MoO3 Morphology 변화가 수소 Spillover에 미치는 영향 (Effect of MoO3 Morphological Change over Hydrogen Spillover Kinetics)

  • 함침법에 의하여 제조된 $Pt/MoO_3$$Pt/MoO_3/SiO_2$$Pt^{\circ}$$MoO_3$를 기계적으로 혼합한 촉매를 사용한 $50^{\circ}C$ 등온 환원 실험에서 소성 온도가 증가할수록, $H_2$ spillover에 의하여 Pt로부터 $MoO_3$로 이동하여 저장되는 $H_2$가 증가하는 것을 측정하였다. 연속적으로 실행한 CO chemisorption에 의하여 $H_2$ spillover에 참가하는 $H_2$에 노출된 Pt 표면적이 감소하는 것을 알 수 있었다. 또한, TEM 결과로부터 $400^{\circ}C$에서 소성 후 Pt결정 표면에 $MoO_x$ overlayer가 형성되는 것을 관찰하였다. 그러므로, 표면 형상 변화에 따른 Pt과 $MoO_3$간의 활성접촉점 증가가 $H_2$ spillover에 의한 $MoO_3$로의 $H_2$ 이동을 증가시키는 원인 중의 하나인 것으로 판명된다.

Mammary Performance of First Lactation Bali Cows (Bibos banteng) Fed Grass-Legume Based Diets in Relation to the Role of Glucose

  • A study of mammary function in relation to glucose metabolism of first lactation Bali cows on grass-legume diets was carried out using 12 primiparous cows (initial BW $263.79{\pm}21.66kg$) for 16 weeks starting immediately post calving. The animals were randomly allocated into 4 dietary treatment groups R1, R2, R3 and R4, receiving from the last 2 months of pregnancy onwards, rations based on a mixture of locally available grass and legume feed ad libitum. On a DM basis R1 contained 70% elephant grass (PP, Penicetum purpureum) plus 30% Gliricidia sepia leaves (GS), R2 was 30% PP plus 25% GS supplemented with 55% Hibiscus tilliacius leaves (HT, defaunating effect), R3 and R4 were 22.5% PP+41.25% GS+11.25% HT+25% concentrate, with R4 supplemented with zinc-diacetate. TDN, CP and zinc contents of the diets were 58.2%, 12.05% and 18.3 mg/kg respectively for R1, 65.05%, 16.9% and 25.6 mg/kg respectively for R2, 66.03%, 16.71% and 29.02 mg/kg respectively for R3 and 66.03%, 16.71% and 60.47 mg/kg respectively for R4. Milk production and body weights were monitored, an energy and protein balance trial conducted, overall glucose kinetics parameters assessed, mammary blood flow (MBF) and metabolite arteriovenous differences (${\Delta}AVs$) measured to get uptake data and mammary performance relationships. Parameters of glucose kinetics at peak lactation or during dry condition were not affected by ration quality. Glucose pool size, space of distribution and flux increased by 61.77, 62.26 and 82.08%, respectively, during lactation compared to the dry period. Mean glucose flux of lactating Bali cows was $5.52mg/min.kgBW^{0.807}$ which resembles the range of values of temperate dairy cows. Calculation showed that glucose requirements for maintenance, milk lactose and fat-glycerol synthesis, and the formation of NADPH reached 461.69 g for a yield of 1 kg/d or equal to 320.62 mg/min, which was less than the average glucose flux of lactating Bali cows of 481.35 mg/min. Mammary blood flow (MBF) values ranged from 56 to 83 l/h for the different treatments and the ratio MBF per kg milk produced improved from av. 1540 l/kg for R1 to av. 967 l/kg for R4 treated cows. Mammary glucose uptake ranged from 6.27 to 12.03 g/h or 120 to 140 g/kg milk. Glucose uptake was mass-wise 2 to 4 times the amount secreted as lactose, which indicated values less than the calculated mammary glucose needs and that little lactose was synthesized. The excess glucose taken-up was used for other metabolic processes. Linear relationships between metabolite ${\Delta}AVs$ and arterial blood plasma concentration [A] showed that in Bali cows triglycerides (TG), phenylalanine (Phe) and tyrosine (Tyr) have high coefficients of determination, i.e. 0.77, 0.81 and 0.69, respectively. For glucose, the relationship is quadratic with an $R^2$ value of 0.49. It was concluded that lactose synthesis was inadequate, which led to a speculation that milk yield could be improved by increased lactose synthesis.

