The purpose of this experiment was to study the effect of varying levels of tryptophan on the performance and carcass character of broiler. Trial 1: Ninety-six, five-week-old male Hubbard chickens, average weight 1.97 kg, were used in the trial. All birds were allocated into 3 treatments of 32 birds each. Each bird was kept in an individual cage. The trial period was 3 weeks. Treatment 1: Tryptophan content 0.198%. Treatment 2: Tryptophan content 0.228%. Treatment 3: Tryptophan content 0.258%. Trial 2: Ninety-six, three-week-old male Hubbard chickens, average weight 1.23 kg, were randomly distributed into the following two treatments. Each treatment had 48 birds. Treatment 1: Tryptophan content 0.167%. Treatment 2: Tryptophan content 0.198%. Trial 3: Ninety-six, twoweek-old Hubbard chickens, average body weight 0.72 kg, were used in this experiment. There were three treatments as follows. Treatment 1. Tryptophan content 0.136%. Treatment 2. Tryptophan content 0.167%. Treatment 3. Tryptophan content 0.198%. The result of Trial 1 showed that the feed intake, performance, and carcass characteristics were not influenced by tryptophan content in the diet which between 0.198% and 0.258% (p>0.05). There was no significant difference (p>0.05) in feed intake in either treatment in Trial 2. However, weight gain, feed conversion efficiency, and most carcass characteristics in the 0.198% treatment were significantly better (p<0.05) than in the 0.167% treatment. There was a trend that feed intake increased with increasing level of tryptophan, but there was no significant difference in Trial 3. The weight gain and feed conversion efficiency were significantly reduced for the broiler in the 0.136% treatment. This series of experiment showed that broilers need about 0.198% of tryptophan.
Objectives : The purpose of this study is to find the effectiveness of Korean medical treatment on stress caused by traffic accidents. HRV analysis and IES-R K research were used to evaluate it. Methods : We selected patients who entered the KangNam KyungHee Hospital between 28 Sep 2013 and 14 Apr 2014 and met inclusion/exclusion criteria. Before taking treatment, we took HRV and IES-R-K first to know the exact mental conditions of patients. For a week, we had taken acupuncture treatment, herb medicine treatment and physical therapy. After that, we compared patients' changes between before-treatment and after-treatment with the same examination. Results : In a period of one week, Korean medical treatment makes LF(Norm) stay within the normal range and HF(Norm) increase. But, we could not find statistical significance between two. The normal range of LF/HF ratio increased, and there was statistical significance. After treatment, the IES-R-K score tended to decrease. Statistically, korean medical treatment is useful to alleviate subjective stress by traffic accidents. Conclusions : Korean medical treatment makes the sympathetic system relax and parasympathetic system rise so it balances an autonomic nervous system. But, there is not statistical significance. Also, it gives positive effect on car accident patients' treatment in terms of easing their subjective stress. Prospective and Larger study will be necessary.
Objectives The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety of Non-toxic bee venom (BV) and observe VAS change before and after Non-toxic BV treatment in pain patients. Methods We surveyed the clinical practitioners who treated with Non-toxic BV in pain patients who visited the Korean medical clinic. The questionnaire survey was conducted for clinical practitioners who agreed to participate after hearing the explanation for the purpose and characteristics of the questionnaire. Patients in the questionnaires were reviewed based on their medical records from July 1, 2016 to October 28, 2016. Results We received 445 cases and selected 403 cases finally. 2 cases, however, were not able to continue treatment for 3 weeks and were eliminated. Depending on when the pain occurred, we divided the 401 cases into three groups (Acute, Subacute, Chronic group). In all groups, VAS scores were significantly decreased after treatment. Adverse reactions following Non-toxic BV treatment had occurred was 16 cases (3.60%). Except for 3 cases with hives, most of adverse reactions were mild or moderate and were not in need of extra treatment. The total safety of treatment for 3 weeks was mostly safe. The number of cases discontinued treatment was 42 cases (9.44%). Most of these cases, treatment was stopped for personal reason unrelated to the Non-toxic BV treatment. Conclusions These results suggest that the Non-toxic BV treatment has no serious adverse reactions and is a relatively safe treatment. Further studies are needed to prove the efficacy and clinical safety of Non-toxic BV treatment.

