  • Recently, eVTOL, the next-generation of eco-friendly transportation, has been in the spotlight due to global warming along with traffic jams in large cities of many countries. This study benchmark the external features of Hyundai Motors S-A1, a compound eVTOL combined fixed and tilt rotors among many types of eVTOLs, to create the basic configuration using reverse design techniques. Basic configurations were created using CATIA and aerodynamic analyses were performed using the aircraft design and aerodynamic analysis programs, OpenVSP, XFLR5, and the aircraft wetted area, drag, and lift were calculated after selecting the airfoil, incidence angle, and dihedral and anhedral angles through trade study. Also, required powers were estimated for completing the given mission profile and components weight and the total weight were predicted using the estimation formula and data survey.

Changes in Spatial Distribution of Core Manufacturing and Service Industries of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4차 산업혁명 관련 공통 세부업종 제조업 및 서비스업의 수도권 내 공간적 분포 변화)

  • Due to the convergence and complexity of the 4th Industrial Revolution, the boundaries between industries have become unclear and ambiguous. Consequently, there is a lack of research on how firms engaged in this industry are changing their location behavior. Recently, some attempts to classify the industrial groups of the 4th Industrial Revolution and their detail occupations have been made, and this study adopts the classification of Lee and Jung (2020) of the Korea Institute for Industrial Economics & Trade. In this study, the 18 detailed industries commonly included in multiple industrial groups are defined as 'core industries' and are classified into manufacturing and service industries to explore the spatial patterns of firms' location. Specifically, this study aims to examine how the location behavior of firms in core industries of the 4th Industrial Revolution has changed from 2010 to 2019 in the Seoul metropolitan area, using the 「National Business Survey」 data. We employed two methods based on spatial auto-correlation: (i) spatial kernel density estimation analysis and (ii) local Moran's Ii analysis. The results indicate that the core industry firms form more distinct and larger clusters in 2019 based on the clusters formed in 2010. Specifically, manufacturing industry firms tended to concentrate in the southern region of Gyeonggi and parts of Seoul, while serivce industry firms were more concentrated in Seoul. These core industries play a critical role in industries and are closely related to the ICT industries, which generate high-added value and increase productivity in the front and rear industries. This study reveals that the agglomeration of these industries in specific regions is intensifying and may exacerbate regional inequality.

  • The discussion of the relationship between macro-economic variables is very important research topic. the most economic variables discussed in connection with the liberalization of capital is the exchange rate and stock prices and these two variables have a relationship of mutual influence are identified. However, the results on the time frequency and the time span of a variable appear differently. Therefore, the purpose of this research describes a cause that the result of prior research varied and presents more reliable research methodology. In this research, when the time frequency and span varied, the VAR analysis of the exchange rate and stock prices appeared differently. So, we use the Monte Carlo simulation method in order to performing our purpose. Our research supports the existing research said the ratio that each coefficient VAR model contained 95% confidence interval of estimated coefficient in Monte Carlo simulation is higher when it is applied more the long term and frequent observation.

An Analysis on the Decoupling between Energy Consumption and Economic Growth in South Korea (한국의 에너지 소비와 경제성장의 탈동조화에 대한 분석)

  • Purpose - This study analyzed the decoupling phenomenon between energy consumption and economic growth in Korea from 1990 to 2021. The main purpose of this study is to suggest policy implications for achieving a low-carbon society and decoupling that Korea must move forward in the face of the climate change crisis. Design/methodology/approach - This study investigated the relationship between energy consumption and economic growth by energy source and sector using the energy-EKC (EEKC) hypothesis which included the energy consumption on the traditional Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC), and the impulse response function (IRF) model based on Bayesian vector auto-regression (BVAR). Findings - During the analysis period, the trend of decoupling of energy consumption and economic growth in Korea is confirmed starting from 1996. However, the decoupling tendency appeared differently depending on the differences in energy consumption by sources and fields. The results of the IRF model using data on energy consumption by source showed that the impact of GDP and renewable energy consumption resulted in an increase in energy consumption of bio and waste, but a decrease in energy consumption by sources, and the impact of trade dependence was found to increase the consumption of petroleum products. Research implications or Originality - According to the main results, efficient distribution by existing energy source is required through expansion of development of not only renewable energy but also alternative energy. Additionally, in order to increase the effectiveness of existing energy policies to achieve carbon neutrality, more detailed strategies by source and sector of energy consumption are needed.

  • The rapid emergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across diverse sectors has also made its presence felt in the construction sector, where its adoption is gaining momentum at a remarkable pace. The anticipated impact of AI on decision-making processes pertinent to construction project management is considerable, necessitating a holistic understanding of AI's potential applications. As a first step towards that goal, this paper conducts a systematic literature review and in-depth content analysis of existing literature related to the applications of AI in the context of construction project management. The authors selected journal papers, technical papers, and conference proceedings published between 2010 and 2023 on the topic of Artificial Intelligence for construction project management applications. Additionally, the authors also reviewed several industry and trade publications in the same topic area. The search resulted in more than 200 relevant articles, after which the authors conducted a thorough content analysis. The results categorized applications of AI in construction project management across categories: construction productivity, construction safety, construction quality, construction document management, and construction site planning. Additionally, the review identified the current trends of AI applications in construction project management, advantages, and challenges to implementation. Understanding AI applications, advantages, and challenges to implementation helps contractors gain new insights into the efficient implementation of AI for various project management purposes.

