The Unipolar Charging Characteristics of Submicron Particles by Using an Indirect Photoelectric Charging (간접 광대전에 의한 서브 마이크론 입자의 단극하전 특성)

  • A new unipolar aerosol charger was developed by using an indirect photoelectric charging. The charger consists of two coaxial tubes, the inner UV lamp wrapped with stainless mesh and the outer Al cylinder. In this study, the effects of flow rate, particle size, and electric field were examined to search the optimal charging conditions with experimental and numerical methods. Monodisperse NaCl particles were fed into an annular space and the particles were charged by negative ions generated from Al plate exposed to the UV light. According to experimental results, the average number of elementary charge on particles increases from 2.5 to 5.5 as particle size increases from 50nm to 130nm at 2.5 L/min and 100V. The average number of elementary charge on particles was maximized at 25V as the electric potential between the stainless mesh and Al plate was varied from 0V to 400V.

Fabrication of 8 inch Polyimide-type Electrostatic Chuck (폴리이미드형 8인치 정전기척의 제조)

  • A polyimide-type electrostatic chuck (ESC) was fabricated for the application of holding 8-inch silicon wafers in the oxide etching equipment. For the fabrication of the unipolar ESC, core technologies such as coating of polyimide films and anodizing treatment of aluminum surface were developed. The polyimide films were prepared on top of thin coated copper substrates for the good electrical contacts, and the helium gas cooling technique was used for the temperature uniformity of the silicon wafers. The ESC was essentially working with an unipolar operation, which was easier to fabricate and operate compared to a bipolar operation. The chucking force of the ESC has been measured to be about 580 gf when the applied voltage was 1.5 kV, which was considered to be enough force to hold wafers during the dry etching processing. The employment of the ESC in etcher system could make 8% enhancement of the wafer processing yield.

  • In this paper, we developed the equipment to forming the insulation film which there are operated an electrolysis principles in particular solution. In the earlier, there are supplied the anode by unipolar voltage with pulse, in this paper, there are supplied the anode by bipolar voltage with pulse, alternately. And then, we examinate the system that there are developed the bipolar anodizing equipment using H-bridge. There are modulated pulse width for the variable current. In the results, we obtained the results of the uniform film surface that compared with the unipolar anodizing.

  • Herein, we investigated surface morphological characteristics of anodic films on Al6061 alloy prepared by unipolar pulsed Micro-arc oxidation (MAO) in a mixed solution of $Na_2SiO_3$ + KOH. The number and size of pores as well as craters on anodic alumina surface were studied as a function of different voltages, duty cycles and applied anodic current densities. The morphological characteristics of all samples were investigated by scanning electron microscopy, conforming that the most uniform surface morphology of MAO films on Al1050 alloy was obtained at high applied current density with low duty cycle.

  • This paper considers pulse width modulation (PWM) methods which are used in 3-phase brushless DC motor controller. Due to many disadvantages of bipolar PWM method, unipolar PWM method is mostly used in industrial field. In constant speed control application, the unipolar PWM method shows a good performance of speed control. But in the wide range of speed control application, it shows a poor performance especially when deceleration is needed. So we propose hybrid PWM method that utilizes two PWM methods according to the sign of speed controller output. The simulation and experimental result shows that the proposed method improves a speed control performance of the brushless DC motor which is applied to industrial sewing machines.

  • The power spectrum of jittered pulse train is derived for the independent stationary pulse sequence with a stationary Gaussian phase jitter. For the unipolar pulse train signal, it is shown that as the phase jitter increases, the continuous Part of the power spectrum increases chile the discrete part decreases.

Resistive Switching Characteristics of Amorphous GeSe ReRAM without Metalic Filaments Conduction

  • We proposed amorphous GeSe-based ReRAM device of metal-insulator-metal (M-I-M) structure. The operation characteristics of memory device occured unipolar switching characteristics. By introducing the concepts of valance-alternation-pairs (VAPs) and chalcogen vacancies, the unipolar resistive switching operation had been explained. In addition, the current transport behavior were analyzed with space charge effect of VAPs, Schottky emission in metal/GeSe interface and P-F emission by GeSe bulk trap in mind. The GeSe ReRAM device of M-I-M structure indicated the stable memory switching characteristics. Furthermore, excellent stability, endurance and retention characteristics were also verified.

Verbal Memory Function and Characteristics of Memory Process in Schizophrenia and Affective Disorder (정신분열병과 기분장애 환자의 언어적 기억능력과 기억과정의 특성에 대한 연구)

  • Objectives:This study was to compare verbal memory ability among patients with schizophrenia, bipolar manic patients and unipolar depressive patients, and to understand their charicteristics of memory process. Methods:All subjects were hospitalized patients and had been interviewed by using the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-IV(SCID). Schizophrenic patients(N=40), bipolar manic patients(N=17), and unipolar depressive patients(N=20) were assessed with K-AVLT for verbal memory and with K-WAIS for verbal IQ. Three groups were compared regarding total immediate recall, delayed recall, delayed recognition, learning curve, memory retention, and retrieval efficiency under controlled verbal IQ. Multiple regression analysis was performed to find which clinical factors have an influence on verbal memory ability. Results:In MANCOVA, differences of verbal memory test scores among the groups were statistically significant(F=1.800, p<.05). In post hoc analysis, Patients with schizophrenia and bipolar mania showed poorer performance in immediate recall, delayed recall, delayed recognition, retrieval efficiency than unipolar depres- sive patients. And schizophrenics performed poorly in delayed recall, delayed recognition, retrieval efficiency than nonpsychotic affective disorder group, but no difference in total immediate recall, delayed recall, delayed recognition, retrieval efficiency between the schizophrenic group and the psychotic affective group. Conclusions:These results partially confirm previous reports of verbal memory ability among major psychiatric disorders. Our results showed that psychotic symptoms were related with verbal memory, and longer duration of illness was related with poorer performance in schizophrenia and unipolar depression.

  • In this paper, we develop a dual beam automotive laser radar system which improve the defect of conventional unipolar one beam laser scheme. We introduce an SNR improving method using bipolar signal synthesizing scheme from two unipolar signals at the receiving unit via differential structure by allocating bipolar m-sequence into the two laser wavelengths, which have similar property like 2-D OOC, and investigate its performance. Simulation results show that the proposed dual beam scheme can have 3dB SNR improvement as compared with conventional unipolar signaling laser radar system. Also, we show the simple interference rejection scheme using differential structures. The proposed scheme have a merit to obtain additional 3dB SNR gain applied into the excellent results based on unipolar optical signal studied lately.

  • In brushless DC motor, current flow should be controlled such that only properly selected 2 out of 3 phases carry current depending on the position of rotor. In order to detect position of rotor, hole sensor, encoder, optical position-detecting sensor, and magnetic position-detecting sensor are frequently employed. These sensors not only often cause malfunction in low and high temperature but they also have disadvantage of increasing cost and size of an motor system. To reduce the cost and size and to increase the robustness of the motor system, recently researches on sensorless motor dirve are very active. This paper proposes a novel unipolar PWM switching method that can improve the control problem caused by the difficulty of detecting zero crossing point at high revolution speed by minimizing the switching noise while increasing the lifespan of the drive system.
