Purpose: This study sought to analyze perceptions and attitudes regarding patient personal information protection according to the general characteristics of paramedic students and their clinical practice experience. Methods: A total of 215 paramedic students from G university in I metropolitan city and D university in G do were surveyed. Frequency analysis, percentage analysis, and one-way distribution analysis were conducted using the software SPSS version 23.0. Results: First, recognition regarding the operation of laws and systems related to medical law and personal information protection was high among students who had no clinical practice experience, and there were no differences with regard to students' general characteristics. Second, the level of recognition regarding patient personal information protection and exposure did not differ depending on students' general characteristics and clinical practice experience. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, students' recognition and attitude should be improved by carrying out continuous education on patient personal information protection. Furthermore, more specialized and systematic training related to patient personal information protection should be conducted to nurture appropriately trained paramedic students.
Purpose: This study was conducted to evaluate the relationship between self-control behavior, social comparison attitude, self-efficacy and health promotion activities of college students who had health related majors (nursing, dental hygiene, health administration). Methods: The subjects consisted of 413 college students. Data were collected by self reported questionnaires that were designed to evaluate self-control behavior, social attitudes, self-efficacy and health promotion lifestyle (HPLP). Data were analyzed using the SPSS/PC win 14.0 program. Results: Upward & parallel comparison, self-efficacy and parents income were positively correlated with health promotion activities by college students. The most significant predictors of health promotion activities for college students were self-efficacy and self-control behavior. Conclusion: Health promotion activities for college students are influenced by self-efficacy, self-control behavior, and upward comparison. In conclusion, to increase the health promotion activities of college students, methods designed to increase self-efficacy should be prepared while considering the self-control behavior and comparative propensity towards others.
The purpose of this study was to survey several aspects of health and food related behavior of college students in Wonju area. Questionnaires were delivered personally to 430 students. The 37.9% of subjects were self-boarded and 27.4% lived in their home in Wonju area. They spend 230,000 won in average per month. Male students spent money more than female students and self-boarding students spent money more than other residental type students. The 90% of subjects thought they were healthy and the 25% of subjects exercised regularly. The subjects self-recognized their body as fat were more concerning about their weight control and had more weight control experience. SeIf-boarding students tended to skip their meals and had unbalanced diet. Students who lived in dormitory tended to skip meal less. Female students showed higher scores at balanced diet, snack intake, and left meal than male students. Self recognized their body as medium showed lower scores at overeating and eating irregularly. The amount of consumption of carbonated beverage was the highest among several instant foods. The frequencies of intake of those instant foods were different by gender, residental types, and eating behaviors.
The purpose of this study was conducted to improve middle school students' satisfaction on their uniform to provide basic information for the wearing condition. on their comfortable uniform. Survey was conducted on 532 boys' and girls' middle school students in Iksan City. This study analyzed the purchasing factors and modification, fitting evaluation, and satisfaction of comfortable uniform aspect of students. It was the questionnaire consisted of 18 questions in total. The results are as follows : First, boys' middle school students preferred 'activity' among the purchasing factors. Girls' middle school students preferred 'design' and 'activity' among the purchasing factors. Second, in purchasing types, boys' students bought the type of cooperative purchasing and the type of the school uniform special shop in girls' students. Third, 51.0% of the students interviewed have experienced to modify their uniforms. Since the non fashionable design and non suitable uniform length caused the students to modify their uniform. Also students did not satisfy the color and design in their comfortable uniforms. Thus school uniform maker should make that consider movement, color, design, functional elements and changing students' aesthetic sense.
In this study, the scientifically gifted students and the general students were compared in terms of the following components in cooperative teaming: whom they interacted with, to/from whom they gave/received help and why, and what kinds of the verbal interaction patterns they engaged in. The subjects were 4th graders. The data were collected through the investigation of the students' perception and videotaping of the small group interactions of each group. The results showed that the gifted students interacted with most students in their groups. They complemented each others' opinions and their discussion was enriched through their interactions. On the other hand, the interactions of the general students occurred mostly around a leader, and more teamed students explained the content to the less teamed students. Predominantly, the gifted students' most verbal behaviors were related with the teaming contents. Most frequent verbal behavior were a giving specific information and an explanation of their opinions. The general students, however, gave simple and short information, and more often they showed the management behaviors, such as encouraging participation and suggesting their directions.