  • Currently serious conflicts arose for the use of coastal area in Korea. However, there is no mediation program or mediators' activities for conflict resolution which are shown in the developed countries. Even though, the MOMAF(Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries) was established in 1997 and the Division of Coastal Zone Management under the Ministry took over the authority to establish ICM program and formulated the CZMA(Coastal Zone Management Act) in 1998 after understanding the seriousness of coastal degradation due to the importance of coastal zone management and the understanding of dispute resolution, it still lacks consistency among legislative power on the continuous policy for wise coastal use and management which results coastal conflicts. The objective of this study is to lay the evaluation criteria for the formalized objective evaluation among disputants of coastal conflicts for the better understanding and characterizing of coastal conflicts in Korea. In order to do so, this study has adopted the PCA(Principal Component Analysis) for the subtraction of the components of evaluation mechanism to describe the present conditions of conflicts in the selected study area(Sihwa lake), to analyze the problems, and then to explore alternative approaches for resolving the conflicts. As research methodologies, we have depended upon literature review and field survey methods. As field survey methods, we employed structured questionnaires for the various samples from the experts of research institutes, professors, representatives of NGOs and citizens. Survey results suggested that 5 representative elements comprising 35 detailed elements could be identified. Based on these results, this study was able to identify and classify the evaluation mechanism and help to resolve coastal conflicts in Korea.

An Analysis on the Container Terminal Operation by Considering the Key Factors for Fluctuating Container Traffic Volume (물동량 변동요인이 터미널 운영에 미치는 영향력 분석에 관한 연구)

  • The aim of this study is to analyze the container terminal operation by considering the key factors that fluctuates the container traffic volume using the System Dynamics (SD) method. The target area of this study is the 'A' container terminal which is located in the Port of Incheon and the simulation period is from 2004 to 2020. As evaluation indexes for container terminal operation, three factors such as 'total sales', 'operating ratio of C/Y' and 'operating ratio of G/C' are selected, and as for the key factors of fluctuating container traffic volume, 'variation ratio of world trade', 'variation ratio of trade among three countries in North-East Asia' and 'variation ratio of won-dollar rate are used. As of 2020, the result of this study is that import-export container traffic volume increases almost 880,000TEU and total sales and operating ratio of G/C each reach 7.1 bilion won and 65 percent. No changes however in loadage and operating ratio of C/Y in 'A' container terminal are indicated. The reason is that capability of C/Y is exceeded. Therefore this study suggest that decision-makers of 'A' container terminal realize the importance of additional space of C/Y.

  • In this research, we analyze about the effect of the traditional market supporting policy about 16 large unit self-governing bodies and effeciency through DEA analysis. The plan for supports of the traditional market were shown. Now, the object of the traditional market supporting policy was any more not improvement of facilities and the thing which is the attraction of customer activity for the sales increase of the traditional market could be confirmed. For the sales increase, supporting of the field like the client information center, source indicator, autonomic packing stand, and the broadcasting facility are effective more. In addition, for the visiting customer inducement activation, we could know that supporting of the field like client information center, broadcasting facility, broadcasting advertisement, and the premium event for gift certificate were required. The method including the customer distribution service operation, which is the various product development and cross sellings and client friendly based on data which it investigates the actual conditions the market merchant on the Incheon area and consumer with the concrete plan for support gift certificate activation, the market information system construction, and etc. was shown.

A Study on the Determinants of Management Performance of Nonprofit Arts Organization: Focusing on Symphony Orchestras in USA (비영리 공연단체의 경영성과 결정요인에 관한 연구 - 미국오케스트라를 중심으로 -)

  • This study aims to suggest effective management performances of nonprofit arts organizations among competitive environment. To examine the factors which affect the performance of nonprofit performing arts organizations such as external environment, cultural capital, orchestra characters and government grants, this study analyzed the data of 990 tax forms of the US Internal Revenue Service(IRS) of the top 73 symphony orchestras and government sources in USA. Independent variables are measured as sponsorship amount which is the biggest part of orchestras' income, and ticket sales which is profit of inherent business purpose. As a result, the performance of the orchestra is affected positively by the income and influenced by the orchestras' characteristics including age, size, and conductor. Also government grants to the orchestras are essential for organizations to sustain their business. But, there are two different sides on these effects that small to medium groups are influenced by crowding in effect and bigger groups are more likely conducted by business overview. Lastly, cultural capital is no significant relationships to orchestras' management performances. This scope of the study is limited to American symphony orchestras; however, this study is significant in that empirical analysis on nonprofit performing arts organizations from an economic view point and contribute on other nonprofit arts organizations to develop their strategic plan for sustainable business.

Comparative Analysis on Inter-Countries For the Development of Energy Security Index -Focusing on LNG- (에너지 안보 지표 개발에 관한 국가 간 비교 분석 -LNG를 중심으로-)

  • Energy Security has been factor of great importance to national security, economy, society and all other areas. However, it has been in the lack of situation where there is no leading method to measure energy security nor to compare among countries until now. In the research, objective index to assess energy security has been developed and compared among the level of countries in terms of energy importing countries' perspective. Based on the suggested index, comparison for the energy security level has been explained. The implication of the research is that in terms of energy importing perspectives, method to appraise energy security and according to this, energy security rate by each countries with respect to LNG. This method is doubtlessly applicable to comparison of security rate from other resources and fluctuation of energy security by reflecting other factors. Also, discussion about how increased autonomy of resources can impact Korean energy security with regard to recent international energy development. As a consequence, it has revealed that enhanced authority of resources evokes ascendancy of energy security in a positive way.
