A Two-Step Screening Algorithm to Solve Linear Error Equations for Blind Identification of Block Codes Based on Binary Galois Field

  • Existing methods for blind identification of linear block codes without a candidate set are mainly built on the Gauss elimination process. However, the fault tolerance will fall short when the intercepted bit error rate (BER) is too high. To address this issue, we apply the reverse algebra approach and propose a novel "two-step-screening" algorithm by solving the linear error equations on the binary Galois field, or GF(2). In the first step, a recursive matrix partition is implemented to solve the system linear error equations where the coefficient matrix is constructed by the full codewords which come from the intercepted noisy bitstream. This process is repeated to derive all those possible parity-checks. In the second step, a check matrix constructed by the intercepted codewords is applied to find the correct parity-checks out of all possible parity-checks solutions. This novel "two-step-screening" algorithm can be used in different codes like Hamming codes, BCH codes, LDPC codes, and quasi-cyclic LDPC codes. The simulation results have shown that it can highly improve the fault tolerance ability compared to the existing Gauss elimination process-based algorithms.

  • In this study, focusing on reducing a load in forming helical gears, the extrusion using two-step processes for manufacturing helical gear is proposed. The process is composed of the extrusion step in which spur gear to be used as a preform in next step is formed, and the torsion step in which the preform of spur gear is formed to helical gear. Upper-bound theory for the two-step process is applied and compared with the results of experiment. The result of upper-bound solution has a good agreement with that of the experiment and the FE analysis. The newly proposed method can be used as an advanced forming technique to remarkably reduce a forming load, to prolong a tool life, and to replace the conventional forming process of helical gears. Results obtained from the extrusion using two-step processes enable the designer and manufacturer of helical gear to be more efficient in this field.

  • In this paper, we implemented a hierarchical encryption system using two-step phase-shifting digital holography(PSDH) technology based on XOR and scramble operations. The proposed encryption system is a system that authenticates access through the issuance of an encryption key for access to individual laboratories, department offices, and universities. In the encryption process, we proposed a double encryption method using XOR and scramble operation with digital technology and two-step phase-shifting digital holography with optical technology. In the two-step PSDH process, an new method of determining the reference wave intensity without measuring it by using random common object image gererated from digital encryption process was also proposed. In the decryption process, the process is performed in the reverse order of encryption process. And only when the various key information used in the encryption process is correct, the encrypted information can be decrypted, so that the user can access the desired place. That is, there is a feature that can hierarchically control the space that can be accessed according to the type of key issued in the proposed encryption system. Through the computer simulation, the feasibility of the proposed hierarchical encryption system was confirmed.

  • A small integral reactor SMART (System Integrated Modular Advanced ReacTor), being developed in Korea since late 1990s and targeted to obtaining a standard design approval by the end of 2011, is introduced. The design scope and level for design certification (DC) is well described in the U.S. NRC SECY documents published the early 1990s. However, the documents are valid for a one-step licensing process called a combined operating license (COL) by the U.S. NRC, while Korea still uses a two-step licensing process. Thus, referencing the concept of the SECY documents, we have established the design scope and level for the SMART DC using the contexts of the standard review plan (SRP). Some examples of the results and issues raised during our review are briefly presented in this paper. The same methodology will be applied to other types of reactor under development in Korea, such as future VHTR reactors.

Although cold forging and extrusion were applied to some bevel, spur, and helical gears, problems in connection with reducing forming load and tool life still make it difficult for the related methods to be commercialized. In this study, focusing on reducing load in forming helical gears, extrusion of helical gears by a two-step process is proposed. The process is composed of an extrusion step of spur gears used as preform and a torsion step of the preform to make helical gears.   • The performance of one-column isothermal PSA process is assessed by dynamic simulator, gPROMS. The four-step and five-step processes are compared. A five-step process is employed in order to show the effect of the addtional cocurrent depressurization step on the four-step PSA process. Two processes parameters, purity and recovery of SO$_{2}$ are used for the performance comparison. The results of dynamic simulation show that four-step process is superior to five-step process in recovery, but not in purity.

  • In this study, the fabrication of ultra fine grained Mo bulk was conducted. $MoO_3$ nanopowders were prepared by a high energy ball-milling process and then reduced at the temperature of $800^{\circ}C$ without holding time in $H_2$ atmosphere. The particle size of Mo nanopowder was ~150 nm and grain size was ~40 nm. The two-step process was employed for the sintering of Mo nanopowder to obtain fine grain size. The densification over 90% could be obtained by the two-step sintering with a grain size of less than 660 nm. For higher density, modified two-step sintering was designed. 95% of theoretical density with the grain size of 730 nm was obtained by the modified two-step sintering.

  • In this paper, we have proposed a novel process using two-step electron beam lithography to fabricate 20 nm T-gates for high performance MODFETs. Two-step lithography reduces electron forward scattering by defining the foot on a thin (100 nm) bottom-layer of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) at the second step, the T-gate head having been developed at the first step. Adopting a low temperature development technique for the second step reduces the detrimental effect of head exposure on foot definition. We have shown that 20 nm T-gate can be patterned with this process.

초소형 스크류 온간 다단 헤딩공정 연구 (Design of a Multi-Step Warm Heading Process for Subminiature Screws)

  • A multi-step warm forging process for subminiature screws is investigated. Due to the low formability of Titanium alloys, bit forming of Titanium screws is difficult by cold forging. In order to overcome this low formability of Titanium alloys, two candidate processes, i.e., multi-step forging and warm forging are introduced. First, a multi-step (two-step) forging process is investigated. The punch shape and stroke of forging during the first step is designed via various analyses. Finally, the bit formability is investigated at different forging temperatures. Analyses are carried out for two-step forging at various temperatures and the formability under these thermal conditions is compared.