폐수 내 인 흡착 제거를 위한 제강슬래그와 활성탄 비교 (Comparison of Steel Slag and Activated Carbon for Phosphate Removal from Aqueous Solution by Adsorption)

  • 본 연구에서는 제강슬래그와 활성탄의 수중의 인 제거 효율을 비교하였다. 제강슬래그는 0.5~2.0 g/200 mL, 활성탄은 3.0~6.0 g/200 mL를 주입하여 흡착실험을 진행하였다. 제강슬래그의 양에 따른 제거 효율은 60분의 실험 결과 47~99%, 활성탄은 240분의 실험 결과 81~98%를 보였다. 흡착등온식을 적용하였을 때 Langmuir식에 더 적합하였으며 제강슬래그와 활성탄의 흡착능력을 비교하였을 때, 이론적 최대흡착량($Q_0$)은 제강슬래그에서 91 mg/g, 활성탄에서 27 mg/g으로 나타났다. 또한 반응속도는 유사 2차식을 따르며 속도상수($k_2$)는 제강슬래그에서 0.023~0.136 g/mg.min, 활성탄에서 0.025~0.122 g/mg.min으로 나타났고, 평형에서의 흡착량($q_e$)은 제강슬래그가 10.8~18.4 mg/g, 활성탄은 3.30~5.49 mg/g로 나타났다. pH의 경우 초기 pH 2에서 제강슬래그와 활성탄 모두 가장 높은 인 제거효율을 나타내었다. 따라서 폐수 내 인 제거 면에서 제강슬래그가 활성탄에 비해 우수하였다.

레피도크로사이트(lepidocrocite) 표면의 비소 흡착 특성 규명 (Study on Adsorption Features of Arsenic onto Lepidocrocite)

  • 합성된 레피도크로사이트(lepidocrocite)에 대한 비소의 흡착특성을 규명하기 위하여 체계적인 연구를 수행하였다. 본 연구에서 합성된 레피도크로사이트는 $94.8\;g/m^2$의 큰 비표면적을 가졌으며, 전위차 적정법(potentiometric titration)에 의해 측정된 영전하점(point of zero charge, PZC)은 6.57로 나타났는데, 레피도크로사이트의 비소에 대한 높은 제거능은 이러한 특성들에 기인한 것으로 판단된다. pH $2.0{\sim}12$ 범위에서 3가(아비산염 형태) 비소가 5가(비산염 형태) 비소보다 합성된 레피도크로사이트에 대한 흡착력이 크게 나타나서 3가 비소가 5가 비소보다 레피도크로사이트에 대한 친화력이 더 크다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 5가 비소의 흡착은 pH가 2.0에서 12까지 증가하면서 지속적으로 감소한 반면, 3가 비소는 pH가 8.0까지 증가할 때까지는 흡착도 증가하다가 그 이후의 높은 pH조건에서는 흡착이 급격히 감소하는 것으로 조사되었다. 이는 pH에 따라서 레피도크로사이트의 표면전하 특성과 두 비소 종의 존재형태가 변화하기 때문인 것으로 판단된다. 흡착 반응속도에 대한 실험 결과에 의하면, 두 비소 종 모두 4시간 이내에 빠르게 흡착이 완료되는 것으로 나타났는데, 이러한 결과는 레피도크로사이트에 의한 비소의 제거는 주로 흡착반응 이라는 것을 입증한다. 이와 더불어 본 연구결과는 power function과 elovich 모델이 레피도크로사이트에 대한 두 비소 화학종의 흡착반응속도를 모사하는데 가장 적합한 것으로 조사되었다.

Expression of Folate Receptor Protein in CHO Cell Line

  • One of cell surface receptor proteins, human folate receptor (hFR) involves in the uptake of folates through cell membrane into cytoplasm, and is anchored to the plasma membrane by a fatty acid linkage, which has been identified in some cells as a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-tailed protein with a molecular mass of about 40 kDa. The hFR is released by phosphatidylinositol phospholipase C (PI-PLC) because it contains fatty acids and inositol on the GPI tail. Caveolin decorates the cytoplasmic surface of caveolae and has been proposed to have a structural role in maintaining caveolae. It is unknown whether caveolin is involved in targeting, and is necessary for the function of GPI-tailed proteins. To compare the ability of folic acid binding, internalization and expression of hFR, and the effect of caveolin at the both apical and basolateral side of cell surfaces in Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) clone cells overexpressed the hFR and/or caveolin. Our present results suggest a possibility that the overexpression of caveolin does not be involved in expression of hFR, but plays a role as a factor in PI-PLC releasing kinetics, and for a regulation of formation, processing and function of hFR in CHO clone cells overexpressed cavcolin.

Putrescine Transport in a Cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

  • The transport of putrescine into a moderately salt tolerant cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803 was characterized by measuring the uptake of radioactively-labeled putrescine. Putrescine transport showed saturation kinetics with an apparent $K_m$ of $92{\pm}10\;{\mu}M$ and $V_{max}$ of $0.33{\pm}0.05\;nmol/min/mg$ protein. The transport of putrescine was pH-dependent with highest activity at pH 7.0. Strong inhibition of putrescine transport was caused by spermine and spermidine whereas only slight inhibition was observed by the addition of various amino acids. These results suggest that the transport system in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803 is highly specific for polyamines. Putrescine transport is energy-dependent as evidenced by the inhibition by various metabolic inhibitors and ionophores. Slow growth was observed in cells grown under salt stress. Addition of low concentration of putrescine could restore growth almost to the level observed in the absence of salt stress. Upshift of the external osmolality generated by either NaCl or sorbitol caused an increased putrescine transport with an optimum 2-fold increase at 20 mosmol/kg. The stimulation of putrescine transport mediated by osmotic upshift was abolished in chloramphenicol-treated cells, suggesting possible involvement of an inducible transport system.

