  • A new method is developed for analysis of the electromagnetic coupling to an angled two-strip transmission line. It consists of solving the cylindrical transmission line equations an- alytically, and then adjusting the involved parameters to support the cylindrical TEM mode along its equivalent model of the angled two-plate transmission line. Its analytic solution agrees with the numerical value obtained by using the circuit-concept approach.

  • Recently, Peoples are exposed the ELF(Extremely Low Frequency) magnetic fields in the vicinity of underground transmission lines, and there are the generally accepted opinion that the magnetic fields affect the human body and there are possibility of the disease. Also in relation to this problem, technical solution methods and research are advanced for reducing the magnetic fields. In this paper, to practically understand the magnetic fields underground transmission lines, We analyze the electromagnetic field distribution in the underground transmission lines by means of FEM(Finite Element Methods) and present that improvement of the effective shielding methods by applying cable arrangements and shielding materials, eddy current problem to the underground transmission lines by means of the numerical analysis Tool.

  • In this paper, measurement and analysis of ELF electric and magnetic fields due to a transmission line have been carried out and the power frequency field strength measuring system is designed. In order to evaluate electric and magnetic fields associated with 60 Hz electric power transmission and distribution lines, the actual survey near a transmission tower has been made and analyzed. It may be inferred from these results that the maximum electric and magnetic fields strength in the vicinity of a line tower do not exceed 3.5[kV/m] and 20[${\mu}T$]. The results of the field measurements agree with limits and guidelines recommended by various authorized international institutes.

  • This paper investigates the sound insulation performance of the fiber sandwich panels for a tilting train. Due to the high strength and low mass, fiber sandwich panels are widely used for aircraft structures, railway vehicle structures. These fiber sandwich panels show orthotropic behavior because of the fiber's structural characteristics. This orthotropy often reduces the critical frequency and makes negative effect on the sound insulation performance. In this study, transmission loss of the fiber panels is analyzed based on the equivalent orthotropic plate model. An analysis program is developed to calculate the transmission loss of the fiber sandwich panels. Using the program, the coincidence frequency ranges and their effects on the transmission loss are investigated.

  • Determination of crack depth in filed using the self-calibrating surface wave transmission measurement and the cutting frequency in the transmission function (TRF) is very difficult due to variations of the measurement conditions. In this study, it is proposed to use the measured full TRF as a feature for crack depth assessment. A principal component analysis (PCA) is employed to generate a basis of the measured TRFs for various crack cases. The measured TRFs are represented by their projections onto the most significant principal components. Then artificial neural networks (NNs) using the PCA-compressed TRFs is applied to assess the crack in concrete. Experimental study is carried out for five different crack cases to investigate the effectiveness of the proposed method. Results reveal that the proposed method can be effectively used for the crack depth assessment of concrete structures.

  • The major system of an agricultural shuttle power-shift tractor is the transmission, using power-shift. Because the shifting performance depends on the hydraulic control system, the most important aspect of the optimization is the design of the hydraulic control system. This study was conducted to develop the simulation model of hydraulic control system for the shuttle power-shift transmission by using Easy5 software. Bench test was conducted to verify the simulation. Also, the design parameters which influence the pressure modulation characteristics were investigated.

  • As the electricity industry undergoes a process of fundamental restructuring, horizontal market power appears as a potential obstacle to a fully competitive wholesale electricity market. Market power is the ability profitably to maintain prices above competitive levels by restricting output below competitive levels. In models for imperfect competition under the consideration of the transmission constraints, the Nash equilibrium has the form of a mixed strategy. In this paper, the models for analyzing imperfect competition are compared using the solution of pure and mixed equilibria. The relation between market power and the capacity of a transmission line is investigated by imperfect competition analysis methods: Cournot, Bertrand, and Supply Curve model.

  • Dynamic analysis of a transmission line which is compensated by a FACTS device such as STATCOM, SSSC and UPFC is carried out in this paper and the impacts on conventional line protection methods such as the DCPM (Differential Current Protection Method) and the DPM (Distance Protection Method) are reviewed. A refined DCRM is proposed to detect faults properly regardless of the FACTS operation. The proposed method is applied to a FACTS-compensated line with a variety of faults and is verified by simulation results. An adaptive DPM on a FACTS-compensated line was proposed previously in the literature. In order to emphasize the necessity of the modified DPM, the conventional DPM is applied to a FACTS-compensated system. Significant factors such as fault types, fault locations, and fault resistances as well as FACTS device types are considered for relaying setting.

  • This paper presents observations made on four-bundled conductor transmission lines concerning the behavior of conductors under the effect of natural winds. To know the wind-induced vibration status and how to control it, wind-induced vibrations have been recorded and analyzed from the real transmission lines. From the field observation and analysis results, subspan oscillation was found to be the main type of vibration. In addition, the data also revealed some common characteristics of the observation sites with high maintenance rates. The results will be used in controlling the subspan oscillations and protecting the conductors.

  • Dynamic thermal rating (DTR) system is an effective method to improve the capacity of existing overhead line. According to the methodology based on CIGRE (International Council on Large Electric systems) standard, ampacity values under steady-state heating balance can be calculated from ambient environmental conditions. In this study, simulation analysis of relations between parameters and ampacity is described as functional dependence, which can provide an effective basis for the design and research of overhead transmission lines. The simulation of ampacity variation in different rating scales is described in this paper, which are determined from real-time meteorological data and conductor state parameters. To test the performance of DTR in different rating scales, capacity improvement and risk level are presented. And the experimental results show that the capacity of transmission line by using DTR has significant improvement, with low probability of risk. The information of this study has an important reference value to the operation management of power grid.
