Determination of Equilibrium Moisture Content of Rough Rice (벼의 평행함수율 측정에 관한 연구)

  • Equilibrium moisture content of rough rice is an important factor because it has a close relationship to storage and drying problems. Determination of the EMC for 10 different varieties of rough rice were made in atmospheres of various constant humidities at three different constant temperatures. In addition , some physical properties were also measured for two different levels of moisture content of the samples. The results may be summarized as follows ; 1. Several physical properties of ten different varieties of rough were measured. Significant difference of the properties was appeared between the varieties in which the difference was pronounced in the dimensions of the varieties. Also, all the dimensions were increased as the moisture content of the rough rice was increased from 14 % to 16%. 2. Significant difference of the equilibrium moisture content was also appeared between some of the varieties in which the equilibrium moisture content of Josaengtongil and Minehikari was 24.26% while that of the others was in the range between 18 to 19% at the conditions of relative humidity of 84% and temperature of 47℃ , respectively. Similar pattern was also observed in other conditions. 3. The values of the constant of Henderson's equation were calculated from the data obtained but they are believed to be useful until more precise and complete data are obtained. There was a good agreement between the calculated and experimental results.

Shielding effects and buckling of steel tanks in tandem arrays under wind pressures

  • This paper deals with the buckling behavior of thin-walled aboveground tanks under wind load. In order to do that, the wind pressures are obtained by means of wind-tunnel experiments, while the structural non linear response is computed by means of a finite element discretization of the tank. Wind-tunnel models were constructed and tested to evaluate group effects in tandem configurations, i.e. one or two tanks shielding an instrumented tank. Pressures on the roof and on the cylindrical part were measured by pressure taps. The geometry of the target tank is similar in relative dimensions to typical tanks found in oil storage facilities, and several group configurations were tested with blocking tanks of different sizes and different separation between the target tank and those blocking it. The experimental results show changes in the pressure distributions around the circumference of the tank for half diameter spacing, with respect to an isolated tank with similar dimensions. Moreover, when the front tank of the tandem array has a height smaller than the target tank, increments in the windward pressures were measured. From the computational analysis, it seems that the additional stiffness provided by the roof prevents reductions in the buckling load for cases even when increments in pressures develop in the top region of the cylinder.

Computer Simulation of Switching Characteristics and Magnetization Flop in Magnetic Tunnel Junctions Exchange Biased by Synthetic Antiferromagnets

  • The switching characteristics and the magnetization-flop behavior in magnetic tunnel junctions exchange biased by synthetic antiferromagnets (SyAFs) are investigated by using a computer simulations based on a single-domain multilayer model. The bias field acting on the free layer is found to be sensitive to the thickness of neighboring layers, and the thickness dependence of the bias field is greater at smaller cell dimensions due to larger magnetostatic interactions. The resistance to magnetization flop increases with decreasing cell size due to increased shape anisotropy. When the cell dimensions are small and the synthetic antiferromagnet is weakly, or not pinned, the magnetization directions of the two layers sandwiching the insulating layer are aligned antiparallel due to a strong magnetostatic interaction, resulting in an abnormal magneto resistance (MR) change from the high-MR state to zero, irrespective of the direction of the free-layer switching. The threshold field for magnetization-flop is found to increase linearly with increasing antiferromagnetic exchange coupling in the synthetic antiferromagnet. Irrespective of the magnetic parameters and cell sizes, magnetization flop does not exist near zero applied field, indicating that magnetization flop is driven by the Zeeman energy.

Effects of usage motivation for omni-channel services on continuance and affective commitment and brand purchase intention (옴니채널 서비스 이용 동기가 지속적 몰입과 정서적 몰입 및 브랜드 구매의도에 미치는 영향)

  • This study examined motivation to use omni-channel services on mobile devices in fashion stores and the effects of such usage motivation on brand purchase intention through continuous and affective commitment. Data were collected on consumers in their 20s and 30s who experienced omni-channel services during shopping for or purchasing fashion products. An online survey asked 413 consumers to rate their brand purchase intention. Sub-levels of each variable were examined using SPSS 25.0, followed by confirmatory factor analysis using AMOS 19.0. In addition, path analysis using structural equation modeling was applied to analyze associations between variables. The statistical results were mixed. First, only two dimensions of usage motivation for omni-channel services, hedonic and relational motivation, had positive effects on continuous and affective commitment. Second, continuous commitment had a greater effect on purchase intention of brands that provided omni-channel services than it did on affective commitment. Third, of the dimensions of usage motivation, utilitarian motivation had a direct influence on purchase intention in the modified model, while social motivation did not affect service commitment and purchase intention. Finally, our findings suggest that brand loyalty can be built by encouraging service commitments through hedonic and relational motivation, based on the usability of omni-channel services.

