  • RF skin tracking of instrumentation RADAR cannot acquire stable track data, because of effect of multipath interference especially elevation direction. In this paper, low altitude target tracking method using laser tracking system is suggested to overcome this restriction. The effect of multipath can be reduced by increasing angle resolution with laser characteristics of very short pulse and narrow beamwidth. RF skin track, beacon track and laser track data for the integrated calibration target on the ground and target ship on the sea are gathered. And they are compared and analyzed to confirm the performance of laser tracking system. As a result, it shows that the suggested laser track method has better performance than RF skin track under multipath conditions.

  • In this paper, we propose a new tracking algorithm that achieves good tracking performance in manuevering targets while capping the computation load to“low”Kalman Filter (KF) is generally known to be poor in tracking manuevering targets. IMM, on the other hand, compensates the weakness inherent in the mundane KF and is considered as a promising alternative for tracking maneuvering targets. However, IMM suffers from substantially increased computational load as the number of models increases. To remedy this problem, we propose a new method focused to reducing the computational load and attaining the desirable tracking performance at least as good that of IMM. It is achieved by essentially adopting the structure of IMM and injecting Optimal Two-Stage Kalman Estimator (OTSKE). The representative simulation shows a reduction in computational load with the proposed OTSKE but further reduction is shown achieved (by about 58%) with the Interacting Acceleration Compenstation(IAC)-OTSKE approach.

  • Since the optimized use of sonar systems for target tracking is a practical problem for naval operations, the measure of mission achievability is needed for preparing efficient sonar-maneuver tactic. In order to quantify the mission achievability or Measure Of Effectiveness(MOE) for given sonar-maneuver tactics, we developed and tested a simulation algorithm. The proposed algorithm for tracking is based on Measure Of Performance(MOP) for localization and tracking system of sonar against target. Probability of Detection(PD) using steering beam patterns referenced to the aspect angle of sonar is presented to consider the tracking-performance of sonar. Also, the integrated software package, named as Optimal Acoustic Search Path Planning(OASPP) is used for generating sonar-maneuver patterns and vulnerability analysis for a given scenario. Through simulation of a simple case for which the intuitive solution is known, the proposed algorithm is verified.

  • Visual object tracking is a challenging area of study in the field of computer vision due to many difficult problems, including a fast variation of target shape, occlusion, and arbitrary ground truth object designation. In this paper, we focus on the reinforced feature of the dynamic search area to get better performance than conventional discriminative model prediction trackers on the condition when the accuracy deteriorates since low feature discrimination. We propose a reinforced input feature method shown like the spotlight effect on the dynamic search area of the target tracking. This method can be used to improve performances for deep learning based discriminative model prediction tracker, also various types of trackers which are used to infer the center of the target based on the visual object tracking. The proposed method shows the improved tracking performance than the baseline trackers, achieving a relative gain of 38% quantitative improvement from 0.433 to 0.601 F-score at the visual object tracking evaluation.

  • Focusing on the issue that the conventional Kernel Correlation Filter (KCF) algorithm has poor performance in handling scale change and obscured objects, this paper proposes an anti-occlusion and scale adaptive tracking algorithm in the basis of KCF. The average Peak-to Correlation Energy and the peak value of correlation filtering response are used as the confidence indexes to determine whether the target is obscured. In the case of non-occlusion, we modify the searching scheme of the KCF. Instead of searching for a target with a fixed sample size, we search for the target area with multiple scales and then resize it into the sample size to compare with the learnt model. The scale factor with the maximum filter response is the best target scaling and is updated as the optimal scale for the following tracking. Once occlusion is detected, the model updating and scale updating are stopped. Experiments have been conducted on the OTB benchmark video sequences for compassion with other state-of-the-art tracking methods. The results demonstrate the proposed method can effectively improve the tracking success rate and the accuracy in the cases of scale change and occlusion, and meanwhile ensure a real-time performance.

  • A robust tracking controller design was developed for a rotary motion control system. The friction force versus the angular velocity was measured and modeled as a combination of linear and nonlinear components. By adding a model-based friction compensator to a nominal proportional-integral-derivative controller, it was possible to build a simulated control system model that agreed well with the experimental results. A zero-phase error tracking controller was selected as the feedforward tracking controller and implemented based on the estimated closed-loop transfer function. To provide robustness against external disturbances and modeling uncertainties, a disturbance observer was added in the position feedback loop. The performance improvement of the overall tracking controller structure was verified through simulations and experiments.

  • This study analyzes the importance-performance analysis (IPA) of the 10 dimensions of the smart construction safety management system, and analyzes which dimensions are important and which dimensions are performing to determine key improvement tasks, incremental improvement tasks, Maintenance and reinforcement tasks and continuous maintenance tasks were derived. Among the 10 dimensions of the smart construction safety management system, the dimensions that are recognized as important by all field managers and field workers and have high performance are the automatic risk displacement measurement system, smart environmental sensor system, and heavy equipment seizure prevention system. However, areas that were perceived as having high importance but low performance were worker location tracking systems, smart safety helmet chin muscles, and smart safety ring fastening. Among the smart construction safety management systems perceived by field managers, areas for key improvement with high importance and low performance included worker location tracking system and smart safety ring fastening. Among the smart construction safety management systems perceived by field workers, the area for key improvement with high importance and low performance was the automatic risk displacement measurement system.

  • Ryu et al. recently proposed a multiple target angle-tracking algorithm without a data association problem. This algorithm, however, shows the degraded performance on evasive maneuvering targets, because the estimated signal subspace is d,:graded in the algorithm. In this Paper, we proposed a new algorithm, in which VFF-PASTd (Variable Forgetting Factor PASTd) algorithm is applied to Ryu's algorithm to effectively handle the evasive target tracking with better time-varying signal subspace.

  • A new filter-bank is proposed in order to track center frequency of narrow band signal. The two banks are connected in series-parallel. The master filter bank which is made of traditional filter bank detects the center frequency roughly. And the performance for tracking center frequency is greatly improved by the slave filter bank which is based on energy-difference estimator. Computer simulations show that it achieves a good tracking accuracy.
