  • We have developed MSPF (measurement system for physical fitness) which measures physical strength and body dimensions. This system has two main features, one is an automatic measurement of physical fitness, and the other is reducement of reading and writing errors caused by human during measurement. Using the MSPF, total ten items can be measured such as weight, height, sit up, push up,. etc. Since the system which have objectification and high precision has been needed, we used a memory card. By using this, it was easy to save and archive data by computer.

  • In this paper, a planar type bandpass filter in multilayered PCB is presented. The multilayered PCB structure has some advantages on fabricating microwave devices such as the size reduction and ability of tight coupling by folding or embedding. The proposed BPF has two transmission zeros at the both sides of the center frequency by using independent electric and magnetic coupling structure. The designed BPF with four layer teflon PCBs of dielectric constant 2.94 has dimensions of 24x20x1.524 in mm, center frequency of 2.47GHz and bandwidth of about l00MHz. A good agrement is achieved between the measured result and the simulated one. The influences of air gaps between the layers are also analyzed and presented.

  • Most of distributed PLC system is secured reliability of the system by fully duplicated controller. But it costs too much. In this paper, we proposed fault tolerant control using minimum spare controllers. First, the system is modeled using Galois field. Next, we designed additional spare controllers using the parity code of two dimensions. Finally, the algorithm for producing estimated output in remote I/O when the fault occurs was suggested. This method will be applied to an automatic system in order to increase reliability and improve cost performance.

  • The purposes of this study were to explore the consumer attitude toward the retail sales, to examine the relationships between the sale attitude and the price-related variables(i.e., price consciousness, sales proneness, and value consciousness), and to examine the effects of the sale attitude and the price-related variables on the perceived price value during the retail sales. Data were collected from 790 undergraduate students using the two types of questionnaires representing the sale and non-sale situations, and 776 responses were analyzed. Factor analysis of the sale attitude extracted five dimensions including price benefit, limited product assortment, impulse buying, low service quality, and disordered store atmosphere. The price benefit and the impulse buying factors were related with all the 3 price-related variables, and all the sale attitude factors were related with the value consciousness. The price benefit and the impulse buying factors positively affected the perceived price value under the sale situation.

  • The purpose of this study is to propose a new design principles and to analyze the pattern of art and architecture applying fractal concepts. As this study is based on fractal geometry as a natural science, 1 intented to explain the concepts and provide some methods of generating fractal properties. Two major aspects are discussed. Frist, fractals are geometric shapes that are self-similar, in other words, they iterate a basic shape at ever increasing a decreasing dimensions. Self-similarity, irregularity, and scaling are fundamental characteristics of fractal geometry. Second, the fractal concepts of art and design can be analyzed and used as a critical tool. In both criticism and design, fractals provides a tool In fine, fractal geometry can be provided endless possibilities for artists and designers intended in expressing the more complex underlying rhythms and organic patterns of nature.

  • Worldwide cardiovascular diseases are the major cause of death. Aside from heart transplants, which are limited due to the availability of human donor hearts, artificial hearts are the only therapy available for terminal heart diseases. For various reasons, a total implantable artificial heart is desirable. But the limited space in the human thorax sets rigorous restrictions on the weight and dimensions of the device. Nevertheless, the appropriate functionality of the artificial heart must be ensured and blood damage must be prevented. These requirements set further restrictions to the drive of this device. In the this paper, two optimization methods, namely, the manual parameter variation and Differential Evolution algorithm, are presented and applied to match the specifications of an artificial heart.

  • The resent work is about the design and installation of the 60 URT heat pump according to the need. This design is eco-friendly, easily available, reduces maintenance and electricity cost. The dimensions of heat pump is $1500mm{\times}500mm{\times}1940mm$ (i.e length 1500 mm, width 500 mm and height 1940 mm) is installed on site. It can be operated with automation (PID) and controlled by sensors. The performance of and heat pump is evaluated experimentally by the monitoring system.

  • On the purpose of increasing resonant frequency without sacrificing quality factor as well as much decreasing dimensions, corrugated micro beam resonator based on polycrystalline 3C-SiC films is the applicable solution. In this work, appropriate corrugated structure is suggested to increase resonant frequency of resonators. Micro beam resonators based on 3C-SiC films which have a two-side corrugation along the length of beams were simulated by finite element method and compared to a same-size flat rectangular. With the dimension of 36x12x0.5 ${\mu}m^{3}$, the flat cantilever has resonant frequency of 746 kHz. Meanwhile, with this size but corrugation width of 6 ${\mu}m$ and depth of 0.4 ${\mu}m$, the corrugated cantilever reaches the resonant frequency at 1.252 MHz.

  • Draper and Lawrence (1965a) have given mixture designs for three factors when all the mixture components can vary on the entire factor space so that the region of interest is an equilateral triangle in two dimensions. In this paper their work is extended to the cases when the region of interest is an echelon, parallelogram, pentagon or hexagon, because of the restirctions imposed on some or all of the mixture components. The principles used in the choice of appropriate designs are those originally introduced by Box and Draper(1959). It is assumed that a response surface equation of first order is fitted, but there is a possibility of bias error due to presence of second order terms in the true model. Minimum bias designs for several cases of restricted regions of interest are illustrated.

  • The area under the ROC curve can be represented by both Mann-Whitney and Wilcoxon rank sum statistics. Consider an ROC surface and manifold equal to three dimensions or more. This paper finds that the volume under the ROC surface (VUS) and the hypervolume under the ROC manifold (HUM) could be derived as functions of both conditional Mann-Whitney statistics and conditional Wilcoxon rank sum statistics. The nullhypothesis equal to three distribution functions or more are identical can be tested using VUS and HUM statistics based on the asymptotic large sample theory of Wilcoxon rank sum statistics. Illustrative examples with three and four random samples show that two approaches give the same VUS and $HUM^4$. The equivalence of several distribution functions is also tested with VUS and $HUM^4$ in terms of conditional Wilcoxon rank sum statistics.