Synthesis and characterization of silicone-containing polyamideimide and its gas separation

  • 1. INTRODUCTION : Polyimides containing siloxane moiety(poly(imide siloxane), or polysiloxaneimide) have been synthesized because of their some merits over polyimide itseft. Polyimides have excellent thermal and mechanical properties but their poor solubility and processibility in their fullly imidized form give disadvantages in applications. Incorporation of siloxane units make it possible to increase solubility and processibility, and also impart impact resistance, low moisture uptake, low dielectric constant, thermo-oxidative resistance, good adhesion properties to substrate and etc.. Incorporation methods of siloxane groups into the polyimide was mainly copolymerization or terpolymerization between oligomeric dimethylsiloxane and aromatic dianhydride. A few methods of introducing siloxane units in functional groups of polyimide was reported. In our laboratory poly(amideimide siloxane) and poly(imide siloxane) were prepared and the study about their thermal kinetics was performed. In separation membrane area, polysiloxaneimides was utilized in pervaporation and gas separation. Polyimides in gas separation show high selectivity and very low permeability, and introduction of siloxane segments increase permeability with low decrease in selectivity. We aimed to introduce silicone segments into poly(amic acid) state and synthesize polymer partially imidized, and also show the gas separation characteristics of the synthesized polymer.

Pt/$MoO_3$ 촉매에서 $MoO_3$ 상변화가 수소 spillover에 미치는 효과 (Effect of Phase Change of $MoO_3$ on $H_2$ Spillover Kinetics over Pt/$MoO_3$)

  • 수소가 Pt/$MoO_3$로 흡장되는 현상을 XRD, TEM, CO 화학흡착 분석방법을 사용하여 조사하였다. 소성과정은 Pt/$MoO_3$ 촉매의 Chlorine 함유량을 감소하며 박막을 형성하였다. 소성전과 비교하여 수소 흡장량은 소성 후에 증가하였다. Orthorhombic Pt/$MoO_3$은 Hexagonal Pt/$MoO_3$보다 항상 수소 흡장량이 증가하였다. 상대적으로 Hexagonal Pt/$MoO_3$에서 수소 흡장량이 감소하는 이유는 Hexagonal 결정격자 내에 존재하는 $NH_4^+$ 이온에 기인하는 것으로 판단된다. 결정격자 내부로의 수소 침투시 암모니움 이온이 수소내부 기공에 장애물 역할을 하므로, 수소 흡장량이 감소하는 것으로 판단된다.

호흡율 측정기를 이용한 폐수처리 공정수의 생물학적 활성측정

  • 본 연구에서는 활성슬러지법으로 처리하는 제약폐수를 대상으로 공정내 미생물의 산소소모량을 측정하고 미생물의 증식정도를 알아보기 위해 동력학 계수를 측정하였다. 미생물 접종량에 따른 산소소모율은 $43{\sim}64\;mgO_2/hr$이었고, 기질 농도 변화에 따른 산소소모율은 $4{\sim}42\;mgO_2/L/hr$로 나타났다. 또한 최대비성장율$(\;{\mu}\;_{max})$, 수율계수, 그리고 반속도상수(Ks)는 각각 $2.7day^{-1}$, 0.655, 36.11 mg/L로 측정되었다.

Removal of Toxic Pollutants from Aqueous Solutions by Adsorption onto Organo-kaolin

  • In this study, the adsorption of toxic pollutants onto cetyltrimethylammonium kaolin (CTAB-Kaolin) is investigated. The organo-kaolin is synthesized by exchanging cetyltrimethylammonium cations (CTAB) with inorganic ions on the surface of kaolin. The chemical analysis, the structural and textural properties of kaolin and CTAB-kaolin were investigated using elemental analysis, FTIR, SEM and adsorption of nitrogen at $-196^{\circ}C$. The kinetic adsorption and adsorption capacity of the organo-kaolin towards o-xylene, phenol and Cu(II) ion from aqueous solution was investigated. The kinetic adsorption data of o-xylene, phenol and Cu(II) are in agreement with a second order model. The equilibrium adsorption data were found to fit Langmuir equation. The uptake of o-xylene and phenol from their aqueous solution by kaolin, CTAB-kaolin and activated carbon proceed via physisorption. The removal of Cu(II) ion from water depends on the surface properties of the adsorbent. Onto kaolin, the Cu(II) ions are adsorbed through cation exchange with $Na^+$. For CTAB-kaolin, Cu(II) ions are mainly adsorbed via electrostatic attraction with the counter ions in the electric double layer ($Br^-$), via ion pairing, Cu(II) ions removal by the activated carbon is probably related to the carbon-oxygen groups particularly those of acid type. The adsorption capacities of CTAB-kaolin for the investigated adsorbates are considerably higher compared with those of unmodified kaolin. However, the adsorption capacities of the activated carbons are by far higher than those determined for CTAB-kaolin.
