Method : The subjects of this study were nurses working in the hospital. They were recruited 490 from three medical centers. Data were collected by using self-reported questionnaires from April 8th to 18th, 2002. Result : The results were as follows; 1) It appeared that the most important type of leadership-followership combination for job satisfaction in the nursing organization was the transformational leadership-effective follower, however the most important type of leadership-followership combination for organizational commitment was the transformational leadership-the conformist. 2) According to analysis of partial correlational coefficient to compare the importance of variables, the leadership-followership combination type was the more important than other variables: education, age, duration of job, religion, marriage. Conclusion : With these findings, it was found that the most proper type of leadership-followership combination in nursing organization was the transformational leadership-effective follower for job satisfaction and the transformational leadership-the conformist for organizational commitment. So these results will be used to develop a more effective staffing management strategies to improve the effectiveness of nursing organization.

  • Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of preceptors' transformational leadership on job stress and clinical performance among new graduate nurses. Methods : The study subjects were 180 new nurses in three University Hospitals. General characteristics, leadership, job stress and clinical performance were collected using self-reported questionnaires. Transformational leadership consisted of charisma, intellectual stimulation and individual consideration. T-test, ANOVA, pearson correlation and multiple regression analysis were performed to access the effect of leadership on job stress and clinical performance. Results : Of 180 subjects, 94.4% were female. The mean scores of transformational leadership, charisma, intellectual stimulation and individual consideration were $3.9{\pm}.46$, $3.9{\pm}.46$, $3.9{\pm}.57$ and $4.0{\pm}.58$, respectively. In multiple regression analysis, overall transformational leadership(${\beta}$=.154, p=.006) and charisma(${\beta}$=.388, p=.008) significantly increased the job stress. On the other hand, individual consideration significantly decreased the job stress (${\beta}$=-.671, p=.048) and increased the clinical performance(${\beta}$=2.472, p=.024). Conclusions : Charisma of preceptors was associated with the increase of job stress, and individual consideration was associated with the decrease of job stress and improvement of clinical performance. Therefore, the preceptors' leadership focusing on individual consideration rather than charisma may reduce job stress and improve clinical performance in the University hospital organization.

  • Despite the important role of the transformational leadership and Creative Climate to achieve firms' sustainable competitive advantage, there has been limited empirical studies linking the transformational leadership and creative climate in employee's innovative performance. This study investigated the impact of transformational leadership on innovative performance based on employees of R&D department in IT services. This paper also investigated the mediating role of creative climate and moderating role of employee's innovative tendency in this relationship. Main findings of our empirical analysis are as follows. While the relationships between transformational leadership and innovative performance was positively associated, creative climate had positive effect on innovative performance. As expected, we also found that the creative climate had positively mediated the relationship between transformational leadership and innovative performance. Also, the innovative tendency has statistically significant moderating effect on this relationship. Based on the findings, we have suggested theoretical and practical implications while future research directions with limitations of the research are discussed.

  • Previous studies stated that low carbon innovation performance could be influenced by government regulations and the green market, which is the new trend of consumer consumption in the present time, mainly focusing on external factors. Before study augured that low carbon innovation performance could be driven by internal and external factors of cooperation such as institutional pressure, stakeholder pressure, and innovation resources. However, the study of green transformational leadership and organizational environmental culture on low carbon innovation performance is rare, especially in Chinese manufacturing, as well as the effect of influencing factors of TPB model: environmental attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavior capability on low carbon innovation performance. Previous studies mostly used the TPB model for predicting individual behavior. This study established a theoretical model combining the TPB model with green transformational leadership and organizational environmental culture of Chinese automobile manufacturing on low carbon innovation performance. This study consists of two sections of research methodology: section 1 related to questionnaire design and data collection. We established a questionnaire and distributed it online, targeting responses from the managerial level working in Chinese automobile manufacturing. Eventually, 155 valid questionnaires were used for analysis. Section 2 involved data analysis using statistical software. Reliability and data validity was examined by reliability analysis and factor analysis. Correlations and convergent validity analyses were applied, and structural equation modeling was conducted to test the proposed hypotheses. The findings indicated that green transformational leadership, organizational environmental culture, and essential factors of TPB model; environmental attitude, subjective norm and perceived behavior capability positively affect low carbon innovation performance. In addition, the indirect effect of green transformational leadership was tested and found that organizational environmental culture and TPB factors mediated the relationship between transformational leadership and low carbon innovation performance.

  • Given the gaps in the link between leadership, knowledge resource, and innovation capability, this study aims to examine the potential mediating role of knowledge sharing and moderating role of knowledge-centered culture in the relationship between transformational leadership and a firm's capability for innovation. This study applied the Structural Equation Modeling to try out proposal hypotheses in the research model through a questionnaire survey from a sample of 301 participators in 115 small and medium firms in the field of tourism and hotel. The findings disclosed that knowledge-sharing behaviors significantly mediate the transformational leadership-innovation relationship. It highlights the significant impact of explicit knowledge sharing in comparison with the influence of tacit knowledge sharing on innovation capability. The paper also reveals the crucial role of knowledge-centered culture in boosting the knowledge-sharing-innovation relationship. By exploring the mediating role of knowledge sharing and the moderator of knowledge-centered culture, the paper significantly brings insight into different mediating and moderating mechanisms to improve innovation capability. The paper significantly fills up the gaps and provides valuable initiatives on the mechanism of how transformational leadership and specific forms of knowledge-sharing behaviors positively affect innovation capability under the moderating role of knowledge-centered culture.

The data was analyzed by frequency, percentage, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's Correlation Coefficient with SPSS PC/sup +/ program. Major findings are as follows : Appropriate one-way ANOVA tests revealed that the differences for transformational and transactional leadership styles of nurse executives. mid-level nurse administrators, head nurses as perceived by their immediate subordinates were statistically significant(P<.05), The scores of transformational and contingent reward behaviors were declined of the mid-level nurse administrators, nurse executives. The transactional scores of nurse administrators were lower than trans- formational ones, which is a desirable findings. The result of this study, the head nurses were perceived as the highest transformational leader by their subordinates, and second was the mid-level nurse administrators. The nurse executives received the lowest transformational leadership scores from their subordinates. These results were opposit to the previous studies. And significant positive correlations were founded between transformational leadership including charisma, intellectual stimulation, individual consideration and contingent reward of nurse administrators and the job satisfaction, the organizational commitment of their subordinates.
