모바일 플랫폼 가상현실 콘텐츠에 적합한 게임패드/시선 기반 입력 처리 기술에 관한 연구 (A Study on Gamepad/Gaze based Input Processing for Mobile Platform Virtual Reality Contents)

  • 본 연구는 모바일 플랫폼 기반의 가상현실 콘텐츠 제작에 적합한 입력 처리 기술을 제안한다. 우선 가상현실 콘텐츠를 체험하는 사용자의 몰입감 향상, 흥미 유발 그리고 편리한 조작이 가능한 입력처리 기술을 설계하기 위하여 실험에 사용될 모바일 플랫폼 기반의 3차원 대화형 콘텐츠를 제작한다. 그리고 모바일에 접근성이 용이한 게임패드 방식과 사용자가 바라보는 시선을 직접 인터페이스로 활용하는 방식의 두 단계로 나누어 입력 처리 기술을 설계한다. 제안한 가상현실 기반의 입력 처리 기술이 사용자에게 몰입감 향상의 효과, 흥미를 유발시키는 동기 그리고 콘텐츠를 조작하는데 편리함을 제공하는 지 여부를 실험을 통해 분석한다. 뿐만 아니라 멀미 현상, 피로감 같은 부정적인 심리 요인을 야기시키는 여부 또한 검증하도록 한다.

  • This paper presents a haptic rendering algorithm in the case that the virtual environment elastically deforms in response to the force applied by a user with a virtual tool. Considering friction, elasticity, multiple contacts and dynamics of the virtual object, this algorithm lets the operator have the feel of interactions in the virtual environment as close as to the reality. Based on the proposed algorithm several experiments are conducted and its effectiveness is confirmed.

  • This paper presents an experimental result of virtual mode input shaping for positioning stage. Input shaping is liable to increase the rise time of the system, which often degrades the performance of system. The virtual mode input, shaping is an input shaper design method to improve this problem. Experiments are performed with a precise positioning stage with a flexible beam of which natural frequency is adjustable. The experimental results show that the virtual-mode shaper is useful to reduce the rise time as well as the residual vibration of precise positioning stages.

  • This paper presents the haptic rendering algorithm which gives the feel information to the operator by manipulating a virtual tool with a haptic device in the simulated environment. The movement of a virtual tool grasped by the operator, which is modeled as a square is displayed in the graphic screen of a computer and the virtual environment is modeled as deformable thin film. When the tool contacts with the virtual environment, the operator is forced to feel the contact and the feature of the deformed virtual environment through the torque control of th haptic device. Contact situations are modeled as close as to the reality considering friction, elasticity and multiple contacts. Several experiments are conducted and the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is confirmed.

  • This paper describes prototype Virtual Reality Ship Simulator (VRSS) that we have recently developed next-generation training equipment based on the virtual reality (VR) technology. The inherent defects of conventional ship simulators are enormous costs and difficult system upgrade due to the system construction, such as large mock-up bridge system, wide visual presentations, In this paper, to cope with those problems, we explored VR technology that can give realistic environments in a virtual world. Then we constructed prototype VRSS system, which is, consists of PC-based human sensors, and Databases set having 3D object models and coefficients of Head Related Transfer Functions (HRTFs). 3D-WEBMASTER authoring tool was used as Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML). Using the VRSS system, we constructed Port an Passage Simulator for the harbor of INCHON in Korea, and Ship and Sea State Simulator for an arbitrary given sea environmental states by user. Through many simulation tests, we testified the efficiency of developed prototype VRSS by subject assessment with five participants. Then, we present results on the simulation experiments and conclude with discussion of evaluation results.

전산수치해석 기반 화재훈련 VR 시뮬레이터의 개발 (A Development of Fire Training Simulator Based on Computational Fluid Dynamics Simulation)

  • An experience based training system concerning various fire situations which may result many casualties has been required to make rapid decision and improve the responsiveness. Recently, the necessity of virtual reality (VR) based training system which can replace a dangerous full-scale fire training and be easily adopted to the training or evaluation process is increasing. This study constructed tile virtual environment according to pre-defined scenarios, utilized the FDS(Fire Dynamics Simulator), three dimensional computational fire analysis program, to derive numerically simulated data on the propagation of fire. Finally, by visualizing the realistic fire and smoke behavior through virtual reality technique and implementing real-time interaction, we developed a VR-based fire training simulator. Also, in order to ensure the sense for tile real of a virtual world and reaI-time performance at the same time, we proposed appropriate data processing and space search algorithms, demonstrate d the value of proposed method through experiments.

