeting places, guide map and information, cleanliness of facilities/convenience) need to be improved mast urgently in terms of visitors' fulfillment. They are perceived as areas of 'concentrate here'. This confirms that attractive events are essential for the recent visitor satisfaction. Furthermore, visitors are not satisfied with its amenity and acccss in Insa-dong despite the improvements. In conclusion, positive impressions, both physical and psychological, should be maintained while factors mentioned to be lacking should be prioritized in order of necessity to improve the image of Insa-dong and solutions need to be found and implemented. The results of this study would be helpful in the planning and management of nsa-dong considering the visitors'requirements.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the nature of the patient service quality of health center, and based on that, to examine the relationship of health center visitor's perceived quality and overall satisfaction. Data were collected on the basis of 'the 3rd Regional Health Care Planning' operated by Rural Health Care Service Technology Aid Task-force Team(RHCSTAT), Ministry of Health and Welfare. Basically, the Manual of 3rd Regional Health Care Planning is composed of structure, process, and outcome measurement indicators. Of these indicators, 21 patient satisfaction questions as outcome indicators are used in this study. The samples are 3,530 patients who visited 80 health centers all of the nation. First, the reliability and validity of patient service quality items was evaluated. Second, the descriptive statistics of health service quality are calculated. Third, through the T-test and ANOVA, the differences of patient satisfaction by responder's general characteristics are compared. In final, to explore the relationship of service quality and overall satisfaction, multiple regression analysis was used. This study shows firstly, the dimension of patient service quality was categorized into 3 dimensions, that is, facilities and environment, staff kindness, and access convenience. Secondly, the reliability and validity of patient service quality items was satisfied. Thirdly, the mean score of staff kindness factors are high in contrast to the facilities and environment. And in regard to the overall satisfaction, the mean score is more higher in Daegu region, County type health center, male group, and upper 65 age group than comparison groups. Lastly, as a result of multiple regression analysis, the effect of patient's perceived service quality, especially, appropriateness of billing time(Beta=0.190) and of reservation time(Beta=0.132) are statistically significant(P<0.01). In conclusion, to satisfy the health need of community people and improve the service quality of the health center, the efforts for the access convenience might be needed. Additionally, the enlargement on health center space and supply of new medical equipment is urgent for the patient satisfaction.
