  • Motion estimation technique has been used to increase video compression rates in motion video applications. One of the important algorithms to implement the motion estimation technique is search algorithm. Among many search algorithms, the H.263 adopted the Nearest Neighbors algorithm for fast search. In this paper, motion estimation block for the Nearest Neighbors algorithm is designed on FPGA and coded using VHDL and simulated under the Xilinx foundation environments. In the experiment results, we verified that the algorithm was properly designed and performed on the Xilinx FPGA(XCV300Q240)

  • The present paper investigates estimation of a scale parameter of a gamma distribution using a loss function that reflects both goodness of fit and precision of estimation. The Bayes and empirical Bayes estimators rotative to balanced loss functions (BLFs) are derived and optimality of some estimators are studied.

  • Under the minimum risk point estimation formulation of Robbins(1959), we consider the sequential point estimation problem for normal population $N({\theta},\;{\theta})$ with unknown parameter ${\theta}$. In the case of completely unknown ${\theta}$, Stein's(1945) two-stage procedure is known to enjoy the consistency property, but it is not even first-order efficient. In the case when ${\theta}>{\theta}_L\;where\;{\theta}_L(>0)$ is known, the revised two-stage procedure is shown to enjoy all the usual second-order properties.

  • We suggest the modified computing algorithm for raking ratio estimation under the assumption that the population total is partially known, and the sample total is completely known about survey variable in contingency table. We show that the proposed estimation procedure is useful to estimate the population cell count in this situation through an empirical study.

  • The constrained maximum likelihood estimation of the number of trials in several binomial populations under order restriction, such as simple order, is discussed. The estimation procedure is based on, so called, pool adjacent violators algorithm. Three handy estimators are given and their performances are compared using an artificial example.

  • The Koziol-Green(KG) model has become an important topic in industrial life testing. In this paper we suggest MLE of the reliability function for the Weibull distribution under the KG model. Futhermore, we compare Kaplan-Meier estimator, Nelson estimator, Cheng & Chang estimator, and Ebrahimi estimator with proposed estimator for the reliability function under the KG model.

  • This paper addresses the nonparametric Bayesian estimation for the exponential populations under type II censoring. The Dirichlet process prior is used to provide nonparametric Bayesian estimates of parameters of exponential populations. In the past, there have been computational difficulties with nonparametric Bayesian problems. This paper solves these difficulties by a Gibbs sampler algorithm. This procedure is applied to a real example and is compared with a classical estimator.

  • Let $X_1, \cdot, X_p$ be p independent random variables, where each $X_i$ has a distribution belonging to one parameter discrete power series distribution. The problem is to simultaneously estimate the unknown parameters under an asymmetric loss. Several new classes of dominating estimators are obtained by solving certain difference inequality.

  • The comparison of two or more Lorenz curves of Pareto distributions of first kind under arbitrary order restriction is studied. The problem is turned out to be a statistical inference problem concerning scale parameters under order restriction. We assume that the location parameters of Palate distributions are completely unknown. In this paper the maximum likelihood estimation and likelihood ratio tests for and against order restriction are proposed.
