Leveraging Accumulated Customer Knowledge in Electronic Knowledge Repositories for Superior Customer Service

  • Customers are now demanding ever better service from customer service representatives (CSRs) to create superior customer service. Accordingly, CSRs are required to have more specialized knowledge and abilities of customer service. This study examines the roles of accumulated customer knowledge in electronic knowledge repositories (EKRs), which a firm has developed for customer service over time to enhance CSRs' work capabilities and work performance, in the context of call centers. To test the proposed research model and hypotheses, we conducted LISREL analysis using 261 responses collected on CSRs working for inbound call centers. The key results are as follows. First, accumulated customer knowledge in EKRs enhances CSRs' knowledge utilization and service expertise during the customer contact. Second, CSRs' knowledge utilization reinforces service expertise. Finally, service quality depends on CSRs' knowledge utilization and service expertise, but it is not directly related to accumulated customer knowledge. Overall, the findings suggest that accumulated customer knowledge in EKRs enhances CSRs' knowledge utilization and service expertise, and thereby leading to superior service quality.

Retail Fashion Buyers' Utilization of Information Source in Dongdaemum Market (동대문 시장을 이용하는 리테일 바이어의 경력 및 소속업체 연매출에 따른 정보원 활용)

  • The purposes of this study were to explore differences in utilization of information sources depending on the length of buyers' career and annual sales volume of stores where buyers work for. The questionnaire was prepared by the researcher and was answered by 200 buyers who purchase their items from Dondaemun market. The researcher analyzed the data using both ANOVA and Tukey's test as a post-hoc test. The conclusion of this study is summarized below. First, there were significant differences in utilization of information sources among buyer groups depending on the length of buyers' career. The buyers with more than 10 years career showed more effective utilization of information source such as resident buying offices, manufacturers, trade publications, trade associations, fashion reports, celebrities, window shopping, professional magazines, and advice from others. Second, there were significant differences in utilization of information sources among buyer groups depending on annual sales volume of the stores where the buyers work for. The buyer who work for the store with its annual sales volume in excess of 2 billion won showed more effective utilization of information source such as trade association, professional magazines, sales record, want slips, advertising results, sales trends, customer surveys, sales meetings, customer advisory panel, in-store merchandising bureau and advice from other experienced buyers. However, buyers of the store with its annual sales volume lower than 100 million won showed different pattern utilization of information sources such as vendors, trade publication, celebrities and advice from others.

  • This study empirically verified the effect of enterprise SNS usage on communication and work performance and the effect of communication on work performance for corporate employees. To accomplish the purpose of this study, we proposed a research model, set up research hypotheses, and verified the hypotheses based on previous studies. For this study, we surveyed the employees of manufacturing companies located at Ulsan city. The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, the use of enterprise SNS has a significant effect on communication. Second, communication has a significant effect on work performance. Third, the use of enterprise SNS has a significant effect on work performance. Through the results of this study, it can be confirmed that the introduction and utilization of enterprise SNS suitable for enterprises leads to the satisfaction of employees' communication and improvement of the work performance.

Dental care utilization patterns and its related factors of industrial workers (산업장 근로자의 치과의료이용양상 및 관련요인)

  • Objectives : This purpose of this study was to examine worker's Dental care utilization patterns and its related factors, to prepare basic data for oral health promotion of workers. Methods : The study subject were 1016 industrial workers from7 working places in Gyung-Sang-Buk Do and Daegu-City. Data for this study was obtained by self-administrated questionnaire. The questionnaire consists of general characteristics, yes or no of dental care utilization before six month, purpose of visit, yes or no of dental disease form the results of dental examination screening before one years, yes or no of and patterns dental care utilization of workers with dental disease, etc. The data was utilized using frequency test and $x^2-test$. Results : Rate of dental care utilization was 40% within six month last, among the general characteristics, it were statistically significant that higher age, married state, bad oral health state, high Work period. Rate of dental disease as a result of their dental examination last was 53.1% among the general characteristics, it were statistically significant that enough economic state, bad oral health state, blue collar work type. Dental care utilization's rate of dental disease as a result of their dental examination last was 48.6% among the general characteristics, it were statistically significant that Enough economic state, higher age, married state, high Work period. Conclusions : In order to promote workers of abnormal opinions to take the medical treatment on their dental diseases later dental examination, it is necessary to educate them consistently for the importance of early medical treatment.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between smart factory utilization and continued use intention between UTAUT, dynamic capabilities of smart factory construction companies and present the company's strategic direction. Research design, data, and methodology: In this study, a structured research model was derived to confirm the relationship between UTAUT, dynamic capabilities, smart factory utilization and continued use intention and the difference according to Technology perception. For analysis a total of 223 valid questionnaires from e-commerce users were used. Confirmatory factor analysis, correlation analysis, and structural equations were conducted to verify. Results: Both UTAUT, dynamic capabilities had a significant effect on smart factory utilization as well as continued use intention. It was found that the relationship between UTAUT, dynamic capabilities, smart factory utilization, and continued use intention. differed depending on the technology perception. Conclusions: Organizational members utilize the smart factory in anticipation of effects such as work performance and various improvements. Smart factory data will be used continuously when it is useful for business processes and operations. It is necessary to establish strategies and provide training to improve the technical level and capabilities of organizational members. Through this, a strategy is needed that can be continuously used by utilizing the information obtained through smart factory to improve work efficiency, productivity and efficiency increase is needed