  • Cyber Sickness, which occurs when using Virtual Reality contents, is the most serious problem in immersive Virtual Reality contents. The purpose of this study is to identify the effects and causes of graphic environmental factors on Cyber Sickness in Virtual Reality contents. To this end, cyber sickness experiments were conducted according to the light source and material settings, which are most commonly used in graphical environmental elements. Cyber Sickness measurements were based on the Simulator Sickness Question(SSQ) tool to derive an index that causes Cyber Sickness As a result of the analysis, the smaller the surface roughness, the higher the degree of Cyber Sickness, and the smaller the surface roughness, the smoother the surface of the 3D object, and many specular reflections from the light source occurred, which was confirmed to be the cause of great Cyber Sickness.

웹기반 디지털 논리회로 가상실험실의 교육효과 (Education Effect of a Web-based Virtual Laboratory for Digital Logic Circuits)

  • 본 논문에서는 논리회로 실험용 장비 사용법 및 실험 내용에 대한 교육용 멀티미디어 콘텐츠로 구성된 논리회로 가상실험실이 실제 실험 교육에 끼치는 교육효과를 조사하였다. 대학 저학년의 공학 실험의 경우, 실험 회로 및 실험 장비 사용법에 대한 사전 이해가 절실히 요구된다. 그러나 기존의 전통적인 실험환경에서는 실험 장비 사용법 교육의 경우, 장비에 대한 접근성이 제한되어 있고, 짧은 실험시간 내에 다양한 기능을 설명하기에는 많은 제약이 있으며, 실험회로의 다양한 동작에 대한 경험은 실제 실험에서나 가능한 문제점이 있다. 본 논문에서 구현한 논리회로 가상실험실에서는 실제 실험 전에 실습자에게 실제 실험과 같은 환경을 제공하여 사전에 실험 준비를 할 수 있도록 한다. 가상실험실을 활용한 집단과 그렇지 않은 집단인 30명 단위의 두 실험 집단에 대해 가상실험실의 교육효과를 조사한 결과, 가상실험실을 활용한 집단이 한 학기 실험과정에서 평균 8.2% 정도의 실험시간 단축을 보였다.

  • 가상공간 즉 웹상에서 가상 실험실을 개발하여 공학 실험교육을 수행하려는 시도가 많이 이루어지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 가상교육의 현실성 부족이라는 문제점의 해결책으로 실시간 원격실험실을 제안하고 구현하였다. 원격실험실은 실험실험 관련 회로 및 장비를 웹상에서 원격 제어하여 실험을 하며, 그 결과 데이터 및 영상 정보를 되돌려 받을 수 있도록 하는 기능을 제공하여 학습자로 하여금 시간과 장소에 구애 없이 현장감 있는 실험학습을 수행할 수 있도록 설계 구현되었다. 서버 클라이언트 환경에서 개방형 JAVA WEB START 기술, FTP 기술, TELNET 기술 등 인터넷 활용 기술을 기반으로 하는 본 논문의 원격 실험실 모듈은 저렴한 비용으로 구현할 수 있고, 실시간 하드웨어 제어와 관련된 다양한 분야의 공학실험교육에 효과적으로 적용할 수 있을 것이다.

A Hybrid Cloud Testing System Based on Virtual Machines and Networks

  • Traditional software testing typically uses many physical resources to manually build various test environments, resulting in high resource costs and long test time due to limited resources, especially for small enterprises. Cloud computing can provide sufficient low-cost virtual resources to alleviate these problems through the virtualization of physical resources. However, the provision of various test environments and services for implementing software testing rapidly and conveniently based on cloud computing is challenging. This paper proposes a multilayer cloud testing model based on cloud computing and implements a hybrid cloud testing system based on virtual machines (VMs) and networks. This system realizes the automatic and rapid creation of test environments and the remote use of test tools and test services. We conduct experiments on this system and evaluate its applicability in terms of the VM provision time, VM performance and virtual network performance. The experimental results demonstrate that the performance of the VMs and virtual networks is satisfactory and that this system can improve the test efficiency and reduce test costs through rapid virtual resource provision and convenient test services.
