In this paper, I-PDA controller based on Coefficient Diagram Method incorporating feedforward controller is applied by robotic manipulators. Robotic manipulator models contain uncertain elements, which are not known exactly. Therefore, the dynamics of robotic manipulators are generally classified as uncertain dynamic system. The controller considered for the robotic manipulators need to move payloads of different masses from one point to another with good balance of the stability and response, consequently we propose I-PDA controller based on Coefficient Diagram Method incorporating FFC. The effectiveness of the controller for different system type of robotic manipulators is demonstrated by the simulation results.

The problem of designing a nonlinear sliding surface for an uncertain system is considered. The proposed sliding surface comprises a linear time invariant term and an additional time varying nonlinear term. It is assumed that a linear sliding surface parameter matrix guaranteeing the asymptotic stability of the sliding mode dynamics is given. The linear sliding surface parameter matrix is used for the linear term of the proposed sliding surface. The additional nonlinear term is designed so that a Lyapunov function decreases more rapidly. By including the additional nonlinear term to the linear sliding surface parameter matrix we obtain a nonlinear sliding surface such that the speed of responses is improved. We also give a switching feedback control law inducing a stable sliding motion in finite time. Finally, we give an LMI-based design algorithm, together with a design example.

We consider the problem of designing a static output feedback sliding mode control law for linear dynamical systems with mismatched uncertainties in the state matrix. We assume that an output dependent sliding surface guaranteeing the quadratic stability of the sliding mode dynamics is given, the reachability condition is not required to be satisfied globally, and the output feedback sliding mode control law complises both linear and discontinuous parts. We reduce the problem of designing the linear part of the sliding mode control law to a simple LMI problem which offers design flexibility for combining various useful convex design specifications. Our approach does not require state transformation and it can be applied to mismatched uncertain systems.

In this paper, an integral variable structure static output feedback controller with an integral-augmented sliding surface is designed for the improved robust control of a uncertain system under unmatched system uncertainty and matched input matrix uncertainty and disturbance satisfying some conditions. To effectively remove the reaching phase problems, an output dependent integral augmented sliding surface is proposed. Its equivalent control and ideal sliding mode dynamics are obtained. The previous some limitations is overcome in this systematic design. A stabilizing control with the closed loop exponential stability is designed for all unmatched system matrix uncertainties and proved together with the existence condition of the sliding mode on S=0. To show the usefulness of the algorithm, a design example and computer simulations are presented.

It is well-known that the poles of a system are closely related with the dynamics of the systems, and the pole assignment problem, which locates the poles in the desired regions, in one of the major problem in control theory. Also, it is always possible to assign poles to specific points for exactly known linear systems. But, it is impossible for the uncertain linear systems because of the uncertainties that originate from modeling error, system variations, sensing error and disturbances, so we must consider some regions instead of points. In this paper, we consider both the analysis and the design of robust pole assignment problem of linear system with time-varying uncertainty. The considered uncertainties are the unstructured uncertainty and the structured uncertainty, and the considered region is the circular region. Based on Lyapunov stability theorem and linear matrix inequality(LMI), we first present the analysis result for robust pole assignment, and then we present the design result for robust pole assignment. Finally, we give some numerical examples to show the applicability and usefulness of our presented results.

In this paper, we propose a new sliding surface design method for a class of uncertain systems with mismatched unstructured uncertainties. The uncertain system under consideration may have mismatched parameter uncertainties in the state matrix as well as in the input matrix. In terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), we give a sufficient condition for the existence of linear sliding surfaces guaranteeing the asymptotic stability of the sliding mode dynamics. And, we give an LMI parameterization of such linear sliding surfaces together with switched feedback control laws. Our LMI condition can be less conservative than the existing conditions and our result supplement the existing results. Finally, we give a numerical example showing that our method can be better than the previous results.

This paper formulates the suboptimal robust Kalman filtering problem into two coupled Linear Matrix Inequality (LMI) problems by applying Lyapunov theory to the augmented system which is composed of the state equation in the uncertain linear system and the estimation error dynamics. This formulations not only provide the sufficient conditions for the existence of the desired filter, but also construct the suboptimal robust Kalman filter. The proposed filter can guarantee the optimized upper bound of the estimation error variance for uncertain systems with parametric uncertainties in both the state and measurement matrices. In addition, this paper shows how the problem of finding the minimizing solution subject to Quadratic Matrix Inequality (QMI), which cannot be easily transformed into LMI using the usual Schur complement formula, can be successfully modified into a generic LMI problem.

This paper deals with the fault detection problem in uncertain linear/non-linear systems having both undermodelling and noise. A robust fault detection method is presented which accounts for the effects of noise, model mismatch and nonlinearities. The basic idea is to embed the unmodelled dynamics in a stochastic process and to use the nominal model with a predetermined fixed denominator. This allows the input /output relationship to be represented as a linear function of the system parameters and also facilitate the quatification of the effect of noise, model mismatch and linearization errors on parameter estimation by the Bayesian method. Comparisons are made via simulations with traditional fault detection methods which do not account for model mismatch or linearization errors. The new method suggested in this paper is shown to have a marked improvement over traditional methods on a number of simulations, which is a consequence of the fact that the new method explicitly for the effects of undermodelling and linearization errors.
We deal with robust control problem for singularly perturbed linear systems with norm-bounded structured uncertainty under state constraints. We assume that the norm-bounded uncertainty is composed of repeated scalar-block and full-block forms. In the structured uncertainty, repeated scalar block forms account for uncertain physical parameter value and full-block forms may be some unknown nonlinear dynamics. In order deal with uncertainty and state constraints, we use LMI(Linear Matrix Inequality). The original problem is decomposed into two well behaved reduced order problems. Shinc two LMI problems are completely independent, each solution can be computed simultaneously and work in parallel.
Interactions of a humanoid with a human are important, when the humanoid is requested to provide people with human-friendly services in unknown or uncertain environment. Such interactions may require more complicated and human-like behaviors from the humanoid. In this work the arm motions of a human are discussed as the early stage of human motion imitation by a humanoid. A motion capture system is used to obtain human-friendly arm motions as references. However the captured motions may not be applied directly to the humanoid, since the differences in geometric or dynamics aspects as length, mass, degrees of freedom, and kinematics and dynamics capabilities exist between the humanoid and the human. To overcome this difficulty a method to adapt captured motions to a humanoid is developed. The geometric difference in the arm length is resolved by scaling the arm length of the humanoid with a constant. Using the scaled geometry of the humanoid the imitation of actor's arm motions is achieved by solving an inverse kinematics problem formulated using optimization. The errors between the captured trajectories of actor arms and the approximated trajectories of humanoid arms are minimized. Such dynamics capabilities of the joint motors as limits of joint position, velocity and acceleration are also imposed on the optimization problem. Two motions of one hand waiving and performing a statement in sign language are imitated by a humanoid through dynamics simulation.