Objectives The purpose of this research is to study the Psychological Characteristics of Korean Medical Students focusing on the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-2 and the Beck Depression Inventory.Methods The survey was conducted on 101 Korean Medicine Students to investigate psychological characteristics focusing on the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-2 and the Beck Depression Inventory.Results 29.7% of students scored more than 10 points in the Beck Depression Inventory. Students with depression according to the Beck Depression Inventory showed the higher scores in the Pd, Si, RC4, WRK, FAM, Mt and MDS scales as compared to the students without depression tendencies (p<.05). Students with depression according to the Beck Depression Inventory showed the higher scores in the Pt, RC7, ANX, A and PK scales as compared to the students without depressive tendencies (p<.05).Conclusions Students with depressive tendencies seem to have more difficulty adjusting socially compared to students without depressive tendencies. In addition, students with depressive tendencies will likely have other psychological problems compared to the students without depressive tendencies.
The purpose of this study was to identify differences in the report assessment patterns of international undergraduate students and instructors. Based on two sample reports, the following differences were confirmed between international students and instructors' assessments of reports. First, instructors and students showed no differences in their assessments of the well-formatted report. However, the two groups exhibited differences in their assessments of the report that was not well formatted in that students evaluated the report more highly than instructors did. Second, instructors and students exhibited notable differences in their assessments of items such as citation, logic, and expression. This may have been because students lacked knowledge on citation methods and the use of grounds for arguments based on citation methods and topics. Third, students and instructors showed differences in their areas of focus when evaluating reports. Instructors mostly focused on the main topics of each report, whereas students focused on supporting details for the main topics. Based on these findings, instructors need to emphasize the following areas in educating international undergraduate students on report writing. First, they should stress proper source citation. They should provide frequent guidance on how to accurately cite sources. Second, they should help students to first think about the overall form and content of their reports. Instructors should emphasize that having a logical overall report structure and content that is relevant to the subject is more important in general than grammar or accuracy of vocabulary.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the self-perceptions of the elementary school students' on the affective, behavioral and cognitive domains in science class. To see if there are differences in students' perceptions according to grade levels, a self-perception questionnaire was applied to third and fifth grade students in Seoul, Korea. The major results of the study are as follows. First, the perception level of the affective domain was higher than that of the cognitive domain in third grade students. There was no significant difference in the self-perception level of the fifth grade students. Both third and fifth grade students perceived the greatest improvement in the cognitive domain through one year of science teaching. Second, in the life science class, the same tendency was also observed. The students in the third and fifth grade reported that cognitive domains were the most improved through the one-year life science class. Third, when the students' perceptions were compared by grades, the third grade students showed higher self-perception scores than fifth grade students. As the grade increased, the perception scores of the students' lowered. Based on these findings, implications for science education research and teaching and learning at school are discussed.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the quality of life and depression in nursing students between Korean and Cambodians. Methods: The subjects of this study were 223 students taking up a four-year nursing course in colleges located in Area A in Korea and Area B in Cambodia. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 22.0. Results: The total score on quality of life among the Korean students was significantly higher than that of the Cambodian students (t=-4.596, p<.001), while the total score on depression was lower in the Korean students compared to that of the Cambodian students. There was a statistically significant difference in the scores (t=5.179, p<001). When the levels of depression were compared, the difference between the two groups was statistically significant - the Korean students had 92.7% normal and 7.3% mild depression, while the Cambodian students had 80.9% normal and 19.1% mild depression (x2=6.781, p=.009). As a result of analyzing the correlation between the total scores on depression and quality of life, a statistically significant correlation was found in both Korean (r=-.721, p<.001) and Cambodian (r=-.508, p<.001) students. Conclusion: Therefore, a nursing intervention that considers the cultural differences should be developed in order to improve emotional response and quality of life of cambodian students.
The purpose of this study was to investigate what kinds of foods university students consume, how often they go out eating, and the regularity and amount of their meals. A questionnaire survey was conducted on 600 university student (home with Parents $40.8\%$: house of relatives $5.5\%$: boarding with cooking $43.3\%$: dormitory $10.3\%$). The main results are as follows: PIBW(percent ideal body weight) was under weight($49.2\%$), normal weight($40.7\%$), over weight($6.0\%$) and obese($4.2\%$). Many students had breakfast irregularly(boarding with cooking: $81.2\%$> home with parents: $71.8\%$> dormitory: $54.8\%$> house of relatives: $54.5\%$). Students who had a meal of average size were $32.5\%$(for breakfast), $61.3\%$(for lunch), and $39.5\%$(for dinner). Students who were home with parents and boarding with cooking had more eating for breakfast and lunch than those who were house of relatives and dormitory. Students who were home with parents and dormitory students ate more often milk, milk products, and kimchi than house of relatives and boarding with cooking students. Home with parents, boarding with cooking and dormitory students ate more often meat, milk, bread, fast food, and instant noodles than house of relatives students. Home with parents, house of relatives, and dormitory students ate more often fish, dried anchovy, and vegetables than boarding with cooking students. Dormitory students ate more often snacks, such as alcohol and fruits, than home with parents, house of relatives, and boarding with cooking students.