Classifications of Instructional Objectives of Elementary Science based on Bloom's Revised Taxonomy of Educational Objectives (Bloom의 신 교육목표분류학에 기초한 초등학교 과학과 수업 목표 분석)

  • Instructional objectives clearly show what teachers should teach in the class and how they lead the class, focusing on a certain activity for their students in the class. Clear instructional objectives are a prerequisite for teachers to accomplish effectively their curriculum. The revised Bloom's taxonomy table of educational objectives has been introduced in 50 years since the publication of his original taxonomy table in 1956. Bloom's revised taxonomy table of educational objectives has two-dimensions, the "cognitive process" dimension and the "knowledge" dimension, and it classifies class objectives more elaborately and clearly. This study was designed to classify instructional objectives stated in elementary science guidebooks for teachers into Bloom's revised taxonomy table, and see how the objectives of elementary science classes were categorized by grade level and areas. In addition, this study examined how the objectives of elementary science classes by study area were classified into the new taxonomy table. This study classified 618 elementary science instructional objectives of third- to sixth-grade science guidebooks for teachers into Bloom's revised taxonomy table. The results showed that the objectives of elementary science classes emphasized disproportionately some of the knowledge and cognitive process dimensions. In the area of subjects while the percentages of factual knowledge were very high, those of meta-cognitive knowledge were low.

  • The framework for mathematics assessments traditionally has been organized around two dimensions, a content dimension specifying the subject matter to be assessed within mathematics, and a cognitive dimension specifying the domains or thinking processes to be assessed. The cognitive dimensions describe the sets of behaviors expected of students as they engage with the mathematics content. The purpose of this paper is an attempt to make diversify and concrete the sets of behaviors by reviewing the current strands suggested by CAST(College Scholastic Ability Test), assessment framework developed by KEDI, and NAEA(National Assessment of Educational Achievement), and as famous foreign tests PISA, TIMSS, NAEP and NCTM.

Self-Disclosures on Facebook: The Two Faces of Narcissism

  • Individual personality traits are key factors that affect users' self-disclosure on SNS. We examined the relationship between an individual personality trait (i.e., narcissism) and three dimensions of self-disclosure behavior on Facebook (i.e., intention, level, and control of self-disclosure). A total of 261 Facebook users completed an online survey. The findings showed that more narcissistic individuals engage in deeper levels of self-disclosure and do so with greater intentionality than previous research indicated. More interestingly, narcissistic users simultaneously tend to control their expressions in public by concealing who they really are. Overall, these findings suggested that the self-disclosures on Facebook must not investigated by a single dimensions for better understanding of psychological dynamics of it users. In addition, the present research suggested that the narcissism should not be regarded as a predictor which simply gives either a positive or negative influence on self-disclosing behaviors in SNS.

The Facebook page communication strategy of high-end fashion department stores in the United States (미국 고급 패션백화점의 페이스북 페이지 커뮤니케이션 전략)

  • The purpose of this study is 1) to investigate the types of upscale fashion department stores' Facebook page contents, 2) to compare the types of Facebook page contents with the department stores, and 3) to explore the dimensions of the Facebook page components and their relations. For the study, three preeminent department stores in social media marketing were chosen: Bergdorf Goodman, Barneys New York, and Saks Fifth Avenue. Three hundred sixty five contents of these department stores' pages were investigated, which were uploaded from February 1st to March 31st of 2013. Content analysis, correspondence analysis, and categorical principal component analysis were used for the research. The result showed that there are four important types of contents in pages: product-related contents, fashion-related contents, department stores-related contents, and the contents of communicating with users. And these components of contents were related with department stores distinctively. The two dimensions of the page components were revealed: the basic components (contents, 'like', 'share', and 'comments') and the additional components (links and photos). Among contents, the introduction of products was appealed but news and events were not liked by users; the contents without a photo were not linked to additional information either.

  • The importance of bumper system lies not only in the styling of vehicles, but also in the protection of vehicles and pedestrians from reasonable impact. In this study, we proceed to search a method for efficient bumper system without using the impact test and the computer simulation to analyze the bumper system. In the process of the research, we proposed the each method that is used to search the shape that satisfy each regulations in first, because bumper's dimensions to satisfy 'vehicle protection' regulations and form's dimensions to satisfy ‘pedestrian protection' regulations are difficult to exist together. After that we proposed the calculate method and design algorithm that is used to search a reasonable point satisfying the two regulations together.

Permanent Support for Tunnels using NMT

  • Key aspects of the Norwegian Method of Tunnelling (NMT) are reviewed. These include a predictive method of support design using the six-parameter Q-system of rock mass characterisation. The rock mass rating or Q-value is updated during tunnel driving. The designed tunnel support generally consists of wet process, steel fibre reinforced shotcrete combined with fully grouted, untensioned rock bolts, Even in poor rock conditions S(fr) + B usually acts as the final rock reinforcement and tunnel lining. Since it is a drained lining, it is very economic compared to cast concrete with membranes. Light, free-standing steel liners are used to prevent water affecting the runnel environment. Rock mass conditions, and hence lining design and cost estimation can be assessed by careful use of seismic surveys. Relationships between the P-wave velocity, the rock mass deformation modulus and the Q-value have recently been established, where tunnel depth, rock porosity and the uniaxial compression strength of the rock are important variables. The rock mass modulus estimate, and simple index testing of the joints, provide the key input which joints are discretely represented (either in two dimensions with the UDEC code or in three dimensions with the 3DEC code) is generally favoured compared to continuum analysis. The latter may give a misleading impression of uniformity and deformations tend to be understimated. Q-system NMT designs of S(fr) + B (fibre reinforced shotcrete and bolting) are numerically checked and adjustments made to bolt capacities and shotcrete thickness if overloading is evident around the modelled profile.