Utilization of Computer System for Outpatient's Dispensing Affairs in Hospital Pharmacy (병원약국의 외래조제업무에 대한 컴퓨터의 이용)

  • Hospital pharmacy services are divided into dispensing affairs for inpatients and outpatients, pharmaceutical service, stock control, intravenous admixture service, drug information service, pharmacokinetic consultation service, education and research work, etc. But among those affairs, dispensing affair for outpatient is perceived as the most important work in Korea, because it is linked directly with hospital service for patients. Therefore, total computer system for dispensing area was adopted from opening point of hospital in 1989 in Asan Medical Center. Utilization of computer system for outpatient dispensing area is as follows; 1) Order communication system of prescription by Total Hospital Information System, 2) Automatic print-out system of direction for use by sticker connected with on-line net work, 3) Use of automatic tablet counting and packaging machines connected with on-line net work. Those computer system resulted in curtailment of pharmacy manpower and shortening of waiting-time for outpatient.

Utilization Model for HCCA EDCA Mixed Mode in IEEE 802.11e

  • This letter proposes an analytical model to characterize medium utilization in IEEE 802.11e operating in HCCA-EDCA mixed mode (HEMM). In contrast to existing works which model the backoff process in individual stations, we consider the channel occupancy pattern. Additionally, our work considers the operation of HEMM, which is not widely documented. We show that the proposed model accurately characterizes medium utilization with no more than 5% error.

  • Recently, many organizations are actively adopting VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure), an IT-based business system, to build a non-face-to-face business environment for smart-work. However, most of the existing research on VDI has focused on the satisfaction of system service quality or the use of IT resources and investment for VDI introduction. However, research on effective management and utilization of factors according to the characteristics of VDI technology is urgently required. This study is an empirical research study on how VDI technology characteristics affect interactions and work performance by identifying differences in utilization factors between general organization members and IT managers, presenting standards for business utilization and management. This study proposed a model and hypothesis that the system technology characteristics for VDI use are mediated by interactions in which users respond to functions appropriate to their work. In order to verify the hypothesis, a questionnaire survey was conducted on 188 people of companies and institutions that have adopted and used VDI through a questionnaire survey. Data analysis was performed with partial least squares (PLS), a structural equation modeling (SEM) technique that uses a component-based approach to estimation. As a result of the empirical analysis, the same environmental function for performing work, N-th security, and remote access function factors for non-face-to-face work have a significant effect on interactivity, and IT managers have an additional significant effect on the management technology characteristics of resource reallocation. Has been shown to affect. The results of this study aim to minimize trial and error due to new introduction by presenting considerations for future VDI introduction through case analysis.

The Effects of Childcare Centers Accreditation on Teachers' Utilization of Activity Materials and Interaction with Children (보육시설 평가인증이 보육교사의 보육활동 자료활용 및 유아와의 상호작용에 미치는 영향)

  • Recently, many childcare centers have actively participated in assessment accreditation. 115 teachers who did participate or did not participate in the accreditation process completed a structured questionnaire, We examined differences between teachers in accredited centers and in non-accredited centers in terms of their individual characteristics, work environment, the utilization of activity materials and the interaction with children. In addition, using the regression model, we analyzed the effects of several characteristics of teachers and childcare center's accreditation on the utilization of activity materials as well as the interactions between teachers and children. The main results of this study are as follows. First, overall, the level of work environment of non-accredited centers was lower than that of accredited centers. Second, compared with teachers in non-accredited centers, teachers in accredited centers used more and higher levels of activity materials, and demonstrated a higher level of interactions with children. Third, including accreditation, use of helpers had a significant effect on the interactions between teacher and children. Forth, not only the accreditation system, but also work hours, work experience, children's age and use of helpers had a significant effect on using materials in childcare activities. Conclusively, understanding the experience of teachers in accredited centers is important hi terms of facilitating the quality of activities and the interactions with children.

  • This study examines the effects of transformational leadership on helping behavior for the secretary workers. We also demonstrate comprehensively the moderating effects of job resources(LMX) and job demands(utilization of mobile devices after work) on the relationship between transformational leadership and helping behavior. The results of this study targeted 140 incumbent secretaries are as follows: First, transformational leadership has a significant positive effect on the helping behaviors of members. Second, the interaction effect of LMX(synergistic effect) was verified in the positive relationship between transformational leadership and helping behavior. Finally, interaction effects of utilization of mobile devices after work(buffering effect) were confirmed in the relationship between transformational leadership and helping behavior. The results of this study are that transformational leadership of middle managers is important to strengthen worker's helping behavior, but it is also important to understand the contextual factors such as social support(LMX) and work environment(utilization of mobile devices after work) that affect the will and autonomy of members in accepting leadership. Finally, we suggest the theoretical and practical implications of this study, present limitations and future research directions.
