  • Purpose: To identify and clarify the concept of labor support. Methods: This study used Schwartz-Barcott & Kim's hybrid model to identify the main attributes and indicators. In the fieldwork stage, data were collected in Seoul and Chenmam, Korea. The participants were five nurses working in the delivery room and four women who delivered more than two children by vaginal delivery. Results: The concept of labor support was found to have nine attributes and 23 indicators in two dimensions. For the physical intervention dimension, five attributes were derived. They were pain relief, selective use of technology, ambulation/positioning, physiological pushing, and increasing comfort. For the labor support practices dimension the attributeswereprovidinginformation, relief and encouragement, family support, and presence. Conclusion: The concept analysis of labor support in this study could provide guidelines for 'labor support' nursing practice and be useful for research in the women's health field.

  • One of the problem of science education in terms of its status as a unique discipline is the tendency of qualitative, rather than quantitative, arguments and judgements on research activities. In this study, a model called "Diamond Model" and an index formula for the balance of researches are suggested for achieving more pictoricaI and quantitative understandings on the distribution of researches in science education. Diamond Model is consisted of two dimensions corresponding to two main long-debated issues in science education, i.e. the dimension of cognitive-affective and the dimension of concept-process. In Diamond Model the geometrical symmetry represents the the balance of researches. An index formula for the balance was developed in order to ensure that the value of the index is between 0 to 1 and the numerical values of the index corresponds to the geometrical symmetry of the diamond. Then, in order to check their utility, the model and the index formula were applied to analyze the research papers appeared in JKARSE for the last 10 years.

  • Research results show (1) there are two dimensions characterizing Korean IS practitioners : 'project -operation' and 'product-orientation-strategic-orientation', (2) there are two distinctive and main career paths of Korean IS practitioners : generalists who support using information systems in the context of operation and specialists who are engaged in software development or improvement projects, and (3) Korean IS practitioners are experiencing serious and pervasive knowledge and skill deficiencies. Research results also provide clear evidence that Korean universities fail to provide eligible entry-level software developers and that the shortage of eligible entry-level software developers distorts both IS specialists' careers and knowledge and skill requirements for them.

  • Competitiveness strategies has been associated in the tourism literature as a crucial factor for the success of tourist. The study aims to explore the competitiveness strategies for tourism destinations by conducting in-depth interviews with probe questions. Thirteen community enterprises' managers in rural tourism communities were interviewed with a semi-structured interview questionnaire for one or two hours. From the interview data, eight themes in two dimensions were identified as competitiveness strategies of rural community enterprises in rural Korea. Differentiation strategies consist of new product development, service improvement, brand image improvement, advertise and public relation, and concentration. Cost leadership dimension includes cost reduction, increasing benefit, and long-term investment. The findings of this paper implicate the underlying the competitiveness strategies from managers' perspective.

  • Single crystals of misfit layered (LaS)xVS2(x 1.18) were grown using LaCl3(or I2) as a mineralizer (or transport agent) for the single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Procession photographs of (LaS)xVS2(x 1.18) were analyzed as the stacking structure of two kinds of LaS-and VS2-subcell. The result shows that two sublattices have common periodicities along the a*-and c*-axes, respectively, but not along the b*-axis. Sublattice dimensions of LaS and VS2 layers along b-axis were 5.67$\AA$ and 3.42$\AA$, respectively. Their ratio was 1.657 which is very close to 5/3.

  • This paper presents a method of the reliability analysis for a tension leg platform(TLP)in severe storm waves by using the first passage concept of the random tensile stress in the tendons. In the present method, two failure conditions are considered ;i.e., the exceedance of the ultimate tensile capacity and the occurrence of the negative tension. In order to consider the correlation effects between the failure events for each corner resulted from the rupture of all tencons at one corner, a new system limit state for a rectangular shaped TLP is developed, which is defined in terms of the TLP motions in the vertical plane ;i.e., heave, roll, and pitch. To illustrate the validity of the present method, the numerical analysis is carried out for two TLP's with different structural dimensions. Then, the results are compared with those by other methods.

  • In this paper, a separating system for used CRT recycling is presented. Depend on manufacturer CRTs has small differences in dimension for the same model, but the dimensions of the panel are nearly same. To simplifying configuration of the system, we developed CRT fixing pallets for every model of CRT. The height of cutting position for every model of CRT will be same. The cutting machine has two rotating arm and use metal-bond type diamond cutting wheel. Instead of water, two vortex tube type air-coolers are used for the cooling of cutter. Workers in recycling factory are generally old people. Therefore, control program should be easy to use and operate. Thus we developed GUI with very simple interface.

  • This paper presents a fuzzy-motion-control based tracking algorithm of mobile robots, which uses the geometrical information derived from the active stereo-vision system mounted on the mobile robot. The active stereo-vision system consists of two color cameras that rotates in two angular dimensions. With the stereo-vision system, the center position and depth information of the target object can be calculated. The proposed fuzzy motion controller is used to calculate the tracking velocity and angular position of the mobile robot, which makes the mobile robot keep following the object with a constant distance and orientation.

  • The paper deals with the design of a device for sound reproduction to be fixed to a supporting surface. The device is made up of two different types of acoustic actuators based on different technologies. This allows to reproduce sound in the range of frequencies from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. The generation of sound at high frequencies is demanded to a magnetostrictive actuator, while a more traditional magnetodynamics actuator is used to generate sound at low frequencies. The coupling between these two actuators leads to a device having small overall dimensions and high performance.

  • Given the diverse environmental contexts of universities worldwide there is a need for a theoretical orientation that addresses the entrepreneurial university in a range of settings. Applying the institutional perspective this research explores how universities are strongly influenced by, as well as active influencers in, their surrounding environment. To do this, we examine case narratives of two universities in each of the following countries: Norway, Sweden, Finland, the UK, and the U.S. Analysis focuses on five entrepreneurial dimensions as defined by Nelles and Vorley (2010a): Structures, Systems, Leadership, Strategies, and Culture while examining the impact of regional and national context at regulative, normative, and cognitive levels of analysis. We address two research questions: How do universities interact with their institutional context in developing entrepreneurially and what actors and forces are most important in motivating institutional change in developing a university's entrepreneurial architecture?
