  • This paper presents a method for detecting scene changes in video sequences, in which the $chi^{2}$-test is modified by imposing weights according to NTSC standard. To automatically determine threshold values for scene change detection, the proposed method utilizes the frame differences that are obtained by the weighted $chi^{2}$-test. In the first step, the mean and the standard deviation of the difference values are calculated, and then, we subtract the mean difference value from each difference value. In the next step, the same process is performed on the remained difference values, mean-subtracted frame differences, until the stopping criterion is satisfied. Finally, the threshold value for scene change detection is determined by the proposed automatic threshold estimation algorithm. The proposed method is tested on various video sources and, in the experimental results, it is shown that the proposed method is reliably estimates the thresholds and detects scene changes.

  • In order to protect secret digital documents against vulnerabilities while communicating, steganography algorithms are applied. It protects a digital file from unauthorized access by hiding the entire content. Pixel-value-difference being a method from spatial domain steganography utilizes the difference gap between neighbor pixels to fulfill the same. The proposed approach is a block-wise embedding process where blocks of variable size are chosen from the cover image, therefore, a stream of secret digital contents is hidden. Least significant bit (LSB) substitution method is applied as an adaptive mechanism and optimal pixel adjustment process (OPAP) is used to minimize the error rate. The proposed application succeeds to maintain good hiding capacity and better signal-to-noise ratio when compared against other existing methods. Any means of digital communication specially e-Governance applications could be highly benefited from this approach.

  • The author measured the maximum interincisal distance by means of the sliding caliper. The subjects measured here were 149 healthy Korean males and 229 females, ranging from 15 to 49 years old, with normal occlusion. The results were as follows; 1. The mean value of maximum interincisal distance was $50.03{\pm}0.22mm$. in male and $45.18{\pm}0.14mm$. in female. 2. There was a significant difference in the mean value between male female. 3. The interincisal distances in maximum opening were slightly larger in male than female. 4. There was no significant difference in the mean value between the age groups in Korean adults. But it has been revealed that there was apparent difference in the mean value between 15~19 years and 20~29 years old, in female. 5. It has been appeared that maximum interincisal distance in male was 69mm, minimum 37mm., and maximum interincisal distance in female was 58mm. minimum. 30mm.

  • In this paper, a fifth order numerical method is presented for solving singularly perturbed two point boundary value problems with a boundary layer at one end point. The two point boundary value problem is transformed into general first order ordinary differential equation system. A discrete approximation of a fifth order compact difference scheme is presented for the first order system. An asymptotically equivalent first order equation of the original singularly perturbed two point boundary value problem is obtained from the theory of singular perturbations. It is used in the fifth order compact difference scheme to get a two term recurrence relation and is solved. Several linear and non-linear singular perturbation problems have been solved and the numerical results are presented to support the theory. It is observed that the present method approximates the exact solution very well.

  • The partial distortion elimination (PDE) scheme is used to decrease the sum of absolute difference (SAD) computational complexity, since the SAD calculation has been taken much potion of the video compression. In motion estimation (ME) based on PDE, it is ideal that the initial value of SAD in summing performance has large value. The traditional scan order methods have many operation time and high operational complexity because these adopted the division or multiplication. In this paper, we introduce the new scan order and search order by using only adder. We define the average value which is called to rough average value (RAVR). Which is to reduce the computational complexity and increase the operational speed and then we can obtain the improvement of SAD performance. And also this RAVR is used to decide the search order sequence, since the difference RAVR between the current block and candidate block is small then this candidate block has high probability to suitable candidate. Thus, our proposed algorithm combines above two main concepts and suffers the improving SAD performance and the easy hardware implementation methods.

  • In this paper, we propose a method to detect concept drift by applying Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) in a data stream environment. Since the conventional method compares only the final output value of the CNN and detects it as a concept drift if there is a difference, there is a problem in that the actual input value of the data stream reacts sensitively even if there is no significant difference and is incorrectly detected as a concept drift. Therefore, in this paper, in order to reduce such errors, not only the output value of CNN but also the probability vector are used. First, the data entered into the data stream is patterned to learn from the neural network model, and the difference between the output value and probability vector of the current data and the historical data of these learned neural network models is compared to detect the concept drift. The proposed method confirmed that only CNN output values could be used to reduce detection errors compared to how concept drift were detected.

  • Recently, the value of intellectual property rights including patents has been estimated for various purposes. In particular, the evaluation of loans, guarantees and collateral through patent valuation is increasing with the revitalization of technology financing. Although various studies have been conducted on patent valuation, little research has been done on the adequacy of patent valuation. In this study, using the DCF model, which is the most commonly used method of technology valuation, we examine the appropriateness of the patent valuation by comparing and analyzing the estimated value and actual value of the patent. An empirical result shows that the difference between estimated value and the actual value is statistically significant, and there is a significant difference between the estimated value and the actual value depending on the classification of evaluation work. In addition, while there is no difference between professors, patent attorneys, and researchers in the analysis of value differences according to technical evaluators, there is a significant difference between patent attorneys and other evaluators. Finally, we find a significant value difference between estimated value and actual value of technology subject to evaluation by industry.

  • This Paper Propose a robust scene change detection technique that use the weighted chi-square test and the automated threshold-decision algorithm. The weighted chi-test can subdivide the difference values of individual color channels by calculating the color intensities according to mSC standard, and it can detect the scene change by joining the weighted color intensities to the predefined chi-test which emphasize the comparative color difference values. The automated decision algorithm uses the difference values of frame-to-frame that was obtained by the weighted chi-test. In the first step, The average of total difference value and standard deviation value is calculated and then, subtract the mean value from the each difference values. In the next step, the same process is performed on the remained difference value. The propose method is tested on various sources and in the experimental results, it is shown that the Proposed method is efficiently estimates the thresholds and reliably detects scene changes.
