In this paper, we study affine transformations of normal bases and give an explicit formulation of the multiplication table of an affine transformation of a normal basis. We then discuss constructions of self-dual normal bases using affine transformations of traces of a type I optimal normal basis and of a Gauss period normal basis.

This paper proposes an improved soft switching two-transistor forward converter which uses a novel lossless snubber circuit to effectively control the turn-off dv/dt rate of the main transistors. In the proposed soft switching implementation the turn-off voltage traces across the main two transistors are almost the same contributing to reduce the total capacitive turn-on loss and the snubber current is divided into the two transistors resulting in distributed thermal stresses

The objective of this work is to suggest a mastless pattern fabrication technique using the combination of machining by Nanoindenter(equation omitted) XP and HF wet etching. Sample line patterns were machined on a borosilicate surface by constant load scratch (CLS) of the Nanoindenter(equation omitted) XP with a Berkovich diamond tip, and they were etched in HF solution to investigate chemical characteristics of the machined borosilicate surface. All morphological data of scratch traces were scanned using atomic force microscope (AFM).

The importance of technology assessment(TA) is increasingly emphasized, however, the question of what is TA is ambiguous yet. This article traces the concept of TA, and tries to identify the its meaning and current issues. It argues that the ambiguity of TA concept is not tragedy, but blessing in its growth. We came to know that one should consider for a successful TA some issues : institutional conditions, methodology, functions and timeliness. And they should also be considered in the TA-building process of Korea which is now on.

In this paper we study the Reidemeister number $R(f_G)$ for a self-map $f_G : (X, G) \to (X, G)$ of the transformation group (X,G), as an extenstion of the Reidemeister number R(f) for a self-map $f : X \to X$ of a topological space X.

A wireless MAC scheduler that provides a high level of quality-of-service (QoS) for video-on-demand (VOD) applications while achieving a reasonable level of system throughput is proposed. The proposed scheduler considers both channel qualities of mobiles and the urgency of real-time packets coming from VOD applications in a cross-layer approach between application and MAC layers.

In the past, the development of pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) models for quantitating the time course of drug responses was mainly based on two types of models, the empirical effect compartment model that simply accounts for the delay between effect and plasma concentration (hysteresis) and the mechanism-based so-called indirect response model. The first approach traces back to a paper by Segre (1) and its application was popularized by Holford and Sheiner (2); indirect response models were introduced by Jusko's group (3). (omitted)

In this paper. We experimentally investigated the magnetic properties of YBCO bulk superconductor using AC magnetization method. The sample is 2.8cm wide in a diameter and 1.4cm long. We applied Ac magnetic field parallel to the direction of length of YBCO bulk. It is observed that YBCO bulk has the diamagnetic properties. AC loss calculation of YBCO bulk superconductor was performed by evaluating the total area of magnetization traces. As depends on the frequency and amplitude of the applied magnetic field.

By integrating the wired-glove and the position sensor using the magnetic fields, we developed the system which could measure the functional dimension of the hand and arm of the human. Magnetic position sensor traces the position and orientation of the arm while the wired-glove measures 18 phalangeal joint angles(including abduction between fingers, pitch and yaw of the wiist). The system could be used to monitor and quantify the functional dimension of the hand and arm and also could be used to test the product usability where the hand motion is important. Another important application lies in determining the degree of paralysis.

In the present work we introduce a new flare activity indicator, MAD and examine its characteristics by analyzing a set of successive three days' observations of a typical active region, AR2372. The computed MAD is compared with conventional activity indicator such as separator. It is found that. (1) MAD traces very well the separator, (2) it. singles out. local discontinuity of magnetic field lines and (3) it. is a good measure of describing the evolutionary status of active region.