Otherwise, in MGDG, the major fatty acids were utilized for palmitic acid (ave. 28.92%) and stearic acid (ave. 13.25%) in treatment with copper chloride, and palmitic acid (ave. 15.73%) and lauric acid (ave. 11.88%) in manganese chloride treatment. It was continned that nickel chloride treatment was palmitic acid (ave. 35.16%) and palmitoleic acid (ave. 12.47%). The major fatty acids in DGDG were utilized for palmitic acid(ave. 34.19%) and linoleic acid (ave. 17.45%) in copper chloride treatment, and lauric acid (ave. 11.16%) and myrisitic acid (ave. 8.65%) in manganese chloride treatment. In treatment with nickel chloride, it was palmitoleic acid (ave. 10.30%) and myristic acid (ave. 7.81%) were used galactolipid formation.
Purpose: Infliximab (IFX) is considered safe and effective for the treatment of ulcerative colitis (UC) in both adults and children. The aim of this study was to evaluate the short- and long-term clinical course of IFX in Korean children with UC. Methods: Pediatric patients with UC who had received IFX infusions between November 2007 and May 2013 at Samsung Medical Center were retrospectively investigated. The clinical efficacy of IFX treatment was evaluated at 8 weeks (short term) and 54 weeks (long term) after the initiation of IFX treatment using the Pediatric Ulcerative Colitis Activity Index (PUCAI). The degree of response to IFX treatment was defined as complete response (PUCAI score=0), partial response (decrement of PUCAI score${\geq}20$ points), and non-response (decrement of PUCAI score <20 points). Adverse events associated with IFX treatment were also investigated. Results: Eleven pediatric patients with moderate to severe UC had received IFX. The remission rate after IFX treatment was 46% (5/11) and 82% (9/11) at 8 weeks and 54 weeks after IFX treatment, respectively. All patients who were steroid-dependent before treatment with IFX achieved remission at 54 weeks and were able to stop treatment with corticosteroids, while all steroid-refractory patients failed to achieve remission at 54 weeks after treatment with IFX. Conclusion: Response to IFX treatment after 8 weeks may predict a favorable long-term response to IFX treatment in Korean pediatric UC patients.

The objective of this study was to determine the effect of single and co-inoculation of plant growth promoting bacteria (PGPB) on early plant growth in Saemangeum reclaimed soil. Plant growth promoting Brevibacterium iodinum RS16 and Methylobacterium oryzae CBMB20 were inoculated on maize (Zea mays L.) and sorghum-sudangrass hybrid (Sorghum bicolor L.) grown in Saemangeum reclaimed soil. Single and co-inoculation of B. iodinum RS16 and M. oryzae CBMB20 increased plant height, dry biomass accumulation and macro-nutrient accumulation of maize and sorghum-sudangrass hybrid. M. oryzae CBMB20 treatment increased plant height in maize by 41.2% at 30 days after sowing (DAS), shoot dry weight and total dry weight compared to non-inoculated treatment. Macro-nutrient accumulation (N and P) in maize roots was significantly increased with co-inoculation treatment, K and Ca content was significantly increased at B. iodinum RS16 treatment compared to non-inoculated treatment. Macro-nutrient accumulation (P, K, Ca and Mg) in shoot was higher with M. oryzae CBMB20 treatment compared to non-inoculated treatment. In case of sorghum-sudangrass hybrid, co-inoculation treatment showed 33.7% increase in plant height compared to non-inoculated treatment at 30 DAS. M. oryzae CBMB20 treatment increased root dry weight and total dry weight, macro-nutrient accumulation in roots and N, Ca and Mg accumulation in shoot compared to non-inoculated treatment. P and K accumulation in shoot was significantly increased at co-inoculation treatment compared to non-inoculated treatment. This pot culture experiment demonstrated that single and co-inoculation of B. iodinum RS16 and M. oryzae CBMB20 increased the early growth and nutrient accumulation of maize and sorghum-sudangrass hybrid.
