공학교육에서 귀납법 추론을 위한 변수 통제 (Variable Control in Inductive Inference for Engineering Education)

  • 이 연구는 귀납법적 확증(confirmation)을 위해서 실행하는 실험이 확률론적 추론임을 밝히고 이의 단점을 보완하기 위해서 적용된 확률적 확인론에 따라서 수행하는 실험에서 통제하는 절차와 방법을 다루었다. 이 통제란 알려진 조건과 상황들을 인위적으로 조작하되 가설에서 명시된 특정조건(즉 독립변수) 이외의 조건(기타 변수)이 작용하여 현상이 발생(종속변수)될 가능성을 막는 것이다. 특정조건에 의하여 현상이 발생할 가능성을 극대화 시키고 기타 조건에 의하여 현상이 발생할 가능성을 최소화시키는 것이다. 그렇게 함으로써 특정 선행사건(독립변수)과 후행사건(종속변수) 사이의 진정한 인과관계성(the causal relationship)을 객관적으로 정확하게 추론하도록 보장하는 방법이 통제인 것이다. 이 연구에서는 변수통제에 대해 좀 더 구체적으로 다루기 위해 대표적인 헬스기구인 Elliptical Trainer (ET)와 Tread Mill (TM)를 이용한 실험에서 변수통제를 가하여 운동속도(독립변수)에 따른 에너지 소비량 변화(종속변수)와 운동속도(독립변수)에 따른 호흡교환율(RER)과 심장 박동율(HR)의 변화(종속변수)를 얻었다. 마지막으로 이 통제를 통해 얻어진 실험결과들을 그래프로 그려 그 결과에 따라 연구의 결론이 다루어졌다.

변탄성 스프링을 이용한 고정밀 직동형 릴리프 밸브 (High-Precision Direct-Operated Relief Valve with a Variable Elasticity Spring)

  • In this study, a variable elasticity spring was applied to improve the pressure control precision of conventional relief valves. The equilibrium equation of the forces acting on the valve poppet was derived; it is demonstrated that matching the elastic rate of the pressure-adjusting coil spring to the equivalent elastic rate of the flow force improved the pressure override. The procedures that were used to design the variable elasticity spring are presented, and some applications of the variable elasticity spring are also introduced. Computer simulations were used to analyze three cases: a poppet-closed flow force structure, a poppet-open flow force structure with a constant elasticity spring, and a structure containing a variable elasticity spring. It is confirmed that the pressure control precision of the relief valve can be significantly improved upon by applying a variable elasticity spring to the poppet-open flow force structure.

  • A new control scheme for the state space model of the robot system using the theory of optimal multi-variable structure is presented in this paper. It is proposed to optimize multi-dimensional variable structure systems for obtaining the required stabilizing signal by minimizing a performance index with respect to the state vector in the sliding mode. It is concluded the proposed variable structure controller yields better system dynamic performance than that obtained by using the only linear optimal controller inthat responses for a step disturbance have a shorter setting time, no matter what overshoot values and rising time.

형상기업합금을 이용한 유량제어밸브의 위치제어 적용 시뮬레이션 (A Simulation Study of Position Control Performance of a Shape Memory Alloy-Actuated Flow Control Valve)

  • In this study, a new type of flow control valve which is SMA actuated flow control valve is presented. The flow control valve is actuated by a small motion of shape memory alloy. The performance of this valve as a position control component is analyzed by computer simulation. A variable structure control technique is applied for the position control by the flow control valve. The position control performance of the valve is evaluated on the step responses of a PID control by a electrohydraulic servo valve. For the simulation study, first, the mathematical model of a hydraulic system, which is consisted of the flow control valve and a hydraulic cylinder, is formulated. This mathematical model and the designed variable structure control algorithm are then combined by the MATLAB software. The same sequence of work is carried out for the PID position control system with a electrohydraulic servo valve. The simulation results show the validity of the new type of flow control valve as a variable position control component.

  • In this paper, we propose a variable structure control approach for the system with matched and unmatched uncertainty. By using time-varying sliding mode, the reaching mode is removed, and the design methodology represents a realistic design approach with quadratic criterion for systems incorporating both matched and unmatched uncertainties. The criterion contains states and linear part of input for all time. The practical application of the control strategy is presented in the design of a stability augmentation system for an aircraft is presented.

  • Digital Variable Structure Controller(DVSC) is proposed to control variable speed recirculating pump for hot-water heating control system. In this study, nonlinear sliding line is used beyond output error boundary layer and PID sliding line is used within the layer. For long dead time compensation, constraint is added to Smith predictor algorithm. Steady state error is eliminated by using the proposed sliding line in spite of heating load change. By decreasing sampling time, good sliding motion is yielded but system output noise bv flow dynamics is amplified.

  • Control system of electric machine systems is often required to provide the good control performance even in the presence of various variable loads. In this study, time delay control technique is adopted to overcome such variable loads. Also, in this research a new approach of avoiding saturation by varying the reference model for the time delay control based systems subject to the step changes in reference inputs. These schemes are verified by applications to the position controls of the AC servo motor system and the engine throttle actuator.

  • In this paper, cone-valued Lyapunov functions are employed to study the impulsive control system with variable times. The stability criteria on the non-zero solution of the impulsive control system are given by the cone-valued Lyapunov functions and the results of the controllability on the control system are also obtained.

  • The reference model of an MRC (model reference control) provides the desired trajectory a plant should follow and thus the design of a reference model has a significant effect on control performance. In most control systems control input to a plant has some bounds and it is preferable to make use of as large control inputs as possible within the range of no saturation. In this paper a new approach of selecting the reference model is proposed for bounded control inputs. Design variables of the reference model are determined in such a way that maximizes the performance index within the range of no saturation. Moreover this variable reference model is regularly updated during control. This scheme is verified by application to the servo motor position control system in various simulations. The responses of the MRC with a variable reference model show better tracking performance than that with a fixed reference mode. Moreover by adjusting the update interval of the reference model the control performance can be further improved.

  • 통계적 공정관리 (statistical process control; SPC)와 자동공정관리 (automatic process control; APC)는 공정의 품질을 향상시키기 위하여 가장 널리 사용하는 방법이다. 이 두 종류의 관리절차는 서로 독립적으로 적용되고 연구되어져 왔지만, 현대의 생산 공정은 공정 자체가 복잡하고 혼합된 양상을 나타내기 때문에 두 관리절차를 병행하여 사용함으로써 관리효과를 증대시킬 수 있게 된다. 이와 같이 수정과 탐지를 동시에 사용하여 공정을 좀 더 효율적으로 관리하고자 하는 절차를 통합 공정관리 (integrated process control; IPC)라고 한다. IPC의 기본절차는 잡음이 내재하는 공정에 대하여 수정조치를 취하고, 이러한 수정활동 중 공정에 이상원인이 발생했는지 관리도를 통하여 이를 탐지하는 것이다. APC로 조정된 공정을 관리할 경우 일반적으로 출력변수를 관리통계량으로 사용하고 있으나, 입력변수를 관리통계량으로 사용하는 연구 결과들도 있다. 이 논문에서는 누적이동평균(integrated moving average; IMA) (1,1) 잡음모형과 최소평균제곱오차 (minimum mean square error; MMSE) 수정을 가정할 경우, 출력변수, 입력변수, 그리고 출력변수와 입력변수의 정보를 모두 이용하는, 즉 출력과 입력변수의 차이변수를 사용하는 절차의 효율을 비교하고 있다.
