  • In this paper the instability of the system which has a disk and a mass-spring-damper system interacting through a medium having stiffness and damping is analyzed. To solve the equations of motion of this systme, it is assumed that the solution consists of the eigenfunctions which are the products of the Bessel functions and sine or cosine functions. The former represents the radial characteristics of the disk and the latter represents the circumferential characteristics. Using this assumed solution and the orthogonality of the eigenfunctions, the equations of motion can be transformed into a set of equations of motion with variables dependent only on the time. After this set is changed to the state equation, the eigenvalue problem can be made. Once the eigenvalues are calculated according to the angular velocity of the disk, the dynamic characteristics ofthis system is obtained. Because the thickness of the disk and the element characteristics of the mass-spring-damper system have important effects on the stability of the system, it will be understood how these factors affect the system and then a method to ameliorate the stability of the system with a disk will be presented.

  • Transponders of RFID system are classified as active or passive depending on the type of power supply they use. In passive transponders the data carrier has to obtain its power from the induced voltage. The induced voltage is converted into direct current using a low loss bridge rectifier and then smoothed. In practice, the induced voltage in the transponder coil is variable according to the coupling coefficient k and the load resistance ($R_L$). Therefore, the rectified voltage is unstable and the transponder of RFID is unstable sometimes. In this paper, a voltage-dependent shunt resistor ($R_s$) circuits are designed and inserted in parallel with the load resistance of RFID transponder in order to improve the stability of power.

Measurement errors consist of accuracy, linearity, stability, part precision, repeatability and reproducibility (R&R). First, the major content presents split-plot design, and the combination method of crossed and nested design for obtaining gage R&R. Second, we propose $\bar{x}-s$ variable control chart for calculating the gage R&R and number of distinct category. Lastly, investigating the determination of gage performance curve which establishes the control specification propagating calibration uncertainties and measurement errors is described.

  • This paper presents a novel control scheme for the three-dimensional (3D) path following of underactuated Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUVs) subject to unknown internal and external disturbances, in term of the time scale decomposition method. As illustration, two-time scale motions are first artificially forced into the closed-loop control system, by appropriately selecting the control gain of the integrator. Using the singular perturbation theory, the integrator is considered as a fast dynamical control law that designed to shape the space configuration of fast variable. And then the stabilizing controller is designed in the reduced model independently, based on the time scale decomposition method, leading to a relatively simple control law. The stability of the resultant closed-loop system is demonstrated by constructing a composite Lyapunov function. Finally, simulation results are provided to prove the efficacy of the proposed controller for path following of underactuated AUVs under internal and external disturbances.

  • This paper presents the effective and reliable speed control of PMDC motors under variable loads and reference speeds. As is known DC motors are more preferred in industrial practices. This is that, the PMDC motors don’t require brush and commutator care and to increase in torque per motor depending on developments in power electronics. In this study, proportional-integral controller (PI) and fuzzy logic controller (FL) have been designed for speed control of PMDC motor. In the design of these controllers, characteristics such as minimum overrun time, response time to the load, settling time and ideal rise time have been taken into consideration for better stability performance. In this design, the best system response was searched by examining the effect of different defuzzification methods onto the fuzzy logic system response. In conclusion, it has been seen that FL controller has a better performance for variable speed-load control of PMDC motor compared to PI controller.

  • In this paper, a wind-tunnel test is accomplished to investigate the roll characteristics of a variable-span wing flying inside a channel. The factors that affect the roll characteristics of the wing were identified by analyzing the measured data; accordingly, when the wing is flying without both the ground and sidewall effects, the asymmetric wing extension causes the roll moment. Both the ground and the sidewall can increase the roll moment, but when the wing is affected by both the ground and the sidewall, the roll moment does not increase as much as the case where the wing is only affected by the ground. Also, the aerodynamic characteristics of the flying wing inside a channel are the nonlinear function of the wing height and the gap between the wingtip and the sidewall, both of which should be considered in a study of the stability and the flight control of the wing-in-ground effect of the vehicle flying inside a channel.

  • Adaptive anti-sway and trajectory tracking control of overhead crane is presented, which utilizes Fuzzy Uncertainty Observer(FUO) and Fuzzy based Variable Structure Control(FVSC). We consider an overhead crane system which can be decoupled into the actuated and unactuated subsystems with its own lumped uncertainty such as parameter uncertainties and external disturbance. First, a new method for anti-sway control using FVSC is proposed to improve the conventional method based on Lyapunov direct method, while a conventional trajectory tracking control law using feedback linearization is directly adopted. Second, FUO is designed to estimate one of the two lumped uncertainties which can compensate both of them, based on the fact that two lumped uncertainties are coupled with each other. Then, an adaptive anti-sway control is proposed by incorporating the proposed FVSC and FUO. Under the condition that the observation error is Uniformly Ultimately Bounded(UUB) within an arbitrarily shrinkable region, the overall closed-loop system is shown to be Globally Uniformly Ultimately Bounded(GUUB). In addition, the Global Asymptotic Stability(GAS) of it is shown under the vanishing disturbance assumption. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed scheme has been confirmed by numerical simulations.

  • We propose a modified stochastic gradient-based (MSGB) filter showing that the filter is the solution to an optimization problem. This paper analyzes the properties of the MSGB filter that corresponds to the nonlinear adaptive filter with additional update terms, parameterized by the variable scaling factor. The variably parameterized MSGB filter plays a role iii connecting the fixed parameterized MSGB filter and the null parameterized MSGB filter through variably scaling parameter. The stability regions and misadjustments are shown. A system identification is utilized to perform the computer simulation and demonstrate the improved performance feature of the MSGB filter.

  • If an internal combustion engine is operated by consolidated control, the minimum fuel consumption is achieved and the demanded objectives are satisfied. For this, it is necessary that the engine is operated on the ideal operating line which satisfies minimum fuel consumption. In this context of view, there are many tries to achieve given object. However, the parameters in the internal combustion engines are variable and depend on the operating points. Therefore, it is necessary to cope with the uncertainties such that the optimal operating may be possible. From this point of view, this paper gives a controller design method and a robust stability condition for engine torque control which satisfies the given control performance and robust stability in the presence of physical parameter perturbation. Exactly, in this paper, we consider the robust stability problem of this 2DOF servosystem with nonlinear type uncertainty in the engine system, and a robust stability condition for the servosystem is shown. This result guarantees that if the plant uncertainty is in the permissible set defined by the given condition, then a gain tuning can be carried out to suppress the influence of the plant uncertainties.

  • In this paper, current control using PI controller in the synchronous reference frame is analyzed through the relationship among bandwidth, resonance frequency, and sampling frequency in the grid-connected inverter with LCL filter. Stability is investigated by using bode plot in frequency domain and root locus in discrete domain. The feedback variable is the grid current, which is regulated by the PI controller in the synchronous reference frame. System delay is modeled as 1.5Ts, which contains computational and PWM modulator delay. Two resonance frequencies are given at 815 Hz and 3.16 kHz from LCL filter parameters. Sufficient phase and gain margins can be obtained to guarantee stable current control, in case that resonance frequency is above one-sixth of the sampling frequency. Unstable current control is performed when resonance frequency is below one-sixth of the sampling frequency. Analysis results of stability from frequency response and discrete response is the same regardless of resonance frequency. Finally, stability of current control based on theoretical analysis is clearly verified through simulation and experiment in grid-connected inverters with LCL filter.