Objectives : The purpose of this study was to examine the knowledge of people in general about orthodontic treatment and their attitude to that by conducting a survey in a bid to provide information on the improvement of their incorrect awareness of orthodontics and on the development of clinical orthodontic treatment. Methods and Results : The subjects in this study were 389 people in general who resided in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. A self-administered survey was conducted, and the findings of the study were as follows: 1. As for awareness of orthodontic treatment among the people in general by gender, the women knew better about orthodontic treatment than the men, and the gender gap was significant(p<0.05). 2. Concerning satisfaction with the shape and arrangement of the teeth by age, those who were in their 20s were most satisfied, and the teens were satisfied the least. There were significant gaps according to age (p<0.05). 3. As a result of checking the degree of their inconvenience about the use of chewing teeth by age, the people who were in their 30s felt the most inconvenience, and the gap between them and the others was significant(p<0.01). 4. As a result of asking them whether they had an intention to receive orthodontic treatment, the women had a more intention to do that than the men(p<0.001). By age, the younger respondents had a more intention, and the gaps between them and the others were significant(p<0.001). 5. As a result of analyzing their perception of the positives of orthodontics by gender, the women took a more positive view of it than the men, and their gap was significant(p<0.01). Conclusions : When orthodontic treatment or orthodontic treatment counseling is provided to orthodontic treatment patients or people in general in the field of clinical dentistry, it should be noted that the way patients and people in general look at orthodontic treatment is different according to their age and gender, and they should be informed of the positives of orthodontic treatment to step up the development of orthodontic treatment.
Background: Lung cancer is one of the commonest and most lethal cancers throughout the world. The majority of the patients present at advance stage and are not suitable for curative intent treatment. Even among patients with localized disease, there has been underutilization of curative treatment modalities. The aim of this study was to analyze the radical treatment utilization rates in patients with non small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) treated at our centre. Materials and Methods: We analyzed case records of 104 patients with a pathologically confirmed diagnosis of NSCLC having stage 1-3B disease who were treated at our centre over last 3 years, to assess the utilization of curative treatment modalities i.e. surgery or radical radiotherapy. Results: The median age of this cohort was 58 years. Out of 104 patients only 33 (31.7%) received curative intent treatment, 14 undergoing curative resection and 19 receiving radical doses of radiotherapy. The baseline characteristics of both the groups (with or without radical treatment) were not different. Major factors associated with underutilization with curative treatment were progressive disease or loss of follow up after chemotherapy and inappropriate use of TKI and/or palliative radiotherapy in patients with stage 1-3B disease. Patients who did not receive radical treatment had inferior PFS and OS than those who received radical treatment. Conclusions: In our practice we observed gross underutilization of curative intent treatment modalities in patients with NSCLCs which is associated with inferior survival.
The purpose of this study was to know the state of rehabilitation treatment of stroke, to compare treatment with Bobath therapy or not, establish what factors have influence on treatment effect and hospitalization period and to be a great help for guide of treatment and education of patient and family We analyzed 87 stroke patients retrospectively for the patient's age, the subtype of diagnosis, the period at the start of treatment, the duration of treatment, the duration of hospitalization, the speech problem the co-morbid complication and the ambulatory function at discharge These patients visited the department of rehabilitation medicine, Holy Family Hospital, Catholic university of Korea from June 1993 to June 1998. The patients were classified into two groups. One group (47 patients) was treated by Bobath trerapy and the other (40 patients) was not. The results were as follow ; 1) The period at the start of treatment was 15.3 days and the duration of treatment was 32.4 days 2) The shorter the period at the start of treatment, the shorter the duration of admission 3) There was no significant difference between two groups for the duration of hospitalization, seventy two percent of patients with Bobath treatment was walked compared with 25% of patients without Bobath treatment was. 4) There was no relation between the speech problem and the duration of admission, but the group with no speech problem showed better results in ambulation than those with speech problem. On conclusion, as soon as possible early rehabilitation treatment of the stroke patients should be performed in order to reduce the duration of hospitalization. Special(or professonal) treatment with Bobath therapy show more improved funtional recovery than that without Bobath therapy. Therefore actualization of Bobath therapy is also required.
Objectives : The purpose of this study is comparison of clinical treatment outcome between oriental medicine group and oriental-western medicine group about Bell's palsy. Methods : We measured the facial palsy changes of the patients who were admitted for Bell's palsy in the Oriental Medical hospital of Dong-eui medical center from 07-01-2003 to 07-12-2004. Bell's palsy patients were divided into two groups. One group(A group) was treated by Oriental medicine treatment. The other group(B group) was treated by Oriental-Western medicine treatment. The effects of these treatment was evaluated by Yanagihara's unweighted grading system. Results : B group was marked more higher than A group in treatment outcome. We discovered that it is significant differences between two groups after 1 week and after 2 week in treatment stage. Conclusion : These results provided that B group was more effective than A group in treatment of Bell's palsy. For clearly comparing the effect of Oriental medicine treatment and Oriental-Western medicine treatment on Bell's palsy, more numbers of sample and longer duration of treatment are needed.
