Application of Multi-Resolution Modeling in Collaborative Design (협업 설계에서의 다중해상도 모델링 응용)

  • This paper provides a framework for information assurance within collaborative design, based on a technique we call role-based viewing. Such role-based viewing is achieved through integration of multi-resolution geometry and security models. 3D models are geometrically partitioned, and the partitioning is used to create multi-resolution mesh hierarchies. Extracting a model suitable for access rights for individual designers within a collaborative design environment Is driven by an elaborate access control mechanism. 

Factors related to Young Children′s Empathy (유아의 공감에 관련된 변인 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify how characteristics of young children (sex, age, temperament), mothers (employed or unemployed, intimacy between mother and child, parenting attitudes), and home environment (pet, TV/Video viewing) relate to young children's empathy and to examine the relative effects of then variables on young children's empathy. The subjects for this study were 300 3-, 4-, and 5-year-olds selected from kindergartens and day-care centers in Busan. Data were analyzed via t-test, correlation, and multiple regression. Results showed that girls had higher empathy score than boys. Young children's empathy was positively correlated with the sociability of young child's temperament, intimacy between mother and young child, reasoning guidance, affect, achievement of parenting attitudes, and parental intervention toward young child after TV/video viewing. However, young children's empathy was correlated negatively with authoritarian control of parenting attitudes. Among then variables, young children's sex was the most significant variable.

Stereoscopic 3D Modelling Approach with KOMPSAT-2 Satellite Data

  • This paper investigates stereo 3D viewing for linear pushbroom satellite images using the Orbit-Attitude Model proposed by Kim (2006) and using OpenGL graphic library in Digital Photogrammetry Workstation. 3D viewing is tested with KOMPSAT-2 satellite stereo images, a large number of GCPs (Ground control points) collected by GPS surveying and orbit-attitude sensor model as a rigorous sensor model. Comparison is carried out by two accuracy measurements: the accuracy of orbit-attitude modeling with bundle adjustment and accuracy analysis of errors in x and y parallaxes. This research result will help to understand the nature of 3D objects for high resolution satellite images, and we will be able to measure accurate 3D object space coordinates in virtual or real 3D environment.

  • Conventional TV viewing environment had provided limited numbers of channels and contents so that accessibility of contents was made user's manual change of TV channels and by manual selection of TV program contents. However, with advent of IPTV and various contents and channels available to users’ terminals, excessive numbers of TV contents become available to users’ terminals, thus leading to totally different TV viewing environments. In this TV environment, users are required to make much effort to choose their preferred TV channels or program contents, which becomes much cumbersome to the users. Therefore, in this paper, we will propose TV contents schedule recommendation by making reasoning on users’ TV viewing patterns from TV viewing history data using sequential pattern mining so that so that it increases accessibility of users to many TV program contents which may be or may not be aware of the users.

  • Today, many museums are changing their forms with ubiquitous environment. Unlike traditional museums providing only static text-based information attached to its corresponding artifacts to visitors, those ubiquitous museums provide not only artifacts' text information, but also many different forms of information such as sound or media through personal digital assistance or cell phones. However, these existing ubiquitous museums still provide each visitor only with artifact-centric information in very simple ways. Also this disadvantageous feature causes high gallery congestion problem resulting from providing a uniform path for every visitor. These limitations may be the biggest barrier to providing more various and useful information about artifacts to visitors through considering each visitor's preference. This paper propose a new optimal viewing path search algorithm to provide comfortable museum viewing for each visitor according to its preference. Also, a new congestion control method is developed to protect visitors from being put in some hot spots on their museum viewing, improving its comfort to a maximum.

A Research on Curved Display Comparing to Flat Display Regarding Posture, Tilt Angle, Focusing Area and Satisfaction

  • Objective: This study is conducted on the differences between flat and curved displays with respect to location of focused points, posture and satisfaction as well as preferred tilt angles. Background: In order to avoid physical and eye fatigue caused by misplayed sitting posture, many studies have asserted that the display requires appropriate location, size and tilt angle as well as curvature. However, most studies have focused on the work environment and the results are varied in the extent. Method: Eye height data in sitting posture were collected from 30 participants. Participants selected the most comfortable viewing angle within the range from $0^{\circ}$ to $12^{\circ}$ while watching videos for both curved and flat display. Then, physical and eye fatigue and overall satisfaction were subjectively evaluated. Lateral diagram describing viewing display condition was set and used to develop linear models for expecting the preferred tilt angle. Results: Due to sitting in the natural viewing posture rather than upright, the eye height is lowered to about 4.6 centimeters, on average, for both displays showing no significant differences. In contrast, preferred angles for the two displays are significantly different and this can be interpreted that curvature vary the points focused. Two linear models as functions of sitting eye height are developed to expect preferred tilt angle for each display. Based on the result of overall satisfaction evaluation, curved display is statistically better than flat display. Conclusion: The results show that flat and curved displays are significantly different expect for the viewing posture. However, reasons for preferring curved display are not accurately factorized and the linear models are limited in the experiment condition such as size of display, distance between display and viewer and other physical environmental factors. Further studies on curved displays under more various conditions are required. Application: This study can contribute to use of the curved display in various way.

