Human face detection has many applications such as face recognition, face or facial feature tracking, pose estimation, and expression recognition. We present a new method for automatically segmentation and face detection in color images. Skin color alone is usually not sufficient to detect face, so we combine the color segmentation and shape analysis. The algorithm consists of two stages. First, skin color regions are segmented based on the chrominance component of the input image. Then regions with elliptical shape are selected as face hypotheses. They are certificated to searching for the facial features in their interior, Experimental results demonstrate successful detection over a wide variety of facial variations in scale, rotation, pose, lighting conditions.
In this paper, an improved fractal color image decoding method using the data dependence parts and the vector distortion measure is proposed. The vector distortion measure exploits the correlation between different color components. The pixel in RGB color space can be considered as a 30dimensional vector with elements of RGB components. The root mean square error(rms) in RGB color for similarity measure of two blocks R and R' was used. We assume that various parameter necessary in image decoding are stored in the transform table. If the parameter is referenced in decoding image, then decoding is performed by the recursive decoding method. If the parameter is not referenced in decoding image, then the parameters recognize as the data dependence parts and store its in the memory. Non-referenced parts can be decoded only one time, because its domain informations exist in the decoded parts by the recursive decoding method. Non-referenced parts are defined the data dependence parts. Image decoding method using data dependence classifies referenced parts and non-referenced parts using information of transform table. And the proposed method can be decoded only one time for R region decoding speed than Zhang & Po's method, since it is decreased the computational numbers by execution iterated contractive transformations for the referenced range only.
The purpose of this research was to find the suitable dyeing method for dyeing cotton fabric into indigo blue color using the raw indigo powder dyes sold in the Korean market. The research focused primarily on the comparison of the non-reduced dyeing method and the reduced dyeing method. The dyeing effects using different dyeing temperatures ($2{\sim}80^{\circ}C$) and different concentrations of reducing agent and alkali were also investigated. It was found that the reduced dyeing method must be used for dyeing cotton into indigo blue color using the commercial raw indigo powder dyes. The best result was obtained by $20^{\circ}C$ dyeing with the $40^{\circ}C$ dyeing giving a comparable result. The intensity of the blue color could be enhanced by increasing the alkali concentration. The non-reduced dyeing could not dye cotton fabric into indigo blue color at any given dyeing temperatures ($2{\sim}80^{\circ}C$). The reduce-dyed cotton fabrics showed a gradual color change upon repeated washing and extended sunlight exposure, the most color change occurring after the first two washing cycles and the first 5 hours of sunlight exposure. The standard tests of colorfastness showed that the reduce-dyed cotton fabrics had good to excellent colorfastness whereas the colorfastness of the non-reduce-dyed cotton fabrics were mostly poor.

This study investigates the current status and dyeing properties of various natural indigo powder dyes in the domestic market. Products from India, China, Europe are sold in the market and only a few manufacturers provide recommendation for the method of dyeing and information on the additives. Through the market research and the preliminary investigation on 21 products, 11 were selected for the dyeing experiment which include 3 Indian, 3 Chinese, 2 German, and 1 Pakistani origin indigo reduced powders, and 2 Indian origin dried indigo leaf powder. The two dyeing methods used were the precipitation method and the fresh juice method, both at $10^{\circ}C$, $25^{\circ}C$, and $60^{\circ}C$. Color difference, K/S value, and colorfastness of dyed cotton fabrics were examined. Indian reduced indigo powder showed the highest K/S value, deep dyeing, and the best color fastness. Chinese reduced indigo powder resulted in a more greenish and bluish color. Powders of dried indigo leaves were easy to use but resulted in a pale color due to low dye uptake.

We have been making researches on 3-D displays using computer-generated holograms(CGHs). Our CGHs are binary Fresnel holograms that reconstruct point light sources and are recorded by using high resolution laser printers (image setters). We use an image setter with a resolution of 5080 dots per inch. It is possible to reconstruct CGHs with light-emitting points. As the resolution of the image setter is not so high, it is better to use a spherical wave as a reference beam. We considered the recordable points objects are restricted by the low resolution, and proposed the multiplex type hologram to reduce the number of point objects recorded in the unit area of the CGH. We proposed a method to make computer-generated color hologram which could reconstruct color point light sources, by combining RGB color filters with the stripe CGHs corresponding to each color. We considered two kinds of gradation method on our binary CGHs. In this paper, we propose a multiple reconstruction method for improving the narrow viewing field.

