Wave induced motion of a triangular tension leg platforms in deep waters

  • Tension leg platforms (TLP's) are highly nonlinear due to large structural displacements and fluid motion-structure interaction. Therefore, the nonlinear dynamic response of TLP's under hydrodynamic wave loading is necessary to determine their deformations and dynamic characteristics. In this paper, a numerical study using modified Morison Equation was carried out in the time domain to investigate the influence of nonlinearities due to hydrodynamic forces and the coupling effect between all degrees of freedom on the dynamic behavior of a TLP. The stiffness of the TLP was derived from a combination of hydrostatic restoring forces and restoring forces due to cables and the nonlinear equations of motion were solved utilizing Newmark's beta integration scheme. The effect of wave characteristics was considered.

  • This paper presents an observer design method for a special class of multi input multi output(MIMO) nonlinear systems. First, we characterize the class of MIMO nonlinear systems with a block triangular structure. Also, the observability matrices for SISO nonlinear systems are extended to MIMO systems. By using the generalized observability matrices, it is shown that under the boundedness conditions of system state and input, the proposed observer guarantees the local exponential stability of error dynamics. Finally, its application to induction motor is given to verify the proposed method.

  • We observe the basic structure of the products of coefficients of nilpotent (left) polynomials in skew polynomial rings. This study consists of a process to extend a well-known result for semi-Armendariz rings. We introduce the concept of ${\alpha}$-skew n-semi-Armendariz ring, where ${\alpha}$ is a ring endomorphism. We prove that a ring R is ${\alpha}$-rigid if and only if the n by n upper triangular matrix ring over R is $\bar{\alpha}$-skew n-semi-Armendariz. This result are applicable to several known results.

Controllable Growth of Single Layer MoS2 and Resistance Switching Effect in Polymer/MoS2 Structure

  • We report a chemical vapor deposition approach and optimized growth condition to the synthesis of single layer molybdenum disulfide ($MoS_2$). Obtaining large grain size with continuous $MoS_2$ atomically thin films is highly responsible to the growth distance between molybdenum trioxide source and receiving silicon substrate. Experimental results indicate that triangular shape $MoS_2$ grain size could be enlarged up to > 80um with the precisely controlled the source-to-substrate distance under 7.5 mm. Furthermore, we demonstrate fabrication of a memory device by employing poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) as insulating layer. The fabricated devices have a PMMA-$MoS_2$/metal configuration and exhibit a bistable resistance switching behavior with high/low-current ratio around $10^3$.

  • We have investigated the structures of copper nanowires encapsulated in carbon nanotubes using a structural optimization process applied to the steepest descent method. The results showed that the stable morphology of the cylindrical ultrathin copper nanowires in carbon nanotubes is multishell packs consisted of coaxial cylindrical shells. As the diameter of copper nanotubes increased, the encapsulated copper nanowires have the face centered cubic structure as the bulk. Both the semiclassical orbits in a circle and the circular rolling of a triangular network can explain the structures of ultrathin multishell copper nanowires encapsulated in carbon nanotubes.

  • 주로 만화를 기반으로 하는 할리우드 슈퍼히어로 영화는 이미지 위주의 인물서사에 의존하는 경우가 많다. 하지만 이에 반해 소설을 기반으로 하는 슈퍼히어로 영화의 경우, 인물서사 보다는 사건 위주의 서사로 이야기의 흐름이 진행되는 경우가 대부분이다. 이러한 차이는 만화원작의 할리우드 슈퍼히어로 영화와 소설, 특히 고전소설을 원작으로 하는 국내 슈퍼히어로 영화에서 흔히 발견할 수 있다. 이에 본 논문은 국내 슈퍼히어로 영화의 서사구조 특성은 무엇이고 또한 그 한계는 어떠한 것이 있는지, 영화 <전우치>를 통해 분석해 보았다.

경계요소법에 의한 터보과급 가솔린기관 실린더블럭의 열전도 해석 (Analysis of heat conduction of cylinder block of turbocharged gasoline engine by boundary element method)

  • In this study, steady state heat conduction problems of the cylinder block of turbocharged gasoline engine were solved by the boundary element method. Surface of the cylinder block was divided by the triangular cells with constant potential. Temperature distribution, effective heat transfer coefficient of the cylinder block were investigated with variation of equivalence ratio, engine speed and boost pressure. The results show that maximum temperature of cylinder block increase rapidly with increasing engine speed and boost pressure. The monolithic structure of cylinder block results in sever inhomogeneity of inner wall temperature at the high engine speed and boost pressure.

  • Is this study it is proposed a method which is able to compute preciously using time-difference method to the air-gap magnetic field in electric machines take into account of eddy current induced. The air-gap magnetic field has slot harmonics which are due to the structure of machines and the shape of slot harmonics varies with the related positions of slots when the rotor moves. Accordingly, considering the influence of slot-harmonics, we coupled macro-air-gap element with first-order triangular elements in domain and used direct-convergence method for magnetic saturation.

  • In this paper, we present a new combined field integral equation (CFIE) formulation for the analysis of electromagnetic scattering from arbitrarily shaped three-dimensional perfectly conducting and piecewise homogeneous dielectric composite body. The conducting/dielectric structures are approximated by planar triangular patches, which have the ability to conform to any geometrical surface. The surface covering the conducting body is replaced by an equivalent surface electric current and the surface of the dielectric by equivalent electric and magnetic currents. The all equivalent currents are approximated in terms of RWG (Rao, Wilton, Glisson) functions. The objective of this paper is to illustrate that the CFIE is a valid methodology in removing defects, which occur at a frequency corresponding to an internal resonance of the structure. Numerical results are presented and compared with solutions obtained using other formulations.

폴리이미드막 표면에 직선 편광된 UV광 조사에 의한 프리틸트각 발생과 전기광학특성 (Pretilt Angle Generation and EO Performance in MLC with Polarized UV Light Irradiation Polyimide surface)

  • We have investigated that the monodomain alignment of nematic liquid crystal (NLC) is obtained with polarized ultraviolet(PUV) light irradiation on polyimide (PI) surface. The LC alignment capability increases with increasing the UV light irradiation time. The polarized UV light irradiation on oblique angle of 60。 irradiated on PI surface rotated by 90。 at 10 min. after being normally irradiated on PI surface at 30 min., the generated pretilt angle of NLC is about 2.5。. The pretilt angle of NLC is attributed to the interaction between the LC molecules and the asymmetric triangular structure of polymer surface due to photo-depolymerization of polymer with the oblique UV light on PI surface. The voltage -transmittance and response time characteristics of photo-aligned twisted nematic (TN)-LCD with UV light irradiation time 60 min. were almost same in comparison with the rubbing-treated TN-LCD.