A Study on the Influence of the Motivation of the Reality Travel Program on the Viewing Satisfaction and Visiting Intention (리얼리티 여행 프로그램의 시청 동기가 시청 만족도와 방문 의도에 미치는 영향 연구)

  • In line with the increasing demand for domestic travel, Reality Travel Programs(hereinafter referred to as RTP) in which actors don't have the script in program are increasing. We explored the impact of RTP "Viewing Satisfaction" and "Revisit Intentions". Firstly, factors of "entertainment", "sympathy", "aesthetic", "information", "interaction" and "Indirect Experience" were confirmed. Secondly, common factors that have a positive impact on Dependent variables in RPT were "esthetics" and "IE". By empathizing with the beauty of the environment and actor's emotions, the RTP had a positive influence to "VS" and wanting to visit the area. Provided a theoretical basis by verifying that viewing motives for RTP have a positive impact on VS and RI.

Physiological Effects of Walking and Viewing on Human at a Urban Arboretums (도심 수목원에서의 경관감상과 산책이 인체의 생리적 안정에 미치는 영향)

  • This research was conducted to investigate the impact of viewing scenery and walking in the urban forest on physiological relaxation of humans. The experiment was conducted in Hanbat Arboretum located in Daejeon, and the control experiment was conducted in front of Daejeon City Hall. The subjects that participated in the experiment comprised 24 Korean male university students in their 20s (average age, $21.1{\pm}2.5years$), participated in the experiment as the subject, and these subjects were classified into three groups divided into three locations such as the pine forest in Arboretum, the pond in Arboretum, and the city. The subjects sat down and viewed scenery for 10 min, and they then walked for 15 min. Further, physiological changes were measured using indicators such as heart rate variability (HRV), blood pressure, and pulse rate. As a result, when subjects viewed scenery and walked in the urban forest, a statistically significant increase in the high frequency (HF) power of HRV and decrease in systolic pressure was observed compared with when subjects viewed scenery and walked in the city. Through this research, it was found that activities like viewing scenery or walking in Arboretum of the city are effective in increasing the physiological relaxation of the city residents.

Innovative Method to Expand a Degree of Freedom of Observation in the Depth Direction without Losses of the Horizontal Number of Views in Autostereoscopic Multi-Views 3D Display System (시차장벽식 무안경 다시점 입체디스플레이 시스템에서 수평방향의 시점 수 저하 없이 깊이방향의 자유도를 증가시키기 위한 혁신적 방법)

  • An autostereoscopic multi-view 3D display system has the narrower degrees of freedom in the observational directions, such as the horizontal and perpendicular directions to the display plane, than the glasses-on type of 3D display. In this paper, we propose an innovative method to expand the width of the viewing zone formed in the depth direction while maintaining the number of views in the horizontal direction by using a triple segmented-slanted parallax barrier (TS-SPB) in the glasses-off type of 3D display. The validity of the proposal was verified by an optical simulation based on an environment similar to an actual case. The maximum number of views that can be displayed in the horizontal direction is 2n, and the width of the viewing zone with depth increased up to a factor of 3.36 compared to the existing one-layered parallax barrier system.

  • The success of the journey to the west of tvN's shows the positive prospect of web entertainment. This study highlights how viewers actively select web progrmas and how they diffuse the infomrmation of web programs to explore the possibility of success of web program and the change of viewing environment. This study revealed the attention of viewers affected the diffusion of programs via social media. The highness of the viewer's attention cause the highness of active interaction between users. The production company of web entertaninment has to focus on the high hits strategy. In the view of journalists, they covered on the appearance of the heroin rather than the content of the program. The relationship of viewing type and viral type via SNS is related with the activity of viewers. If viewers participate in viewing they express their opinion on the web entertainment actively.