This paper presents a dynamic simulation loop that gives tracking results of 2-color concentric annular ring (CAR) reticle seeker. Our simulation tool includes the target/flare model and a proportional navigation guidance (PNG) loop. The CAR reticle system performances and the flare effects are analyzed in various scenarios. When a flare is present in the field of view (FOV), the simulation results show that the reticle seeker cannot keep a precise target tracking. In this paper, we propose 2-color counter-countermeasure (CCM) using the least mean square (LMS) method to cope with a presence of IR flare. The proposed method makes a simultaneous process in two infrared (IR) wavelength bands: MWIR add SWIR. The simulation results have shown that our adaptive IRCCM algorithm can achieve an effective cancellation of the flare signal with a relatively high intensity.
The effect of oven firing on the color stability and surface texture of extrinsic stains used characterization and color modification of metal cermic restoration were studied by comparing different temperatures and techniques. They were autoglaze technique, applied glaze technique, two step low-fusing glaze technique and one step low-fusing glaze technique. Autoglaze technique and applied glaze technique were air-fired to manufacturer's recommended temperature. Two step low-fusing glaze technique is separated staining and overglazing. Thin slurry of stain powder were air-fired to $1500^{\circ}F$, Overglaze powder powder was then mixed with seam medium and air-fired to $170^{\circ}F$. One step low-fusing glaze technique is combined staining and overglazing. Thin slurry of stain and glaze powder were air-fired to $170^{\circ}F$. The obtained results were as fellows. 1. Slightly significant color differences by colorimeter were found between different stain application and fusion techniques(P<0.05). 2. Two step low-fusing glaze method showed the most rough surface, especially ceramco orage stain(P<0.05). 3. Surface roughness increased gradually in order of autoglaze, applied glaze, one step low-fusing glaze but they were not significantly different(P<0.05). 4. When two step low-fusing glaze was applied, both color measurement and surface texture were sinificantly different from other groups(P<0.05).

This paper presents a new prediction method RBP region-based prediction model where the context used for prediction contains regions instead of individual pixels. There is a meaningful property that RBP can partition a cartoon image into two distinctive types of regions, one containing full-color backgrounds and the other containing boundaries, edges and home-chromatic areas. With the development of computer techniques, synthetic images created with CG (computer graphics) becomes attactive. Like the demand on data compression, it is imperative to efficiently compress synthetic images such as cartoon animation generated with CG for storage of finite capacity and transmission of narrow bandwidth. This paper a lossy compression method to full-color regions and a lossless compression method to homo-chromatic and boundaries regions. Two criteria for partitioning are described, constant criterion and variable criterion. The latter criterion, in form of a linear function, gives the different threshold for classification in terms of contents of the image of interest. We carry out experiments by applying our method to a sequence of cartoon animation. We carry out experiments by applying our method to a sequence of cartoon animation. Compared with the available image compression standard MPEG-1, our method gives the superior results in both compression ratio and complexity.

Recently, as the sensor network technologies and camera technologies develops, there are increasing needs by combining two technologies to effectively observe or monitor the areas that are difficult for people to access by using the visual sensor network. Since the applications using visual sensors take pictures of the outdoor areas, the images may not be well contrasted due to cloudy weather or low-light time periods such as a sunset. In this paper, we first model the color characteristics according to illumination using the characteristics of visual sensors that continuously capture the same area. Using this model, a new method for improving low contrast images in real time is proposed. In order to make the model, the regions of interest consisting of the same color are set up and the changes of color according to the brightness of images are measured. The gamma function is used to model color characteristics using the measured data. It is shown by experimental results that the proposed method improves the contrast of an image by adjusting the color components of the low contrast image simply and accurately.

With the rapid development of deep learning, Depth Map Super-Resolution (DMSR) method has achieved more advanced performances. However, when the upsampling rate is very large, it is difficult to capture the structural consistency between color features and depth features by these DMSR methods. Therefore, we propose a color-image guided DMSR method based on iterative depth feature enhancement. Considering the feature difference between high-quality color features and low-quality depth features, we propose to decompose the depth features into High-Frequency (HF) and Low-Frequency (LF) components. Due to structural homogeneity of depth HF components and HF color features, only HF color features are used to enhance the depth HF features without using the LF color features. Before the HF and LF depth feature decomposition, the LF component of the previous depth decomposition and the updated HF component are combined together. After decomposing and reorganizing recursively-updated features, we combine all the depth LF features with the final updated depth HF features to obtain the enhanced-depth features. Next, the enhanced-depth features are input into the multistage depth map fusion reconstruction block, in which the cross enhancement module is introduced into the reconstruction block to fully mine the spatial correlation of depth map by interleaving various features between different convolution groups. Experimental results can show that the two objective assessments of root mean square error and mean absolute deviation of the proposed method are superior to those of many latest DMSR methods.
